What price it is released at is irrelevant. My point still stands. You can’t guarantee anything, and what is an absurd price to you may not be to me, or someone else.

Nah I don’t think so bud. It’ll be released at a price that is not in line with what it’ll offer, just like most new Apple laptops. You might not think it’s absurd but most people will because they can get the same value somewhere else for less. That’s how it works. Unless you HAVE to have a Mac or macOS, most people will do some research and find a much better bang for their buck product.

Could new MacBook be powered by Project Athena? Page below states that the first wave of laptops is on the way and mentions fast charging among other things.

It looks like there won't be any October keynote. So MBP + Mac Pro press release? It makes sense. And also they might not wanna talk much about the keyboard, just "quietly" switch to scissor mechanism. Maybe we will see a release tomorrow = new Surface products are gonna launch tomorrow, so Apple might be planning to steal the attention 😊

Apple will sell far more than 10k 16” MBP. There are plenty more types of pros than audio/video, and lots of them would want a larger, higher resolution screen.

Developers are a huge market for Apple, and the 16” will be very attractive to them—even without its rumored hard escape key.
That still leaves the issue that an underpowered MBA and a 13"/15" MBP with lackluster keyboard aren't a great product lineup, some people simply cannot afford $3,000 (or even more outside the US) for a laptop.

My guess is if the 16" ships at near the same size as the current 15", a 14" in nearly the same size as the current 13" will ship in 6-8 months later.
Do you think people will like to buy the current 13" once Apple starts marketing the new 16" as the laptop with a keyboard that finally works?

Calm down, he's saying $3000 not $30,000. lol.
$3,000 is twice as much as the *average* worker earns in my (Western European) country per month. Considering that one usually has to pay for rent, food etc. a price of $3,000 is above the amount one can put aside within a year. Yes, that is expensive.

to all who are whining about the price, go back five, 10, 20 years and look at the prices Apple has charged for their high-end machines. They have always been high. If you use them professionally, it’s not a big deal. You can always write them off.
You do know there are countries in which people who don't own a business cannot write anything off?

Lot's of people would buy this for 3-5k depending on GPU, CPU and storage:
1) Many pros really need this and for them it's an investment.
2) For middle class income people this is a nice desktop replacement.
3) If you live in Boston, NYC, San Francisco or LA and you are a young professional just starting your job you likely pay more than that as rent per month. So this kind of expense is just an average add on to your overall cost of living.
And if you live in a country in South America, Africa or Asia, you might not even earn $1,000 per month – even as a professional.

Expensive to you, yes. To me seems more than reasonable to buy a product that pays for itself very quickly. In fact I argue that hardware is cheap as chips. I have to pay nearly the price of a MBP every year in app subscriptions.

I am looking forward to buying the 16”.

A lot of trolls on this site who claim they do not own and plan not to buy an Apple gear due to price, yet they are squandering their time, which is infinitely more valuable and precious by hanging out here and, well, trolling. What a waste. Have fun with your better choices. Back to work.

Since Apple's conference call to discuss fourth fiscal quarter results is scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, 2019

That would leave Tuesday, Oct 29 as a possible announcement day. I would think that they would want to do that before the financial report meeting.

Such a big **** you to people who upgraded their MBP this summer, just a few months ago. I bought a completely upgraded MBP 2019 model. Waited 3 years to upgrade. And then they bring a new, better and proper redesigned model just a few months later? Wtf.

Should have released both these models at the same time, so there would maybe be a cheaper "older style" model for those who wanted that, and newer 16" model for those who wanted the high end. Just disgusting behavior and screwing over this customers.

I don't think Apple screwed over anybody.

I mean, the rumors have been out there for at least 7 months. If you follow sites like these, you would have gotten wind of Apple's plans.

Apple generally does a refresh of all their models every year.

This certainly is no surprise to most of us.

I’m not an insider, but here is my prediction:

-Face ID
-Tech borrowed from Mac Pro (at least for display)
-Higher memory capacity

This will probably be marketed as a portable Mac Pro, or companion to. Not for everyone, just like the Mac Pro. The $2999 starting prediction is probably right, but it could easier go higher depending on how ‘pro’ they go.

This is what I would do if I were making the decisions.

Please NO Touch Bar. That’s all I ask.
If Apple takes a similar approach to the Mac Pro with this MacBook Pro, aka abandoning their one size fits all routine and providing options that meet the feedback requests, then a version without a Touch Bar sounds plausible.

Apple paid very close attention to addressing as many complaints as possible with the Mac Pro. I'm hopeful that this is the same goal with the new MacBook Pro.

Well you current Macbook Pro has a lot of value left on it. You could find someone who would want it if you drop the price $200. Get the cash and get the new model. Find a student at a university or other places. With now Facebook Market, offerup, ebay and others i am sure you can find a buyer with all the Internet selling places we now have.

I want Face ID in this machine more than most people, and it makes so much sense that I don't know how it still isn't in a single Mac.

But the iMac Pro doesn't have it. And the XDR display won't even have it.

Apple seems hell bent on keeping that out of the Mac, and instead continuing to force the god-awful Touch ID implementation on us.

It's absolutely insane that we're all excited over a cheap plastic keyboard which has become a major selling point. Keyboards have been around for decades with no issues. Now Apple reverts back to a regular keyboard and users are willing to throw money and even pay a premium for the privilege. Seems almost like extortion (keyboard ransom). Ditto for our ESC key. Yes, I'll pay the Apple ransom for the 16" Pro to, to buy back what every other vendor offers, but it will feel like Cook has locked me up in the Saudi Ritz-Carlton for a shakedown.

Both icons look the same and both have big, ugly bezels. If that's "slimmer bezels" to you guys, please raise your standards.

I have to agree. I have real mixed feels about rewarding Apple for this, because it does indeed feel like keyboard ransom (great phrase).

We've needed a fixed keyboard for 3 years, and now Apple is going to dangle one in front of everybody for a few months. Want a MacBook with a keyboard that doesn't suck? $3k please. It is certainly no accident that the new-old keyboard will debut in this most-expensive machine.
