I notice safari heavy ram usage are during downloads. normal surfing it use not more than 500mb.

10.7.1 has actually given me a problem that I didn't have before. The sound in the menu bar is greyed out and cannot change music up or down. I can only resolve this issue by running "sudo killall coreaudiod" in terminal, or by plugging in headphones then unplugging them.

Resetting the PRAM works too but when I restart the computer normally it goes back to being greyed out again. Anyone else having this issue?

This happened to me twice in Lion, but that was in 10.7.0. It got fixed on its own by unplugging and plugging back my speakers a few times. I also noticed the red optical light coming out of the audio out port, don't know if it was related but it didn't happen again. This was all on 10.7.0, not .1.

Thanks for the info, I'll just do that and see if the problem simply goes away. Not a major issue just a minor annoyance.

possible. you might try "calibrating" the battery, also. run the machine down to 0 battery life and then let it sit for 4-5 hours in the "Dead" state. then charge it all the way back up. this is to help the battery remember the full vs dead state, and can improve battery life if done monthly/bi monthly. my machine's battery life is about the same, though it was on the decline last year prior to lion being released. I don't think that the other person's anecdotal evidence has anything to do with your situation. My guess is the battery is just getting older. try calibrating it and see if that helps. I monitor my computer's stats at all times and haven't noticed a huge difference in cpu use from SL to Lion, if anything I use less cpu overall now (5-15% of the capacity of my core 2 duo as compared to the 10-20% on average under SL). give it a shot, report back!

 I think Darkest Ritual gets off on using the word anecdotal, even though he doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. Many other people are having this same issue which you can find here https://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-1198930.html

There has been one temporary solution proposed which is an app to help control the GPU's which you can find here http://www.shaasthra.com/2011/08/revealed-mac-os-x-lion-battery-drain.html

I have done an SMC reset, PRAM reset, cycled the battery etc. ad nauseum with no changes in battery life. If you had read what the dude said about his Macbook Pro, you would have seen that although it is an older model, he bought it as a refurb in 2011. Apple puts new batteries in refurbs before they sell them, so unless he has a defective battery, it is highly unlikely that battery age or wear is a factor. There is however, anecdotal evidence that Darkest Ritual wears black lipstick and lives is his mother's basement. Just sayin'..:D

I installed the update and zapped the PRAM, but the WiFi issue is still b0rcked.

Same here... Still have to wait for my wifi network to re-appear in the menu extra drop down then manually select it every time my MBP awakes.

ETA: my router is a 1st Gen Airport Extreme Base Station. Never had any issues from Tiger through Snow Leopard.

iMovie Issues / Finder issues / Dock issues

iMovie issues (Experienced on mid 2010 iMac, 2009 MacBook, Early 2010 MacMini)

. Picture in picture will add in a different picture to the one you are dragging. The clip shows the intended picture but the viewer shows a different one. In playback, no picture is there at all.
. iMovie is incredibly sluggish and on the iMac, completely refuses to do simple tasks and crashes after dragging the first clip into a project.

Finder Issues (Experienced on all machines above)

. Dragging a file from the Finder window into trash causes the window to lose its left-hand side menu and for the column adjacent to it to be half in and out of the left hand frame. Dragging the window side or scrolling horizontally within the window doesn't resolve the issue. Closing the window and reopening it puts it back to normal. Right click 'Move to Trash' doesn't cause this problem.

Dock Issues
. I have the dock hidden. When using some applications (typically Safari), dragging the mouse to the bottom of the screen to reveal the dock simply doesn't work. I have to change to a different application to be able to show the dock. On a few occasions, I haven't been able to get the dock to show even when I only have the desktop screen and no applications open immediately after booting up or restarting the machine. Again, setting the dock to not be hidden and then turning 'Dock hiding back on in the 'Apple' menu resolves the issue in most cases.

Not having a good experience with Lion at all. :( I wonder if it is possible to reinstall Snow Leopard? The recent update was not very helpful other than it did solve the Wi-Fi issue on the iMac.

I'm happy to report that I completely SOLVED my issue by taking out my old GeForce 7300 (that came with my Mac Pro) because I've been using the ATI Radeon 4870 instead.

Just simply taking out that old graphics card (just sitting there in a slot, with nothing hooked up to it) solved my issues.

I'm so happy now!!!

Didn't solve my Wi-Fi issues. Actually gave me more issues. Screen flickering and static-ish appearence when exiting Safari. So I'm back to 10.6.8.

what about the NAS (external storage) connection problems? Are these fixed with 10.7.1?

Nope. Wifi on and off does not connect when i have mail, safari open and time machine running a save to time capsule after sleep on 2010 MBP. For it to connect I have to close the networked programs, disconnect wifi and reconnect wifi if I open a webpage in safari before noting that I have no bars for example. It crashes.

1 hour ago even that did not fix it, had to do a hard reboot and having all programs opened on startup! (idiotic standard feature when it comes to buggy software problems). The wifi did connect though. sigh.

I have a mid 2009 MBP and I'm having the same issue. My battery is at 98% health and was getting 7 hours on a full charge until the day I upgraded to Lion. Battery life dropped instantly to 2-3 hours. I have some Apple engineers working on a fix with mine. It has been suggested that the issue is related to the GPU's. The update did not fix my issue.
x2 w/battery issues

10.7.1 allows me to wake the mbp from sleep by tapping the trackpad now (swipe still doesnt work) instead of having to hit a key.

Everything else seems to be working ok. Geekbench reports benchmarks within a few points of 10.7, 10.6.8 and 10.6.5

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Nope. Still have to manually connect to wifi after sleep. Mission control animation isnt smooth. MBP 2011.

I had my IT Specialist brother in law take a look at 10.7.1. He said there was a lot of bad code in terminal relating to the IPV4 an IPV6 handling services. I also asked him to look at the package contents of the 10.7.1. update and said "...There's nothing in here to fix airport...."

....Funny, Apple. Funny.

Unfortunately not. Have had the same issue several times, open the lid of my MBP to wake it, get no display and have to do a hard restart. Get a Kernel Panic when it gets to the log in screen, resulting in another hard restart, then working agin.

Happened to me earlier today. Was hoping the update would have fixed it, have already done a clean install after trying the standard upgrade. There's lots to Lion I really like, but I've seen more Kernel Panics since I installed it, than I did in the entire time using Leopard and Snow Leopard combined :(
