That's what I don't get. They are standing in front of a cave for hours on end to get better loot for........? They've beaten the story, most of them aren't going to do the raid. They literally just want better gear to have better gear and the best way to do that is to stand in front of a cave.

I see were you're coming from, but you gotta admit: everybody who steps back a bit must realize that's borderline madness - playing a video game while standin in front of a hole shooting into the darkness - literally. People do this for hours!

I disagree. It is complete madness! :D But fun, nonetheless.

I was probably at that spot around ten minutes and in that time I saw people come and go every few minutes. It did not look like anybody was there for even the whole ten minutes I was that I could tell. It is just plain funny to watch.

I'm not clear how you think you know this?

How I think I know what?

How can you know what you said here in bold? As opposed to people wanting to have better gear to use in the game?

Because they've already beaten the game. They are for the most part level 20+ and have finished the story. You can finish the story at level 20 or even before. Other than running around and shooting random dudes, there's really no reason to get better gear. Is there something else to do once you've finished the story aside from PvP?

Yes... tons to do even with never playing PvP. There are daily "strikes" and missions. New "bounties" come out often (I think daily). Having more armor and better weapons makes all this much easier. I don't particularly enjoy the PvP that much and have been playing all the other activities since I finished the story.

There is a new Queen's Wrath bounty/mission that came out today for example.

I'm not meaning to be argumentative, but was just wondering why you might think what you did. :)

The strikes aren't anything new though. They are just the same missions you've already done. The bounties aren't interesting at all and quickly repetitive. That's my point. I'm completely fine with people spending their free time as they please, I just find it odd that people are so entranced with Destiny (and other games that do similar things) when all they are doing is getting better gear to beat the game they already beat but faster. MMO's have this problem for me once you hit max level too and finish up the story. Then people just farm dungeons for better loot for.... no idea why. So they can farm dungeons for better loot but faster?

I don't think anybody is entranced or anything, just a little mindless fun is all.

I'm serious... you gotta go to that cave and watch a few minutes. It is funny as heck.

Oh I've farmed the cave for a good 4 hours probably off and on. Granted I do it while on my exercise bike and listening to an audio book (triple tasking?) but it just seems silly. I found a better farming spot anyway so I don't go to the cave anymore.

I've become addicted. It's not a perfect game by far, but it's entertaining and the co-op mode is good fun. I really enjoyed Halo's PVP for what it was and Destiny's builds on that. I haven't played it as much as the PvE content, but it is a lot of fun and with the new "event" coming that has your gear actually meaning something, it has me excited.

If anyone wants to play, look me up. I'll be on usually 9PM EST or later.

How do you guys find playing on your own?

I enjoyed the Beta but feel a little isolated now that I'm playing "for real"

I really regret paying $60 for Destiny. I hit level 19 yesterday (I've only put about 20 hours into the game because of work/life commitments). I expect much more from a game with a $500 MILLION budget.

You cannot team with people "on the fly" except for those Strike missions...Most of the missions are the same thing over and over. Really, Bungie...really?

I have really tried to force myself to like the game, but for now, I am very upset about it. I am also pissed because I am having trouble with Diablo 3 in that my game always crashes for no reason! UGH!

I am enjoying Destiny so far (only level 15 hunter). It is a bit repetitive, BUT that actually helps for me. I don't feel like I have to sit down and play level after level. A mission or two a day and I'm good.

It sucks. In fact, I rarely did it until I absolutely had to, to advance the story so that I could do strikes and missions for bounties. Make friends! This game is so much better when you have a fire team to run through missions. Also, play harder missions! Easy missions are no fun and don't reward you with much. Play as close to your level as possible or slightly over.

First of all, you need to go to the roster and change your fire team setting from friends only to public so anyone can join. Unfortunately, you have to do this every time you restart the game because for some stupid reason, it won't save a simple setting such as this. This helps to be able to find people. You can join fire teams at anytime you're near someone. The fun comes from when you're doing harder missions with groups of people where you have to work together. I thought the same thing at first, but once I hit 18 and started running strikes and what not, it became a lot more fun that pre-18.

Just wait until you can do the strikes, dailies, and weeklies, they're more fun and you really need groups for those.

I'm level 24, and I still haven't finished the story. All I play is the Crucible and the occasional patrol mission when I need materials for weapon perks.

The campaign is extremely repetitive, the story is boring, and the only reason I'm playing it is because there's really nothing else out at the moment for PS4 that I'm into.

Strikes are fun. The story is repetitive, but once you're in to the levels you can do multi level strikes, it's a blast. It's to the point where you really have to work together to be able to do some of them or you'll never make it far. The only way to complete some of those is if you find a "cheat spot" where you can plink off enemies and they can't get to you, other wise without organization, you'll die. Lots.

I feel really stupid for asking this, but is there actual multiplayer like Halo & COD? Team battles 4v4 2v2...etc?

This game is easily one of the most overhyped and under delivering games I have played in a long time.

That'd be Titanfall for me. Played 12matches tops. That annoying smart pistol + lifeless maps. Adding bots a terrible decision too, boring titans etc. pp...could go on and on. Heck, even got the season pass right away. :/
At least it was heavily discounted already...should have been a warning, lol.

Haven't played Destiny though, wouldn't be interested if it came out for PC tbf - sounds boring to me. Not a halo fan too.

I agree with this - I actually really like Destiny. The story is a bit repetitive but they'll be adding more in the future.

What's out now is just the beginning. I'm a big fan of strikes and like any game, I'm a fan of the multiplayer which is a lot of fun.

I agree with everything you just said. I'm really enjoying this game. I think if I had just blown through it in a week I'd be over it but I've been taking my time. This game is going to be out for a long while and will have more and more content so I'm in no rush.
