Who is maintaining the streaming service? DirecTV or NFL? I would like to see them use the MLB-AM infrastructure, albeit at a higher quality stream than MLB and WWE use.

Isn't this the last season for DTV and Sunday Ticket? I wonder if they will get the contract renewed?

Yeah, you know I wonder if the NFL said offer as a standalone, we’ll extend your contract, otherwise, we’re going to go direct and/or allow it to be offered through multiple providers.

Like I said above, I’d like to see this model for other premium services like HBO. Let providers sell the service, let them compete on price, packages, customer service, but let me buy HBO independent of a cable/sat subscription.

So much money just to have it crash half of the time.

Also, I can't wait for Comcast/ATT and others to do the same they did to Netflix, "Ohhhh, you want to stream NFL games, well, we have to charge you more"

To each his own, I suppose, but I wouldn't pay $59 for Sunday Ticket. Now, if MLB would give me in market games as well as out of market for $130 a year I'd jump all over it. In market baseball is the only reason I still have satellite right now.

Cable TV - dead man walking.

Cut the cord 2 years ago.
MLB TV
Acorn TV
PBS
iTunes
Amazon Instant

Lots of choices.

It's usually around $300 for US DirecTV subscribers.

Right but I could get the games on my iPad too.

It is nice for people who do not have cable but to me it is still unnecessarily expensive. I feel the same way about the price paid every year. So far I've managed to get it for free the first year and $50 the second year but I doubt I'll see that discount this coming season.

What exactly is a "blacked out game" anyway when you are paying to see all of them?

When you live in a team's market and the game is not sold out on time, it is "blacked out" and not shown on local TV.

It's borderline criminal.

This is great news for me. I'll be signing up.

I'm sure they will not enable airplay but what they should do is just add the appleTV to the console pricing

but if you're doing it to a mac, you can airplay the entire display to an :apple:TV, regardless of whether the particular app supports it.

Apparently you CANNOT get the Standalone if you are able to get DirecTV at your current address. Absolute nonsense! I was excited for a moment but once again DirecTV finds a way to stick it to me. If anyone finds out a way around it please share it with us.

I was waiting for something like this to get announced this year. Last year, I had the access via the NFL Madden football game (sold the game on eBay, kept the Sunday ticket promotion). Years prior, I always got it for about 50-75% off list price via DirecTV.

So I typed my address in and it said I'm ineligible to receive the package.

WTF?

Not true, I have had standalone for 3 years via PC, yet can get DTV where I live and dont have DTV. I have Uverse. Just sign up, they dont send the DirecTV police to your house to check. I am sure when it is close, the season that is, it will be fine like years past for me and others.
