It's absolutely insane that we're all excited over a cheap plastic keyboard which has become a major selling point. Keyboards have been around for decades with no issues. Now Apple reverts back to a regular keyboard and users are willing to throw money and even pay a premium for the privilege. Seems almost like extortion (keyboard ransom). Ditto for our ESC key. Yes, I'll pay the Apple ransom for the 16" Pro to, to buy back what every other vendor offers, but it will feel like Cook has locked me up in the Saudi Ritz-Carlton for a shakedown.

Ok you do not know all up upgrades in the new model, it may have WIFI 6, faster processors, better graphics cards, cheaper SSD storage, new Bluetooth and other technology we have no idea at this time.

Personally, my one hope is that they expand memory capacity to 64GB

I have dozens of programs that run at start from system monitors to weather to all kinds of handy utilities. With 32GB, I was often nearing my limits when I opened up a memory-hog app on top of all that.

but how about an imac with thinner bezels. from switching between my liquid retina ipad and iphone 11 pro, i almost flinch everytime i see my imac's bezels. they're literally the size of the notch.
How do you survive? Do you get therapy for this? Does that extra bezel real estate around the iMac screen make it harder to get it into your pocket?

How is this a problem?

Let’s have them work on getting functional keyboards and get rid of thermal throttling first.

Such a big **** you to people who upgraded their MBP this summer, just a few months ago. I bought a completely upgraded MBP 2019 model. Waited 3 years to upgrade. And then they bring a new, better and proper redesigned model just a few months later? Wtf.

Should have released both these models at the same time, so there would maybe be a cheaper "older style" model for those who wanted that, and newer 16" model for those who wanted the high end. Just disgusting behavior and screwing over this customers.

You can't be serious.

Companies release products, then they release newer products. There will be newer products that come following these ones too.

There are MANY products in the pipeline -- all PRO. Including the new MBP, the iPad Pro, the iTracker and the new AirPods. Possibly also, a new Apple TV.
iPad Pros aren't coming out until March. Apple is not releasing new iPads a year after the biggest redesign they've ever seen. All you have to do is look at the buyer's guide to see their cycle. iPad Pros have always been on a 14 to 16 month cycle. Apple TV and the Tile competitor are just rumors, nothing substantiated. The Macbook Pro won't be a redesign, it will feature a new keyboard and a bigger display. That's it. There's no need to introduce it. There is no October event, end of story.

$3,000 is twice as much as the *average* worker earns in my (Western European) country per month. Considering that one usually has to pay for rent, food etc. a price of $3,000 is above the amount one can put aside within a year. Yes, that is expensive.

To those people it may be a lot, but for most people it isn't THAT much. Is it relatively expensive? Sure, but for something you use every day for years, it really isn't that bad.

Is Apple supplying information directly to you or do you just have the same hunch the rest of us have?

I hate people who come across as being so "definitive" with their information when they don't have anything definitive.

You may be right, but let's remember, none of us can say definitively Apple will do this or that.

I came to a point in life where I am willing to pay much higher prices if the product I want does exist.

If this is reliable hardware, and can do high computation tasks without melting the motherboard, ...take my money.

But it is sad to see Apple turning from the "personal" computer for everyone to make life easier, into a high end pro product. I guess it was more like a BMW 3 series which is now the most expensive Rolls Royce. Its been a long time since it had the colourful friendly welcoming iMacs.

I'm guessing the starting price will be $3999, but this will be with 1Mb of RAM and a 30Mb hard drive.

Or, another way to look at is....There is no 16 inch MacBook Pro. It hasn't been announced. There's no event scheduled. In a world outside of Macrumors, there is a 2019 15 inch MacBook Pro and then there is next year.

Well realistically $3999 on a Macbook Pro sounds really insane. What makes it worth it though?
Much like the new Mac Pro this laptop (most likely) isn't meant for normal consumers. For 90%+ of Mac users it's probably not worth it, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth it for some professionals who need the extra performance/ screen real estate. Paying $4k for something that has a significant impact on your productivity / the quality of your work (= more money earned) can make a lot of sense for some professionals. It's similar to how some professional musicians/ photographers spend tens of thousands of dollars on equipment.

People really think the base of these machines will be $2999? Surely not. I assume these will replace the 15" MBP, so I would hope they would come at the same price point or slightly more. I also hope they will have Vega chips standard. As with all product launches, I am prepared to be disappointed.

Insanity belongs to the company who thought a near zero travel keyboard was a good idea! (Knowing what people like, they decided to give us something completely different...)

The people who are anticipating a new machine the most are the ones who havent bought a new computer since 2015....because of the keyboard!

These are the same people who are likely to watch these threads, for obvious reasons...well, obvious to most of us!

Wow! Captain poopy pants was quick on the draw!

Of course...because no price and no specs are available, it is 100% logical to assume double a reasonable price.

Nobody who is allowed to say anything knows, but if being negative makes you happy...

Why would a slightly larger display mean it’s not meant for most consumers? Apple used to make 17” MacBooks. It should be priced very similar to the current 15” models. But I guess with so many here anticipating an outrageous price hike, why wouldn’t Apple rake it in.

Apple's pricing for higher end products does make sense for the intended market. The Mac Pro and 16" Macbook Pro will be a business tax writeoff for me so the effective cost is 50% less. Amortized over the years I use it the cost is completely negligible. Cost is an insignificant factor in my decision. I only care that the tool does what I need. The real problem with Apple is that they refused to draw a clear distinction between their "pro" products and consumer line. The new Mac has made this distinction but macbooks have not. Apple needs to make a legit "pro" Macbook that is larger with top notch thermals, ports, etc. They can charge $6K+ as a base model and the target market will absorb it because, once again, cost is not the deciding factor. Then they need to make a high end "enthusiast" Macbook for under $3K that consumers want.

Stop repeating the same over and over again because there will be no October event this yet or else the invites would’ve already been sent. This new MacBook Pro could be released in March next year, at best.

Did you read the article? You didn't?

The worst comments are the ones that arise from people not reading the thing everyone else is commenting on.

I've been waiting using an old 2012 iMac to replace my old MBP that is broken. I was about to give up and just buy the MID 2019 15" MBP because I've started to lose faith in Apple's ability to keep up to expectations and promised like the 16" model and the always coming but never arriving Mac Pro and iMac Pro. I'll give it another 2 weeks.
