Noticed the same thing.

Anyone but me disappointed that 5.1 audio is only for "certain" VOD feeds? Guess that's not a big deal if comparing to PS Vue as it 2-channel but coming from U-Verse which is mostly 5.1 audio, stereo audio is pretty unacceptable, particularly if I were paying the $50-60/mo tier.

I dunno. At this point I would rather have them just work the bugs out and get all channels playing correctly and consistently. Then move to offering DD on a channel by channel basis.

We are beta testers right now. I think that has a lot to do with the Apple TV giveaway. No way can I make this my primary source of TV just yet...but close.

Haven't been able to watch a single show without some sort of glitch. Designated Survivor refused to play more than 30 seconds of episode 3. No amount of rebooting/logging out/in could make it work.

Extremely unimpressed.

I'll concur with that.

I can't count the number of times my finger would inadvertently barely swipe across part of the remote and the channel would change. Arggg!!
Now I agree with a lot of people in this forum, the remote control is awful and no practical at all for a set-box tv.

It keeps dumping my favorited channels (deselecting them) and on some channels it will say a show is playing but when you select the channel..."The Program is Unavailable"

Day 4 has been very good. There are really two things from holding me back from completely dumping satellite. NBC needs to be available live and no channel freezing.

The VERY positive:
  • PQ on par and maybe a hair better than sat!
  • Channel switching faster than sat.
  • Great channel selection for the (introductory) price.
  • ABC very generous with apps (ABC/Disney/ESPNFreeform), expanding channel selection. (All ESPN channels available through app)
  • HBO very cheap HBO Go makes just about all other HBO channels unnecessary. (over 1000 movies in app)
  • Starz also available for $9 via app which makes HBO and Starz together less than HBO via sat alone
The negatives:
  • Consistent channel freezing during prime time. NEEDS TO BE SOLVED!
  • NBC needs to be available on TV! This was advertised and if not solved is bait and switch.
  • CBS should be pursued but is still available via app.
  • NFL Network needs to be added.
  • All RSN's need to be made available.
  • No DVR - not a must have for me. Enough time shifting available if more apps available.

On the On Demand catalog, is it the full back catalog (for example, all the episodes of Mr. Robot) , or just the most recent few episodes?

If you subscribe to HBO, do you have access to the back catalog via ON Demand?

I hardly ever watch any TV live anymore - just trying to decide if the On Demand would work for me.

It keeps removing my favorites and everything on my watch list. Not sure why.

Did anyone else get absolutely no confirmation of their order from DTVNow? I subscribed on Thursday for the 3 month deal including an AppleTV. I didn't get any email confirmation of my order. My card did get charged and my service works, but I'm concerned that I have no confirmation of getting the AppleTV deal.

Still having streaming issues. Regardless of what channel I have it on, it freezes every few mins. After that I get a screen saying channel not available try again later. As a comparison I have had the same channel streaming on my other tv on Vue service. No issues with Vue. So I know it isn't my internet connection. Seems like it is the Apple TV Directvnow app.

As an aside also, last night I tried streaming both the same channel on my iPad and on the Apple TV Directvnow now app. And my iPad had no issues. But the Apple TV had nothing but issues the whole night. If this keeps up the next few days, I will test Directvnow on my firestick to see if there is an improvement using the fire stick on my tv.

Tried to watch basketball tonight on CSN Bay Area and it said the program is not available on DirecTV Now? The channel is but they restrict content?

Not liking that...

EDIT: Ah, available on TNT instead.

OK, same thing tonight but not available on another channel.

"Sorry, this program is not available in this area through DirecTV NOW."

May not be worth it if they restrict sports content like that.

I did the 3 Month Prepay, mostly to get the Gen. 4 Apple TV (I already have one but for the price its worth getting another) and the "Go Big" package for $35.00.

I was unaware that the $35.00 is a lifetime price, however, I did a chat with two different agents on the DirecTV NOW help page and they both confirmed to me that the promo price of $35.00 is lifetime, and you better believe I had those chats emailed to me. I originally thought the promo price was for the first three months, but I will take $35.00. If I like the service, and so far I do for the most part, I am chopping the cable part of my Time Warner account and just keeping the Time Warner internet and I will be saving A LOT of money!!!

Also, can we use our log-in credentials for Apple TV apps or no? Will not really effect me much because even if you just get internet through Time Warner you still get log-in credentials, but it would be nice for apps that do not take Time Warner! I searched on DirecTV NOWs help site for a list of apps that take their log-in, but could not find a list. Someone earlier in the thread claimed it did. If anyone could help me out with that, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hmm..thats lame. I prefer CSN Bay Area's broadcast team over TNT. With PS Vue I can watch either, although sometimes when the Warriors should be on ESPN its blacked out and has to be watched on CSN Bay Area. I assumed CSN Bay Area took precedence for all local sports broadcasts.

I mainly wanted the package to watch Giants games but if they block the actual games it may not be worth it, since you have to add something else to watch the games.

Yes, DIRECTV NOW subscribers can use their account username and password to access the following network websites and their respective apps:

Note: Subscribers should select DIRECTV NOW from the list of providers and authenticate by using DIRECTV NOW account credentials.

So for now it's basically HBO/Cinemax (same company) and Disney owned channels. Hopefully the rest are in the works.

My condo building subscribes to basic DirecTV, so I was able to drop all of my premium packages and extra equipment charges and still keep the basic account that I can use for logging in to Comedy Central, A&E, History, etc.

Now I'm left wondering if once single sign on happens, will I be able to continue to authenticate with 2 different providers?

Same here.

The only positive is the free ATV that I have yet to receive.

In 90 days, I can decide to remain or exit (Direxit).

Another point as to locals. Cable internet subscribers will most likely have your locals in the clear. Plug your cable directly into the TV and use the TV tuner for locals. It's an inconvenience to change inputs but a workaround if necessary.

The not working ABC and NBC false advertising really annoys me.

Don't get 7 days free, get 30 days free trial. Promo code will be on payment screen:

I tried this for 30 days free with cricket promo code CRICKET1MONTH (all Caps) on firestick. Hint: press top of circle on firestick remote for guide.

Then I decided to get free ATV with 3 months promo.
I remembered Netflix bugs at launch so I have patience for the issues mentioned.

Try an HD antenna for locals. I was about to cut the cord in the new year but $35 is not bad. If you must have dvr and have dish get the $19 welcome plan for locals and dvr.

We will not know for sure until SSO i released out of BETA. But from what I have seen you can disable some channels from SSO. That makes me guess that maybe if you disable them SSO will not work and then you could register the old way but it may mean if you try to register it will simply reactivate with SSO. So I am leaning towards NO but maybe.

Episode availability currently has no rhyme or reason. For "Mr. Robot", I currently see episodes 1-3 and 8-12 of season 2 only. Of "The Walking Dead", it currently shows only a single episode (S7 E1). Very strange. I hope it's just growing pains, but I don't think you can count on full back catalog availability at this point.

Yes, because you can use the HBO Go app with the DirectvNow credentials.

Same for me. I think for On Demand Hulu is far better at this point (also because it has a commercial-free option). But I do enjoy having access to live news and some channels that don't support Hulu.

Same here. But you can verify that you got in on the Apple TV (or Fire Stick) deal: Go to Acccount/Payment History on the web page, and expand the initial one-time charge. It should show the promo offer device.

I hear it doesn't pause and resume live tv. It pauses but then goes right back to whatever is live at that moment. Channels App figured out how to buffer live tv.... DIRECTV should be able also.

Well I was already leaning towards getting a new Apple TV to replace my very old ATV3 so I figured I can save $50 on it and sign up for DTVN to test it out for a few months prior to actually cutting the cable cord. If it all works out, great. If not, I saved $50 on an ATV4. You know you have to give them a little time to get things right and hopefully they listen to early adopters re: feature adds & bug fixes. But the $35 promo was just too good to pass up.

DVR is definitely something they need to add sooner than later because their VOD is way behind. Some shows are weeks behind. And the apps you can use to sign into with a DTVN account are limited. While casting to Chromecast (in the meantime) via my android tablet is easy and quite seamless, how are you going to build the iOS app w/o Chromecast support??? Huge oversight IMO.

But the big plusses for me as a NYC resident: YES Network and local access to ABC/NBC/FOX

I also did a little cost grid and my monthly savings is about $20. The kicker is the higher cost of internet when you unbundle it from the cable package. Ugh.

EDIT: I tried the Restart and Rewind features but both are available on things nobody cares to rewind or restart. Also, I tired to Chromecast NBC but it's not allowed. Very weird. Mirror to ATV from iPhone works though.

Worse. They have random episodes. I haven't seen a show, other than Westworld, with episodes from the past 3-4 weeks. Vue's On-Demand library knocks it out of the park.

The lack of any reason to on demand episodes across the board is ridiculous. Some shows have one episionde from one season, not even the first season or the most recent season.
