NBC is only on iOS and not Apple TV. I did not see that from them anywhere. Any idea if this is temporary?

It depends on your market. We have NBC because the local station is owned by the network and it's the local feed. ABC isn't in the guide, but we can watch shows. FOX is the same as ABC and no PBS. No Fox for football is a big problem, but I can pull it off an antenna.

On the experience front, this is a bit of a rough start. Took forever to sign up, kept kicking me out. Doesn't work on Microsoft Edge on the PC, not important, but WTF? Keeps telling me I've exceeded number of streams. Not sure what that's about. I'll play with it for a month, but right now I'm not all that impressed. Sling launched the cloud this morning so that will push AT&T to follow.

Anyone else having issues with your watchlist or favorites? Every time I add a show to my watchlist, it disappears after a while. If I add a channel to my favorites, it does the same thing also.

This too.

No NFL on Fox?

1) I read on the Verge that 5.1 sound is available...does that mean Dolby 5.1? When I watch Netflix on my ATV4 my television has a header that says "Dolby Digital" to confirm it is working. On DirecTV Now I don't see that header...

2) Does anyone notice that the sound is WAY louder through this App? For example - on my Xbox/TiVo/etc I have to have the volume around 35. On the DirecTV Now app I only have to play it at 10. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

I have to lower my receiver about 10 for directv now vs. everything else.

If you are a cell user with unlimited data, this service does in fact qualify as a "DirecTV" service. I spoke with an agent about it this morning and it took her a bit to find.

Not sure what you are talking about.

According to what I have read, if you are an ATT cell user, there are no data charges for Directv streaming. None.

We finally got smart and dropped unlimited about two years ago and have saved at least $2,000 by doing so and picked up hotspot capability along the way.

There is a cell package with unlimited data if you are a U-Verse or DirecTV subscriber. This is separate from the streaming of programming via DirecTV NOW. The question many have had who have this package is whether or not DirecTV NOW is treated like standard DirecTV or U-Verse as a qualifier to retain the unlimited data package.

I lucked out - I have Fox live in my area.

No ABC or NBC though...

Yeah, this is going to be an issue me thinks. Its like going back to 2000 with DirecTV when they didn't have all he locals available in HD. At least then you got the national feeds as a substitute until the local came on line.

I think I'll be holding off on this product until they figure it out. Even at $70 a month it cuts the TV bill in half.

I have all three on iOS Devices but only Fox and ABC on Apple TV. I read where they said to expect this. NBC Provider does not allow it. Hopefully that will change.

For me the $35 per month for Go Big (Grandfathered) and $5 for HBO and a FREE Apple TV for 3 month pre-pay is just to good to pass up. I was paying $15 for HBO Now so my net increase is $25 if I do nothing else. I personally do not need the Apple TV but nice xmas gift for someone else so really saving money in the end.

I have also been using CBS All Access with no commercials for a few months so that is not a big deal.

At this point I am not going to cancel my other TV Service. Directv Now is missing 2 channels that my wife likes. Hallmark Movies (which is part of the first tier so strange) and the Up Channel. Maybe they will be added before the end of the 3 Months.

After the 3 Months will reevaluate. I hope Hulu new streaming service will shine since I also have Hulu with no commercials.

Have U-Verse 200 channels (including locals) and DVR for $78/mo (includes equipment charges, taxes and fees) and U-Verse 45mbps internet for $62/mo. I can pause/resume, ffw/frv, and probably a few other things Directv Now can't do. Already have an aTV4. Just not seeing any value for me in $60/mo for a little over 100 channels, no DVR and limited pausing time. Also, I don't do mobile viewing. So am I missing something? Doesn't seem like a very good offer to me.

Probably not a good solution for you. Also, if you cancelled TV then your $62/mo would probably go up. You did make one mistake with the $60/mo which is $35/mo for early adopters and will be grandfathered in.

For me I also had HBO Now which I was paying $15. So with the $5 HBO Go Add-on my net cost is really only $25. Also, by paying 3 months I get a FREE Apple TV which I will give as a XMAS Gift since I do not need it. So really after XMAS gift I am getting this for 3 months for pretty much no cost. Lastly, my TV Package does not include Golf Channel unless I pay more and with this I now have the Golf Channel back. I am adding this and not cancelling anything for 90 days. Pretty interested in what Hulu comes up with next year. I really like the idea of only having 1 box connected to my TV's which is the Apple TV.

Oh, did not mention since I have AT&T Mobile I can watch TV on my iPad or iPhone while away from home and it will not use my data plan. Pretty cool.

NVM, misread your post.

Weird. All of my locals are network owned and I don't get NBC on AppleTV. ABC and FOX can be live streamed from the AppleTV, some shows say "such and such is blacked out in your area" on FOX.
NBC is only on Mobile Devices at this time. So it is working as expected.

From help.directvnow.com

Click on Local Live Channels and go to the bottom.

**NBC live stream available on mobile and desktop devices only.

You make some good point, like the difference in HBO Now costs which I also have. Believe me, I would LOVE to watch everything through the aTV and I think this is the way it will eventually go. I assumed the $60/mo cost because I didn't think the maturity of the service was enough to induce me to sign up now. Maybe I should consider the free aTV as a present, like you did and jump on the $35/mo service. Guess I can also cancel it after the 3 months as I can't imagine I would continue after that period, considering the service cost and deficiencies. Thanks for making me think about it.

Update:
Just signed up for 3 months. Started watching the Golf Channel. Picture quality is very good. It does have a slight lip-sync issue. To verify, I switched over to U-Verse feed and it was fine. Also, as noted in this thread of the 4 local channels (CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox), only ABC and Fox are available. Switching between channels is pretty fast and smooth. Volume is loud compared to my other feeds and the Guide needs to be simplified/streamlined or something. Scrolling though the entire alphabetical list is cumbersome (no aTV remote track pad scrolling), so I had to make a Favorites list to pair the number of channels down to the ones I use most. This makes moving through the Guide easier.

This app is a good foundation to build from. We'll just have to see how committed Directv is to developing this into a service that could displace cable tv. Needs:
-DVR
-Pause (for longer than a few seconds)
-CBS local
-NBC local
-VOD library expansion
-FFW/Rev
-fix lipsync

Same here on evaluating for 3 months. Is there a way to see which channels work live (Fox, NBC, ABC) in certain areas?

The link says I have NBC available in my area (Chicago) but my understanding is that it is only on Directv Now for iOS at this time and I don't have it in my aTV package. That may be all regional variations though.
I was repliying to another post about where to find the list. Look at the bottom of the list for the following. I just think COMCAST who owns NBC does not allow it except on Mobile and Desktop everywhere.

**NBC live stream available on mobile and desktop devices only.

Sorry, missed that info in the link. Do you have an opinion as to whether the NBC local availability on the aTV is a temporary situation? There is an NBC app for the aTV, isn't there? I know it's not a local but it does provide the network NBC feed, doesn't it?

I wish I knew. Some reports that it was just beta during the demo then other reports that it was a glitch (which is wrong) so really not sure. I think it is up to Comcast which owns NBC. Also, they are still negotiating with CBS. I actually have CBS All Access with no commercial option and it is very good.

Regarding a NBC App. Yes there is one but it does not have LIVE TV Stream. So, similar to what you get with DIRECTV NOW which is on demand while on Apple TV. Also, you can not use the DIRECTV NOW Credentials to activate it. NBC also supports Single Sign-On so once DIRECTV NOW is added to the TV Provider List maybe it will be supported.

Thanks for the insight and info.

Update on service:
I am finding that all of my feeds (e.g. ABC (live), Discovery, CNN, Nat Geo, etc) are in stereo while the feet through U-Verse is 5.1. The ABC network feed (VOD) is 5.1.

Latest info:
5.1 audio is only available on certain VOD feeds. That is a major major deficiency IMO.
