Just tried upgrading my wife's 4S and it went through with no issues.
I am still getting the error "The SIM card in your iPhone does not match the SIM card associated with your account." AT&T is trying to tell me that their servers are so swamped. BULLCRAP! That may be an issue earlier but it obviously is not true right now.
Will update if I learn anything else. I am guessing we are going to have to go to an Apple Store and get the phone swapped.
I tried once in the middle of the night when I woke up, the iPhone 4S was off for about 5 hours (thinking it might need ti just set awhile) nope it still says "SIM card with iPhone does not match SIM card associated with account" so I think I am going to make a genius bar appointment and see what they say, only issue I may run into is that dont have any iPhone 4S replacements or refer me to AT&T. Bottom line it is something ATT or Apple have to fix its not a lag in the network!

yes that is exactly what is happining to me but now apparently i cant reactivate the sim that came with my phone because i already activated the new one? im hopleslly lost
Mine is saying the same thing, even after waiting all night so I know its not a network lag because people are activating their iPhones almost instantly. I am going to Apple, I ordered mine from Apple and I mean they need to fix it or replace it or refund my money so I can buy a new one but this time ill order it through AT&T i think those customers are not experiencing the SIM issue

Called AT&T back and got someone who was actually good at their job! (I know, amazing, right?) Their manager thinks my phone shipped with a bad SIM. They can't answer why I can use this damaged SIM in my iPhone 4 though. Off to the Corporate AT&T store tomorrow for some answers.
I wonder if that can be the case being that it works fine in your iPhone 4? Mine has he same exact issue, it gives me the "SIM not associated with the account and can not activate iPhone" but when I put it in my iPhone 4 it works fine, ATT says my account matches the SIM. My question is can ATT or Apple replace the SIM card and activate the phone being that if they replace the SIM how is the new SIM going to match my account lol ugghhhh
