iPad Directv App Now Say's Not Supported on Jailbroken Devices

This has me livid to no end. :mad: :mad: :mad: If no fix comes out then I'm calling DTV and telling them why I am moving to Dishnet if they don't remove my UDID from the server. I have been with DTV since 1996
 
#1 reason that is keeping me from Jailbreaking.

This app has saved my bacon more then once when I forgot to record the football game or something the wife wanted to watch.

I just wish DirecTV would split the app in 2, I could care less about watching live TV in my own house, I can put the TV on for that.

Just have a vanilla DVR scheduler app and everyone will be happy.

Just fyi, you can do the scheduling from the DTV smartphone app or mobile website. My DTV iphone app works fine on jailbroken because it doesn't stream so I guess they don't care.
 
I have given up and just use a remote app on iTunes to control my receivers the way the DTV app use to. I could care less about streaming.

They do not store UDIDs and lock you out of the app even if you "unjailbreak." I had the xcon patch installed on my JB iPad 2 and just "unjailbroke" and updated to 5.01 and the DirecTV app works just fine. The person who is having that problem is probably having other issues. I got this information from "reliable DirecTV sources" as well as my own person experience.

I just finished restoring my ipad to out of the box state and the Directv app is working. :)
 
Don't know whay I didn't think of this before, but I simply installed the IPHONE version of the app and now I can schedule recordings again. I really don't care about the useless streaming of channels I can easily watch on a TV.
 
TB, that's a good idea. I've been using a bookmark to www.waltzremote.com as a remote control. It does have a rudimentary guide that you can click on the show name and it changes the channel as well as a full screen remote.

Screw DirecTV. You would think they want their app on everyone's device (a constant reminder of DirecTV branding and this cool feature that differentiates it from other providers). But they can just shoot themselves in the foot. I'll take my open, fully customizable iPad (actually themed to look like a honeycomb tablet right now) over some stupid mega Goliath corporation telling me what I can or can't do with my $500 device. I'm glad the Tivo Premiere iPad app works on Jailbroken iPads. Maybe when my DirecTV contract is up I'll go to cable and get a Tivo just out of spite to DirecTV.

DirecTV app works fine on my iPad running 5.0.1 now. Was excited to be able to watch live TV on my iPad... then I found out you need to buy an $80 piece of equipment to do it.

Xcon in Cydia

This method has been patched. Go to Cydia and get Xcon. As of 05/07/12 that works with my iPhone
 
The one thing I have learned is when stuff like this happens to remain calm and don't do anything crazy. After reading though the post I can confirm (like others) that xCon 1.7 does work.
 
As of today, I am jb on 5.1.1, installed xcon and the directv nomad app does not work on iPhone, detected as jb, still.......there was also an update to this app this morning, that I done before I found this forum on this same issue, may not work because of the update today, not sure.... Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
 
Well a new version of the DirecTV app came out today and now I have to wait for xCon to be updated so I can use it.

Never rush into updating anything which requires a new/updated hack to work.
Be it iOS firmware or a single app.
First rule of jailbreaking.
