I definitely believe you that you got the iPhone app to work on the iPad.... it likely doesn't check the same way as the iPad app ... not sure why it's a big deal though, since most people in this thread are discussing the iPad app, lol.

Like I posted, the xCon fix is out, but I don't know how to use it, so I'm waiting to hear from someone who knows how to use it so we can all have our DTV app.

No man, I am saying I got the directv iPad app to work, but I edited a lot of the keys within the app, but it didn't work until I installed the iPhone dtv app.

Yeah, my guess is you were so exhausted from randomly editing keys, that you didn't know what u were seeing and think you did something. lol. Computers are black and white, things either work or they don't.

If you really want to focus on getting it working, look at xCon's fix, it says confirmed to work with DTV 1.3.5, but even when i install it I'm still getting the jailbreak message.

Dude, I watched NFL network for like 15mins on the app, when it loaded it had that over screen instructional thing telling how to use the app, then it asked if I wanted to enable live viewing on the iPad and I pressed yes then watched the NFL network. I'm going to work on it more once my wife goes to bed tonight.

Well it somewhat discredits you when you include irrelevant info about your personal life, and if it supposedly worked, then stopped working without any changes on your part, surely you can understand why one might be skeptical.

But hey do your thing. Push buttons hoping something will happen, lol

Lol,sorry I don't see the correlation between me saying something about waiting till my wife sleeps and me lying about the app working. Which I thought it was relevant since people would say "why don't u work on it now". But I'm going to keep trying, I promise you and everyone else I DID HAVE IT WORKING!.

Exactly, there's no correlation, it's just useless information. People tend to add useless information to try and make themselves more credible.

Either way, nobody is going to believe you had it working unless you can reproduce, or provide credible evidence. Oh wait, you promised, so it must be true.

how are you installing it? just save the deb at that link then drop it into the var/root/media/cydia/autoinstall dir?
I placed the deb file in var/mobile and then using iFile clicked on the file which gives you a popup, select installer and that's it.

ok, got it working. i was downloading the deb file from the first page. once i clicked on it then clicked on view raw and downloaded that file it worked.

directv app launches fully now.

thanks

There's an easier way : Go into Cydia on the ipad. Search for xcon

Install. Viola! MUCH easier than the iFile route.

Thanks guys for the hard work.

Many people were asking why DirecTV cares whether or not your device is jailbroken or not. Quite simply, DTV lost 10's of millions of dollars back in the 90's do the guys programming cards and "stealing " programming.

Now that it's lock down tight again, they're once again, making money.

well as a followup, yes the XCON app installed, but now the iPad can't find my receiver.................

So now there's another issue............. What I don't remember is if I had to manually enter the IP of my receiver... I don't rememebr doing that in previous versions....but probably.... may have had too much beer at the time.

Can anyone else verify that upon installation, you HAD to input the IP?

I'll play around with it when I get home from the office.

Sweet!! Works for me, what a glorious app. I <3 jb.

Only issue i see thus far, and havent had time to play with it, is in the "currently watching column". Claims "BEDROOM receiver is set to block the show you are currently watching from being displayed. Program setting on the receiver to allow in order to display the channel."

I'll get a chance to play with it later and update. It might just be on a premium channel or something.

Mine was defaulting to the bedroom as well. You can click on bedroom and select another box that's in the house. Once I did that it worked fine for me.

Now to wait and see how long it takes direct tv to create another fix for this work around.

1.3.6 is out

1.3.6 is out, no doubt defeating the xCon fix. I haven't updated and as of this afternoon 1.3.5 was still working, but its only a matter of time. DirecTV seems to be taking this very seriously .

Well, the fact it didn't force you to do the upgrade as have previous upgrades is a good thing.

1.3.6 does defeat xCon

I installed 1.3.6 and the xCon solution is defeated with this version. I was able to reinstall 1.3.5 and get working again but I expect them to force an upgrade at any time. :(

xCon 11 is out, 1.3.6 is working!

The developer updated xCon, its in Cydia. I've confirmed that DirecTV 1.3.6 on the iPad works now.

The developer mentioned in a thread that he's thinking about making the source code private so that DTV can't just download his code and see how he's defeating their JB check. I'm not clear though if this is just for the source code or the compiled xCon.deb file that's available in the Cydia repository. As of now, the latest version is available in Cydia.
