Saw today where DTV now launch won't include login access stand alone apps. That wouldn't matter except ESPN3 is a big deal for me. Hopefully that's coming as well.

I heard there was evidence on their site for support for ESPN and also read about HBO go somewhere... a spokesperson also said TV everywhere support wouldn't be available at "launch"... so hopefully that means it will in the future. It'd be a nice way to get around the 2 stream limit and also potentially have access to more content depending on Now's on demand offerings.

Yeah. I hadn't thought about it being a workaround the stream limit.

I'd be awfully tempted to snatch up both HBO and Cinemax at launch. Could throw those in and still be at $45.

Thanks for that. There are still a lot of unanswered questions. The good thing is, if I don't like the service I can cancel at any time; unlike some services that might lock me in for a year or two.

Very true. Week trial should give a pretty good idea as well.

I don't see any mention of NBC CBS ABC or FOX on there.
From the other thread.

ABC, Fox, and NBC will be available in certain markets. Most likely only markets where the Network owns the station.

This hasn't been the best of launches for directv. I noticed when I woke up just now that the website is down. And the twitter help page said that the app was available, but not now. That it was only available for a short period of time today for testing purposes. And it should be back shortly. Of course that makes you wonder why they would be having so many issues on launch day. o_O
[doublepost=1480504910][/doublepost]Apparently you cannot order and choose in store pick up for the Apple TV. When I tried it just tries to ship me the item. I noticed on the Twitter help page that it now says that if you order online it will ship to you. If you go in the store, it will be available to you in store. Personally I already have an Apple TV I can use now. So I can wait till they ship the next one to me. Plus I don't want to be hassled by someone in store to sign up for AT&T. So I may just have them ship me the extra device.

Looks like if you get in on the early pricing you lock yourself in for that price as long as you keep the service. (I assume) My next billing says Mar. 7th for $40 (w/ HBO) instead of the $60 normal Go Big price plan. :)

Geo restricted by location services it seems. App won't function even with location services off

That is a bummer for mobile. I wish it would just do a quick check on launch and turn off, it is going to kill battery life.

At the unveiling event, the UI looked like the one PS Vue uses. Anyone else notice that?

That most likely is due to broadcasting rights held by local affiliate stations.

It would appear that if you take the trial without prepaying you're out of the free Apple TV. I suppose you can play with the trial a week, cancel, sign up again with another email.

While true for ABC, Fox, NBC, and regional sports networks. Location services has to be on while using the app, regardless of channel.

Maybe it is because I am in a market that gets locals.

I needed an additional Apple TV anyways so $105 with no tax made it worth it to me even if I don't keep the service after 3 months.

I've already got regular DIRECTV so it's harder for me to jump and in three months possibly need to sign back up again.
