Service is down again right now. Can't get nothing, just a blank screen.
Been up all day since 3 PM I lost it once at 4 then ok til now and I left for awhile to local and then back and it was froze for a minute currently working nearly 7 PM here in Illinois

I picked up mine from the at&t store, got the big 60 package for $35. I was hoping I could use the DirecTV now login for some of the atv channel apps. But so far it is a nice service, going to take a while to get used to live TV though.

Still down for me. I get this message now.

Further experimentation with package. I have noticed a few things. As many notice the service in evening prime time has glitches (I am in central Illinois with only Comcast as local internet currently, getting 30 Megabits down, 6-7 Megabits up). So the other night my wife was watching on Direct Now Apple TV app (on my 64 GB appleTV 4th gen that I already had). It was mostly fine and it was prime time. But I found when I did the following things with Mac or iPad at same time then I got lots of the QP1502 error issues:

1) downloading files on mac on network would get the usual errors where the apple TV show would hang with freeze frame and the well known QP1502 error.

2) I could be doing FB or file downloads on my iPad Pro and same freeze frame and the well known QP1502 error

3) run my second stream of Direct TV now and the apple TV would eventually get many freeze frames and QP1502 errors I noted also that iPad Pro never had trouble though while the apple TV did obviously the app and iPad deal with share or get better speeds/buffering whatever problem is than apple TV app. As soon as I quit doing anything on Mac or iPad Pro that involved streaming, FB, file downloads -- basically doing nothing on the ipad Pro that apple TV was fine most of the time with only a few of the QP1502 errors that seemed to start again without me exiting the app and reentering that I had to do when the iPad was conflicting.

Conclusion is that the apple TV somehow does not get lions share of the bandwidth of my comcast network with those speeds going on (I tested during the problems so my speeds were normal). Or the iPad pro is just better than apple TV in buffering lots more memory on (it is the 128 GB model FYI) or the apple TV app is damn buggy?

Only test yet to do is run a show on the 64 GB apple TV 4th gen I had at same time my free 32 GB one is going on TV in family room and see what happens. I was hoping that we could have family watching sports or movies or shows while grandkids watched disney, cartoons ect in family room but it seems the sharing of 2 channels is a bit too beta/flaky or AT&T has server issues?

I get 100 Mbps down and my Apple TV is hardwired to the router. The other streaming apps work fine, I tend to think this is more on Direct TV's side.

Well got to 7 PM and by 7:30 several failures finally Apple TV unusable again. wife now watching her show on a ipad but it locks up some also. have not tried on my pro yet. So mid prime time is bad again as usual

Just got off the phone with the office of the president at AT&T, after I had submitted a Better Business Bureau complaint. Extremely concerning that they don't take their customer's complaints seriously.

Let it be known that prior to this conversation, I had reached out to AT&T to get support for these issues for well over a week, and nothing was resolved. I was promised phone calls and never received any. I was told their Twitter care account would help me only to start the conversation over again at least 10 times. The customer support of this company is absolutely the worst I've ever encountered.

The person on the line informed me that despite what the marketing and help pages say about having shows available within hours after airing, this is up to the networks. While I can understand this to a certain extent, if every single show is showing episodes that are 2-3 weeks old, that's not the fault of the network. It's the fault of the streaming service.

And for 72-hour rewind, that apparently works now, but it didn't until a couple days ago. He denied this completely.

This company has lied, cheated and stolen from its customers. I understand this is a new service, but it's one from the largest TV company on the face of the earth. And if you market it in a certain way, you should at least be held responsible for that. No one should have to pay for a product that isn't as advertised.

With all this said, I'm done with this service, and I will gladly join a class-action lawsuit should anyone decide to go that route. I know I'm not the only one who's completely pissed about them baiting customers.

I felt the need to post this so maybe someone can re-think their decision before signing up for a three-month commitment of this half-baked service. I hope the FCC rips apart this company bit by bit.

Agreed with all you said... the service has been half baked and they better have the service running to it's full potential by the end of my trial or I'm out as well. The biggest pain is the VOD selection... NONE of them are remotely up to date... and how "selective" the 72 hour rewind feature is... why isn't every Bizarre Foods on the 72 hour rewind? It's only a select few eps... it doesn't make any sense at all!

My wife had no problem watching the rest of her shows on her iPad after a couple glitches. so iOS seems to work well but from other comments here apple TV, firestick and android have problems. I also have not had trouble watching on my Mac in Safari but dang it I want to use my apple TV with big screens also....

Wow, if you're with AT&T, I believe they'll even give you a free iPhone 7($650 credit) if you sign up for DirecTV.

Look at the packages for regular DirecTV. You are bound for 24 months. The "good price" is for 12 months. The other 12 months you pay a lot more.

Let's do the math. In my area the Select package will start out at $50 per month. You will also get HBO, Stars and Showtime free for three months. After that it says the price for HBO, Stars and Showtime is $59.96. So after three months if you keep the package (You have to CALL to cancel) your bill will now be a minimum of $109.96 per month.

After 12 months you will have to pay the regular price of $88 per month for the select package and $59.96 for HBO, Stars and Showtime. A total of $147.96.

The GREAT deal starts at $50 a month and ends up being $147.96 per month. Oh and lets not forget boxes for each room, and if I recall they used to charge a fee to get content in "HD". Not sure if they still do this. Too much fine print for me to go over now.

I think I'll pass.

Glad to see that I was not the only one last night who was experiencing an outage on the ATV app. iOS app worked fine for me though. Guess this is what we'll have to deal with since it's still a new service.

Goods news is that my ATV4 should be delivered today!

I had all the same issues on launch day. I can honestly say since launch day I have had 0 issues. I am using my Appletv 4 that I had since launch, hooked up the free one to another tv and no issues using both at the same time. I am on time warner spectrum with 200 mgs down. So far we love it. I just need to get an over the air antenna for locals, we only get fox here. By March I will be giving spectrum the big fu on the tv service.

Started my service this week and got my free TV set up last night. So far I have only ever used the service on two devices...an iPad and this new TV. Has worked flawlessly so far on the iPad, though I find scrolling through the guide a little laggy. The TV picture comes up faster, but last night it gave me an over two stream error 60 message. They need to resolve this bug. How can I be over my allotment if I literally have only used it on two devices?

Other than that, so far so good. I am sure I will discover other things that bug me later, but for now I'm happy enough. I wish I could get some smaller local channels that aren't available that I watch news on, but I guess I will have to learn to live without them or use a website to view their live feed. Clunky, but a whole lot cheaper than cable and cheap I guess comes with a price of it's own.
