I've been an AT&T wireless customer since long before they bought Cingular. So far no beta test email.

How long have you been subscribing to DTN??

I signed up for Direct TV now on day one, got an invite to beta the DVR service a while back and yesterday got another invite. Didn't sign up for either one, don't have time for TV much through the end of the year.

I signed up on the day after they launched.

I also received and responded to that somewhat lengthy survey they sent out.

I've had both beta invites, but haven't accepted because it requires setting up another AT&T account ID to participate.

I would have, if it had used the same credentials, but it's not worth it to me to set up yet another account ID, when I try to keep my online exposure to the essential minimum. They're a pain to keep track of, and most of these corporations have little regard for securing their customers' info.

They finally added NBC live in Detroit. I think I have everything live now. Trying to figure out a few logins that I can't get to work; Comedy Central and Spike. Not that big a deal. I just wish we had single sign on. I've spent the last 20 minutes logging in to each app on my family room ATV 4K and now I will have to go do the same on my master bedroom ATV 4K and eventually I need to do it on my 4th Gen ATV's for my guest room and my basement. There has to be a better way...

On a positive note, my family seems to be adapting to "cutting the cord." The wife and I usually go directly do the network apps or Netflix. The kids are finding lots of good stuff on Netflix and Nick Jr.

My final obstacle is the 1 TB limit I have with Xfinity. With 4 kids playing on iPads intermittently, the wife and I on our devices and the 2 main TV's, I'm pushing that 1TB every month.

For me when I try to sign up I only get a choice of Android and Chrome. Is anyone getting it on :apple:TV and iOS?

I gave DirectTV a try at launch and man did I not like it. I wound up moving to Vue, which is pretty great on Apple TV, but not without it's frustrations. Anytime any of these services improve it's good though. And since we can move back and forth between them we all win.

Those are the only choices I received as well. I would’ve signed up if iOS / Apple TV was an option.

I’m guessing they separating the beta invites into certain categories and possibly pushing platforms that haven’t had as much users. Roku wasn’t even an option, so maybe they are looking for me results from Android & Chrome.

So are/did some have a choice of :apple:TV and/or iOS and/or Safari?

I have mine on Apple TV and iOS.

If I remember correctly when I filled out the invite survey it asked me to select all of the platforms I might use. Do you recall doing that and perhaps not selecting the Apple TV?

I’m writing this from memory from a few months ago now so I could be wrong on how it went.

I think perhaps on the first beta invites, they offered Apple TV / IOS. I’m guessing now, they need more results & testing on the other platforms, so those are the only ones that are offered.

Is anyone else experiencing the tvos bug where the blue selector disappears when browsing the guide? It typically happens when I’m swipe up and down on the guide and it transitions to a new page of channels. If you continue to swipe up/dn, the app still makes the noise but you can’t tell what channel you’ve selected.

The only fix I’ve found is to go to search and select a channel I’ve searched for in the past and then hit guide again.

Any permanent fixes? I’ve tried reinstalling the app already.

Yes, the guide is bug infested.

The focus ring disappears, the guide data sometimes fails to load if you scroll too far ahead in time, scrolling back doesn't scroll the grid, but puts you into the channel selection column, etc.

At least the last update made it usable again in terms of speed.

Between the bugs and the Apple remote, it's a barrel of laughs and excellent UX.

Holy moley.

Today's update brings major improvement to the guide.

First impression -- it hasn't been this fast since the service first began.

Will have to see if the other bugs remain.

Worth the update if you don't have auto-downloads enabled.

Love Directv Now content, but the software still sucks big time.

I was asked to do beta testing, but if the regular software is buggy and sucks, I could not imagine how bad the beta stuff must be. No thanks.

What was the improvement? Either mine hasn’t updated or I just don’t see the update to the guide

Speed and smoothness.

It's now possible to scroll the guide from top to bottom again without fits, lurches, and having to close and reopen it when it stalls.

Before, it would act like a stalled webpage that stopped loading because of a lost connection, and no cache to fall back on.
