Nothing is FREE from AAPL,ever. Any software is paid for with the hardware it came with, if not paid for itself.
Well some Hackintosh users may disagree with you since they have access to the MAS as well. BTW, I'm certainly not a Hackintosh person. I won't stoop that low. If I can't afford a Mac I won't use OS X at all. Just sayin'.

It doesn't mean Apple should provide the download link forever. I think it's enough if done for warranty period.

I bought my 11" MBA in December of 2013 shipping with ML installed, as a matter of deliberate choice and currently still use ML on a partition (if I need to explain why, you don't need to know..). I fully expect the OS I purchased to still be supported for re-download within 2 years and within the 5 years of product support Apple gives any one product. Especially as they refuse to include a physical copy.

So I do not see your point here?

My two favorite things on this forum are premature fanboy outcries and the rose gold masculinity defenders.

I am sure by 3pm today there will be a new giggle to add to the bunch.

HAHAHAHAHA, someone actually said rose gold is masculine?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Where does it end??

We need a new word: mascinine = both masculine & feminine

Or femculine = bothe feminine & masculine.

How do we choose???

Am I a so-called "bigot" for choosing one over the other?

(Boy, am I going to get it now for saying this here)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

This has already been touched on in the thread, but currently not all discontinued iOS apps appear in purchased, nor can they be recovered via iCloud.

Furtunately, for iOS apps you can back them up in iTunes. However, this is getting a bit harder. Due to the introduction of app thinning, iTuns no longer transfers newly purchased apps or updated apps from an iOS 9 device to a PC, so if you are not vigilant you will miss out on app backups. Also, who's to say Apple won't even discontinue syncing apps from PC to iOS device? Then we'll be in hot water.

What about the forthcoming Apple TV?

Funny, the same applies to your post. Do you know what happened here? They could have had an issue you know...
I think apple is forcing everyone to stay up to date by going forward with OSX instead of backwards like they do with IOS. Once you download IOS, you can't go backwards unless you manually install it.

Well, versions CS6 and earlier will all break completely (if they still run currently) in the next version of OS X, due to El Capitan being the last to support Java SE 6.

Why Adobe waited until CC to drop the Java 6 dependency is a mystery to me.

I'm still able to run Photoshop CS3 without Java 6 installed. I'm not a power user, but I haven't found any problems other than I can't launch it directly because it claims to want Java 6. I just use an Automator script to launch the app directly via the shell. If anyone knows what breaks without Java 6 installed, I'd like to hear.

You distance yourself so far from the Mac community that you have an account on an Apple forum that you have just used to tell us that you distance yourself from the Mac community.

I hear there are plenty of good Windows forums out there.

I know, right? All he does is complain anyways. I don't get people who don't like Apple even come on here. They must be miserable.

Don't forget the people who claim their TSMC chip gets slightly hotter than Samsung and now Samsung is a new found darling. LOL

True, this is getting good.

I have never seen (This may happen on other tech forums) more OCD individuals than the "Screen" issue ones on here who return 5 iPhones, create things in their mind they can't unsee on a bright white screen they'll never use, and then POST PICTURES of it showing "us" how crazy we are for not noticing something we don't notice in their own photos.

enough people screamed loud enough so that Apple had to undo it.

Yeah. We said we would start getting apple software from torrents. And anything we download from apple would then be UPLOADED somewhere else on the net in case apple pull it.

This would threaten apple's control of their distribution model.

I think that scared apple to change their mind and put the stuff back.

Just a general statement, not necessarily referring to the person you replied to:

It's one thing to voice your concerns. But there are numerous people on these forums that only pop up in threads to complain about things and talk about how much better competing products are, all while never saying a single positive thing about any Apple product while bashing those that do.

I mean, it's not a stretch to assume that someone who doesn't like anything Apple does should consider finding other products that suit their needs better... then contribute positively to another forum instead of miserably pouting on this one.

I love discussing ways that Apple can do things better. I really don't like attempting to do that with people who think Apple doesn't do anything right to begin with.

User-hostile?

Please.

5GB of free iCloud storage is user-hostile.

Maybe some day you're grow up and realize that not everybody is like you. In the meantime, try not to embarrass yourself too much.

This was a user-hostile decision *to me*. 5GB of free iCloud is a non-issue *for me*. I don't use iCloud, and I don't intend to use iCloud.

But then even for iCloud users, just pay for it. 200 meg is cheaper per month than a cup of coffee for most of us. If you care enough about the service to cry about the low free amount, take a paid tier. Maybe ask your parents to raise your allowance?. A whole 75 cents a week really isn't all that much for a service you seem to like.

Not having access to software you paid for and rely on is a major issue. And download from "reliable" file shares. The recent Xcode fiasco should make it pretty clear why that's a bad solution. And if i'm required to get software I paid for from file sharing anyway with all the inherent risks, why should I bother paying for it at all?

That really is funny. Not giving you something for free that costs them money is user hostile. Taking away functionality you paid for is not user hostile. Grow up.

I agree with previous posters, this was very troubling situation. While I wasn't personally affected because of backups I was previously sceptical about purchasing software from App Store because it has way too many limitations and this problem was the last straw for me. In the future I will purchase all software I use directly from developers.

I hope Apple removes App Stores limitations but I am not very optimistic because it seems Apple is currently run by bean counters...

On my App Store updates is iPhoto 9.6.1 (with a released ate of march 19, 2015) and it won't go away. I'm running El Capitain Beta (and use Photos, of course) and when I select the "Update" button I get "This item is temporarily unavailable. Try again later." The iPhoto update is not on my "Purchased" tab so I don't know how/why I'm receiving this update alert.

I'm happy to report that the older Logic Pro (9) has now returned to my purchased tab.

Almost as arrogant as expecting perpetually hosted legacy software that you likely didn't buy anyway. GIMME GIMME GIMME, right?

How about my 10-year old daughters who are using a hand-me-down MacBook that I likely won't update for a long time that can only run Lion? I'd say it's a ridiculous move by Apple to be honest. What's the harm in leaving the software available for these situations. It's not like Apple's continuing to print boxes and burn CD's that sit collecting dust in some warehouse.

You can add to that that these people have no idea what is involved in manufacturing, sourcing 50 million components etc. or running a multi billion dollar business.

Apple is a very good company, not perfect and many times unfairly treated because they are victims of their own success. Can they keep hitting homeruns, I don't think so.

All the markets are populated with players, but they will always be able to come into these markets with the better mouse trap. Just don't try to do services. They suck at that big time.

To rip things down is humans favorite pastime.
They do it with film and rock stars, music etc.

Build them up , rip them down.

I would say 16 GB is perfect for a business person who use the phone for what it was ment to .... work.... that means Emails Phonecalls and some internet
Yup--the companies that my family and friends work for give their employees 16 GB iPhones. Some employees need more storage so they use their own phones, but the provided ones are cheaper for the companies and the majority of employees (according to my family and friends in IT) don't have their phones even half filled.
