I'd far rather Apple took the time to get things right than deal with flawed designs like the 2016 MBP all over gain for another 4 years...Unacceptable. How many years have these been delayed already?!
1) These machines will be expensive. A 14” MacBook Pro, presumably with a more powerful chip, new screen, starting at 16GB, will probably start at $1,699, maybe more. 16” may start at $2,000 or more
I am so glad this is a Digitimes rumour. Otherwise I would have believed it.
Apple is widely rumored to be planning redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with mini-LED displays, but the notebooks may be released later than expected.

While multiple sources have indicated that Apple planned to release the new MacBook Pro models in the second half of 2021, including analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Taiwanese supply chain news website DigiTimes today claimed that the launch of MacBooks with mini-LED displays may be postponed until some point in 2022.
The full report has yet to be released, but a paywalled preview reads as follows:No further details are available at this time, but the full report should be published by tomorrow, and we'll update this post accordingly.
In early March, Japanese publication Nikkei Asia reported that Apple had delayed mass production of two new MacBook models from May or June until the second half of the year, which might be a factor behind the potential launch delay.
The new MacBook Pro models are expected to be powered by an improved iteration of Apple's custom M1 chip. In the event that Apple is facing manufacturing challenges with notebook-sized mini-LED displays, Apple could certainly update the existing MacBook Pro with Apple silicon this year as a stopgap, but it's unclear if the company would do so.

I know people are waiting for the high end MacBooks with new screen technology and such, but a few things...
2) Aren’t both the M1 Macbook Air and M1 MacBook Pro in their current form more powerful than the MacBook Pro 16” is now?
CPU-wise, yes. The GPUs on the higher-end 16" MBPs are significantly more powerful than the M1's, however.
I am in the same boat as you. Getting close to 10 years old. Works fine if I keep it plugged in. Do not want to wait much longer,I really hope we don't see a delay into 2022. My 2012 Macbook pro is on its last legs. Have been patiently waiting for the Apple silicon 16" Macbook pro; would buy today if available.
This is the biggest question mark for me. I wonder if simply doubling GPU cores will exceed (or even match) an AMD 5600M.
0?Unacceptable. How many years have these been delayed already?!
Oh yea the Magic Macs with the windows that don't move.
Meanwhile PCs have perfectly well functioning screens. Guess their Windows keep on moving randomly or they are all to be thrown away 'after a few weeks'

Great points all around. That, and the current memory limits. 16 GB in a Macbook Air or a 13" MBP, when the Intel versions it was replacing were also limited to 16 GB max, is not a huge deal. But 16" MBPs can be ordered with 64 GB, with (I am assuming) a large number of them bought with 32 GB.
16 GB is simply not enough for many pro workflows. And even though the unified memory architecture is faster, that 16 GB in the M1 Macs is shared across the CPU and GPU. The 16" MBPs all have dedicated graphics with their own pool of memory, making the limited amount in the M1 even more of an issue.
