I think that everyone deals with death differently...To criticize someone for the way they deal with it, as some are doing on this thread, is ignorant and completely uncalled for.
In your Jimi's live performance example, you assume that someone is getting something out of the experience that "he would never pay" to have and now happily pays $500 for that.
What's the difference here? It's not like giving away $500 for nothing. You get a phone!
You don't think there is any relationship between the 4S and Steve. But some people (including myself) do.
If you are a jimi hendrix fan, going to a live show is rewarding because... Well... You get to see him live.
If you are a Steve Jobs fan (whatever that means), you buy a 4s?
The music /sports analogy works because you are getting a direct live experience with the person you like.
With the iphone, it is not the case. Like I said, jobs probably said "make the phone thinner and more elegant" and the design team kept bringing him designs until he okay'd one of them.
People are acting as if steve himself hand crafted the iphone they will be purchasing.
But whatever, to each his own. No point in arguing this any further

Yeah, now I will pay tribute to him by spending $600 ...
No it didn't. What a strange question.
Considering that Steve probably had less to do with this iPhone then any other model I don't feel any more inclined to buy it then I normally would have.
The 4S was probably being developed around the iPhone 4 time when he was still CEO so he probably did weigh in on it.
I was also on the fence. His dying didn't make me want to get the phone, but it reminded me how awesome the device is and how much effort and time is put into it, somehow. I also figured that I'll somehow use my Mom's upgrade to get the 5, and so I don't lose anything.
Does Steve Jobs passing make you use your Apple devices (insert the forum category title here like iPhone, iPad, etc) a little more lovingly today?
