So I typed my address in and it said I'm ineligible to receive the package.

WTF?

Apparently you CANNOT get the Standalone if you are able to get DirecTV at your current address. Absolute nonsense! I was excited for a moment but once again DirecTV finds a way to stick it to me. If anyone finds out a way around it please share it with us.

Technically this is still a rumor and has not been confirmed by DTV so I would imagine current rules still apply if you're trying to get it.

I think you're jumping the gun. Right now their policy is as you state. But I think the article says they found a promotion page that isn't intended to be public yet.

Thats because you probably didnt catch the proper link in the 1st post, thats for the tv package, you want to try nflsundayticket.tv, like it says in the first post in capital letters.

Not true, I have had standalone for 3 years via PC, yet can get DTV where I live and dont have DTV. I have Uverse. Just sign up, they dont send the DirecTV police to your house to check.

Apparently there is some kind of restrictions in place (that sound very arbitrary), from DTV:

I received an error message that says I am unable to purchase NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV. What does that mean?

First, please verify that your personal information is correct. If you still receive an error message, you may not be eligible to purchase. NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV. Currently, the service is available only to people who live in select areas or residence types, or are enrolled in select universities. For more information about the NFL SUNDAY TICKET DIRECTV satellite TV package, please visit directv.com/nfl.

NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV is an app that gives you access to live, out-of-market NFL games every Sunday—without the need for a DIRECTV satellite TV account. You can stream games on your computer, tablet, phone, or game console, depending on the package you choose. The 2014 app will be available to download on August 30, 2014, and streaming will begin September 7, 2014. Eligibility is based on your area, residence type, or enrollment in select universities. For more information, please visit NFLSUNDAYTICKET.TV.

They’re probably still working out some of the potential issues, bandwidth concerns, etc. I imagine this will change over the next couple of months.

Limited availability

Don't get too excited. I have some insider information on this. This isn't available to everyone. It is only available in 6 major cities:
NY
SF
Philly
Seattle
Miami
Atlanta

10 major universities

and Multi Dwelling Units (Apartment buildings)

Outside of college students you need to be in a market that can't get DIRECTV and need to prove it by your zip code. Students will be verified via the registrar's office and an EDU email address won't be enough.

Is that not a lot of money for a sports subscription?

That's what I was wondering.

Is this monthly or yearly? Either way it seems like a lot to me, then again I couldn't care less about sports so fans might (obviously) see a lot more value.

Well... This is great news except for the price. I don't know if I want to watch the Lions *that* much.

Last year, I bought some deluxe version of a video game for $100 that included NFL Sunday Ticket for about $100... I think it was equivalent to the $200 package this year?

I'll have to think hard about spending $200 on this.

So with Apple TV ruled out.... can I order the computer version and mirror my macbook pro???

Okay cool, but from first hand experience for 3 years prior with this service, it means nothing. All those stipulations apply to me and my household, yet every year i was able to get the Online package portion of the NFL without DTV service. Trust, it will be fine for kickoff week 1:D

They did this on Playstation last year. This, while nice, is nothing new. No idea why the title of this article calls it a "first".

Still seems too expensive

it's cheaper than going to the bars every Sunday to catch your favorite teams. For example, I'm from Texas and my wife is from Wisconsin. We both live in Denver and neither one of us are Broncos fans. Sunday Ticket allows us both to watch every Packer and Cowboy game every Sunday. $200 for this package is far cheaper than heading to the local bar (by the time you add in a few drinks and an appetizer to not piss off the local bar keep).

YMMV.. but my wife and I love having Sunday Ticket. I've had it every year since moving to Colorado (2008) but never paid full price for it :)

Seriously, get a web proxy outside the US. The NFL sells the same thing for less money, just not inside the US. You can bounce all your web traffic through the proxy, sign up for the service then bounce web traffic through the proxy on game day. I know a guy *cough* that does that and it works great.

Here is an article explaining everything you need: http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/...roxy-server-online-video-outside-us/11031959/

Becuase it is the "first" time you have a specific package available for online only viewing, previously one would have to pay around $329 to access this package which also meant you'd be paying for a TV sub you didnt have. This cuts that other nonsense out, so yeah its a "first"

not necessarily. the PS3 access you could do without a DTV supscription as well as last years Madden NFL 25 video game inclusion. But yes, this year, this is the first to be all online viewing without buying a video game or having a console.

Airplay?

For folks who used this last year, were you able to Airplay from iOS and/or Mac devices?

yes. I airplayed every game from either my iMac or my iPad Mini last year (using Safari on my iMac or the DirecTV Sunday Ticket App on my iPad). I preferred using my iMac, it streamed better IMO (probably because of more horsepower)

So how exactly do you go about signing up for this since I can't get past the initial Choose Your Package screen once it says I am not eligible? Thanks for at least letting us know that it is somehow possible just not through the page provided in the story.

Still doesn't beat NFL RedZone!
