Mate, look at all the leaks that have happened in the last 24 hours. Specs of the new macbook airs/pros and mac pros. Leaks of product listings in Australia. Confirmation of iOS 6 features and mountain lion features. And to add to this, the actual logic board of the macbook pro

ALL of this adds up to way more leaks that happened when Steve was CEO.

Your memory is faulty. Heck, we had box pictures when the Thunderbolt MacBooks Pros got released, Steve was CEO, Retina displays were rumored, and the leaks were called photoshopped.

They ended up being legit.

Then there was the 5 USB port Mac Mini pictures. Remember that one ?

There's always been this many leaks, this much hype, etc...

If Apple axed it, how many would really be upset? How many are dumping their Mac systems for HP and Dell workstations? How many users have already switched to Media Composer, Premier, and Symphony, and don't need a Mac Pro to work on?

The whole iOS and OS X development stacks are exclusive to OS X, so as long as that's true I think we'll see a Mac Pro. The productivity hit Apple's own employees would take if they canned it seems like a good excuse to keep it around.

5770

Just because there are newer/better graphic cards out today does not make the 5770 garbage. I'm a 30+ year graphics professional using the 5770 daily in my Mac Pro. It's a very capable card for professional graphics.

Maybe not so cutting edge for gamers but who's buying a MP for Gaming ?

Please for the love of god make the MacBook Pros retina

Um... why?

I love how fans jump on the bandwagon of a particular feature, build up their own expectations and then complain when it's not even introduced. Macrumors is certainly food for the brain!

What? You mean demanding a feature because it's been bandied about for a while and we've decided we want it now doesn't mean it's gonna happen? ;)

I am so sick of the ludicrous processor "upgrades" that apple offers.
2.3 to 2.4 ghz is not a perceptible differnce in perfromance.
dual core to quad core is a good jump. But dual quad core to dual hex core is silly. It should scale more exponentially; single processor, dual processor, quad processor. Though a mac pro with a single quad core is kind of lackluster. Bring on the quad hexcores! I want to see menumeter taking up the entire menu bar!

I would say the same thing, but how much processing power does a developer need? Not that they don't need it, but if it's served by an iMac, and GPU is a non-issue for developers . . . . .

Same thing for many pros. Since FCPX isn't cutting it, does a pro need a Mac to run platform agnostic apps? Or can that pro run those apps on an iMac? I have a sinking feeling that Tim and others behind the Apple veil are asking those questions.

Not that I am against the Mac Pro, just seeing where Apple is going and trying to anticipate.

I registered on MacRumors after years of lurking for Apple related news and tech tips just to express my disgust at those processor specs and the 5770.

5770? Seriously?

Also, why are people hyperventilating over retina display so much? Sure, it's nice in a phone, but I'd much, much rather see vastly improved processors and graphics before some trendy display that will no doubt send the price into the stratosphere.

absolutely mind blowing...

----------

how much is the starting price for the new macbook pro 13" gonna be?

Shockingly, it looks like this prediction was right?

Store isn't up yet, but the specs page looks updated and looks like it matches what they said (E5645 westmere cpu for the 12 core).

http://www.apple.com/macpro/specs.html

No SATA III? No TB?? No usb3?

I hope this is some sad sad mistake but not optimistic right now...and who knows what pricing will be.

I don't think anything has changed.

No mention at WDC. Looks like they dropped it. A LOT of people are gonna be pissed.

I wouldn't get to angry yet ... if it's a simple refresh, they may not mention it in the keynote. Once the Apple store gets back up and you can see if they updated it, and THEN we can decide to be angry or not.

I plan to order a Macbook Pro tomorrow. But that is for moving around. I also need a more serious machine in the office. With no Pro in sight, it will have to be a PC. Most likely the HP Z820. But then maybe I should just as well buy a laptop from HP also... :(

This is what the Mac Pro page had listed yesterday:

I had hoped to see an update to the Mac Pro. I think that it would be really nice to have a desktop computer that is easy to upgrade, do routine maintenance, easily add another hard drive or update to a newer/better video card. I do hope that it has not been EOL'd.

New stock configurations are quad and 12 core? That's new, isn't it? Used to be 4 and 8 with the 12 as a BTO.

no.

it hasn't been updated. i unfortunately, can wait no longer... if there isn't something up by the end of the day, i am throwing in the towel and building my own tower.

And the stock quad used to be 2.8GHz; now it's 3.2. The 8 core seems to be gone, so it's 4/6/12 now. Not much of an update, but it's an update.

Huh.. the 9to5 Mac rumor on the Mac Pro was right on the money.

On one hand, that's good for them. On the other, that Mac Pro "upgrade" is incredibly un-inspiring.

Deep sixing the Mac Pro line almost makes more sense than that "upgrade".

I agree - really disappointing update, considering Mac Pros have been so neglected.

no.

it hasn't been updated.

Wrong, it has, as detailed above...it's just a very very very tiny update.

Just ridiculous, this is the update they should have made mid 2011 or so when Intel didn't have new chips yet. I feel bad for those who waited on buying a MP for this pathetic "update".

I'm another that has "waited" long enough. I have seen the light they are shining. The only "desktop" they are offering into the future seems to be the iMac.

Oh well, they have spoken and now we just need to react. Stick with the Mac Pros we have or go apples route with the all in one's...

This is BAD BAD BAD

This could be a turning point for Apple which has been sailing "insanely high" on mobile computing. For the company who seemed to be so concerned about changing the world (Tim Cook speech today), they are allowing the biodiversity of their product ecosystem to wither here. The Mac Pro can't sell itself. Apple management is blinded by the new nimble quick-reaction paradigm of management. It will be impossible to fix the damage when users vote no on dated Mac Pro specs, and self-fulfilling prophecy when Cook then quickly pulls the plug in a snap maneuver. Fast forward a year when the market figures out that docked notebooks are not for heavy thermal grinding tasks and wants new towers. Too late. :apple:
