How do I stop the police getting me to unlock my phone, currently if I use the wrong finger enough times it needs a passcode which I have forgotten, I can't change my face while the police have me in restraint
By pushing the sleep/wake button five times your phone will "pretend" it needs your passcode just like when you haven't entered it for a couple of days. There was a post on this here some weeks ago.

The faceid will lock your ohone if its not you,the phone is doing scaning from 5 to 5 sec to be sure its you

Have you not been following the rumours? Do you honestly think that Apple will let a photo unlock the phone? It boggles my mind how people think that Apple hasn't thought of obvious simple things such as this. It's called 'advanced' facial recognition for a reason. Samsung this isn't.
I've read the new notes can't be tricked with photos either

Guys, remember the faceid can be set to scan every second or every 5 second that is still you,and when you are sleeping your eyes are closed. A touchid is way easier since they need 1 contact and you can play with that phone until the battery is gone, but with a faceid that scans you every 5 seconds otherwise it will lock the phone? What you do?

How do you know that?

I'm thinking this is wrong.

Don't do things that would lead you to being under arrest by the police. Or, purchase a Samsung phone if you anticipate that happening a lot.

Facial ID will have to be very quick indeed.

My only comparison of a similar system is the iris scanner on the S8. Leaving aside the accuracy, it had to be held in a particular way. The iPhone cannot be like this.

Simple scenario:

Go to pay with my iPhone.
Take iPhone out of my pocket with headphones on.
Phone doesn't go above the waist before reaching the terminal.
Reach terminal with thumb already resting on the home button, acting as support to hold the phone.
Apple Pay active.
Payment done.

How will this work with facial recognition? At some point the phone has to align with my face.

How does this work when the phone is lying down on the table, a few inches away from my face? With Touch ID I simply press the home button.

There are many many questions.

Presumably much better for the police etc as they need a warrant for your finger to open a phone but to just wave the phone in front of your face and get it unlocked wouldn't ?

Since the faceid will work on 45 degree angle...

I refuse to be swayed once again in a completely irrational and disproportionate way in response to minor increments employed in the forthcoming iPhone iteration. I shall respond as an adult and in a mature fashion and carefully balance what real benefit/s the changes promised will do for my own (lack of) lifestyle as I am sure most users of this site also follow.

As such no matter what the hype encircling the 'new' "features" I shall carefully and patiently consider whether or not a (cough) bezel-less display, a OLED screen, an animated Emoji-maker will be sufficient enough to enhance my own personal everyday routine enough to justify spending the best part of a £1000 for what will ultimately be obsolete in a year.

No longer for me will I succumb to the ... wait a minute .... face recognition you say? Actual real faces? And it will recognise me as it's friend ... well ...ok. I can't say it'll be my friend. But it will recognise me, right? And like me and ...? Well. You know, maybe not like me but it will know it's me, yeah?

Yeah!! Whoop, whoop! Awesome, man! Far out man! Here! Shut up and take my money! No. I didn't mean you shut up, iPhone 8. You're my new and first ever friend. Well. Maybe not friend. Acquaintance. That's it. I meant it in rhetorical fashion you see and ....

("Cut it here. That's enough inanimate object fixation for one post!"- Macrumors Ed.)

The leak indeed is massive and maybe more are coming regardless the event is 2 days ahead. How did they even got access to these type of things?

Activate SOS mode on the iPhone (press the 'side button' 5 times quickly). Only lets you unlock the phone with a passcode.

I’m really looking forward to using this facial recognition. Mostly interested to see if Apple can pull it off without being awkward and inconvenient to use.

Secretly click the power button 5 times

Also lol at that unfinished filler text

Looks like we have our first look at how the UI is going to accommodate the notch at the top of the iPhone 8! Clock on the left, everything else on the right. Interesting.

Eeks, I'm reminded of this movie:

It is a bit of a pain when using face tech when wearing different glasses or sunglasses.
