Update, here's an example of the type of post I'm referring to, please read before voting so you know what we're talking about.

Reported the post you quoted to the mods. It's now been deleted.

In other words, if you see a post that you think is over the line, report it, instead of cluttering up the forum with complaints about other people's behavior.

The title is misleading. It's not user testing, it's kids installing beta software to show off to their friends. Some say they will submit bugs to Apple, that's great, and I bet Apple can't wait to hear what a 14-year-old thinks.

If you're not a developer, don't install beta software on your phone.
If you're a developer or not, don't install beta software on your primary device
If you do, don't complain about things not working, it's beta for a reason, and you're a d*****s

I have nothing against end-users trying betas on their devices but I'm just sick of the weirdos complaining about the bugs and/or apps crashing or whatever.

Seriously, don't make threads asking for help with the bugged beta version of IOS installed on your bugged iPhone. Nobody can't and shouldn't help you! Move on!

So what if kids like showing off to their freinds, if it makes them happy then so be it. I find it interesting that you think people coomplaining about beta software (the people you know are likely to be kids) need to be insulted and therefor publicly humilated. I find the prospect of deliberately trying to humilate a kid shocking and fail to see how anyone with any morals could justify such behaviour.

Maybe if Apple wanted to control it then they should only release Beta's to those people who have Apps within the App Store at the time of release of the Beta.

Just a thought!

I don't think that's a good idea. I'm developing my first app intended for App Store (I have made one jailbreak only app just for fun before) and I'm running iOS 7 beta on my phone to make sure my app runs fine on iOS 7 from the beginning. I'm also testing it in iOS 6 Simulator and on an iPad running iOS 6. That app is a game, so iOS 7 API/design guidelines changes doesn't matter that much though.

However, since iOS 7 has radically changed the interface, one may chose to start developing an iOS 7-only app with looks matching those of iOS 7 and release it on the release date of iOS 7. This way he/she can gain competitive advantage over those not as fast updating their apps for iOS 7, needless to say an app designed with iOS 7 in mind from beginning will probably perform and look better on iOS 7 than an updated iOS 6 app.

There's nothing wrong with user testing so long as people understand bugs are to be expected. Programmers are only human and betas are used to identify mistakes that have been made in the coding.

Discussing bugs and potential solutions is also fine, but it's when you can tell people are clearly annoyed about there being bugs that it becomes silly; because that's clearly having no regard to what a beta actually is.

You should not under any circumstances expect it to run smoothly. Even if it does run smoothly, that's not guaranteed and its certainly not a right.

I'm not trying to humiliate them. If they put beta software on their only phone, don't go on forums and talk about this things not working. Not only does this violate the NDA you agree to when installing, but it just makes you look like an idiot. You are not supposed to talk about the software (this includes questions) anywhere other than the apple developer forum. They need to be prepared to face the consequences for putting unfinished software on your only phone. The only answer to any questions about something not working should be "go back to iOS 6.1.3(4), and stop playing with beta software that you shouldn't even have access to in the first place"
