I do hope Apple replace the 13 inch version with a 14 inch version next year. I can't see Apple having three sizes next year (13 inch 15 inch and 16 inch). There's not enough justification (especially since the 16 inch is just smaller bezels with the physical size of the Macbook being extremely similar). Moreover, having 13 inch and 16 inch is quite the size gap, with consumers already mentioning they want a 14 inch now.

Edit - I would only see Apple having three Macbook Pro sizes if they went the 17 inch route, as this would allow more room for better components and cooling.

Hmm why do I need a high resolution 18" display again? When i can get 32" thunderbolt display?

Because a 32" doesn't fit on my lap and isn't in anyway portable.

I enjoy using my 55" 4k TV as my main monitor at home but I can't take it anywhere.

A 15" screen seems very small to me and thinning the bezels is an imperceptible difference.

Stop repeating the same over and over again because there will be no October event this yet or else the invites would’ve already been sent. This new MacBook Pro could be released in March next year, at best.

The 32GB 15" (a big deal for many) was introduced w/out an event last year.

Hi, this looks interetsing but I'm not getting excited until it does come out. I've gor a 2011 MacBook Pro. There's nothing wrong with it but just wondering if it's time to updgrade. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Maybe to macbook pro mid 2012 to get USB3.0.

As for me mid 2012 is still the last good apple laptop for reasons: upgradable, good keyboard. I have 2 internal hard drives and plan to upgrade from 1tb ssd to 2tb ssd soon, so I will have 3TB internal storage and will keep upgrading as SSD price drop. 2012 is a last model I can do it easily and don't need bunch of dongles/external drives.

It's good if they fix keyword. I'll consider to upgrade after they made painless hard-drive upgrade, that probably might never happen...

IS it just me or visually it won't look too different than the 2019 15" which I have.... not sure it would be worth the upgrade unless it was affordable.... others see /feel this?

So the real question is: how does this 16” MBP fit in with Apple’s purported plan to transition to ARM?

Is anyone here concerned about dropping $3,000-$4,000 USD on a new 16” MBP, only to have Apple transition to ARM 6-8 months later and effectively end support for that Mac?

I can imagine if they do go ARM, support for both would be rather messy.

Yeah but now I don’t know whether to buy this or wait for the ARM macs next year o_O. The new Mac Pro is intel of course so they’ll be supported for a long time, but looking at my iPad Pro crush 6k video rendering the way it does, a fanless ARM mac is too appealing . Plus no intel markup...

You ASSUME a long support cycle for the new Mac Pro, but that was not the case when Apple transitioned from PPC to Intel.

Apple could simply release the MP and use that to tide over users until an ARM equivalent is ready (if ever). You might only get one more OS upgrade and one year of security after that, just like the PPC to Intel transition.

We have having issues with older 32 bit apps right now in Catalina, can you imagine a whole new processor platform to deal with also.

Indeed, that's what I mean. I'd imagine Apple would need many more developers for their OS, it's going to be a rather costly and risky decision. I'm sure the good ol' risk management team will be rather busy.

First, rare that a new machine is worth an upgrade over the one from just last year.
But, more importantly, “visually” is not the way most people would judge the value of a pro laptop.

If it has a reliable keyboard and a viewing area something close to the old 17” machines, plus an actual ESC key, that‘s a pretty compelling machine for a lot of people.

It wouldn't be new for Apple though, they did switch from PPC to Intel already:

And from Motorola to PPC, let’s not forget.

Why? Genuinely curious as I haven't upgraded yet. We'll all have to go to Catalina or equivalent 64-bit only OS at some point if it's not today...

There are some 32-bit apps I must have access to that will not run properly in virtualization. Hopefully by the time the next MacOS is released, I'll have other options.

I'm really starting to wonder if it will release at all. I'd be amazed if it was released without an event.

Still, this is the best MBP design there has ever been:

What are those huge holes on the side of the chassis? They look horrible.
