not really. some of us saved for it and sacrificed other stuff for it. it really is an amazing device and I don't regret buying it but it was a big chunk of change

I guess the question is .. what number would have been too much for you?

Would you have done $4k?
$4.5k? and so on.

The other variable that's hard to account for is hindsight.
I think most folks probably assumed it'd be more capable and more supported on the software side this far into its life.

I recognize you love yours -- I just mean the broader overall opinion (even from developers) is more along the lines of "Apple, why aren't YOU supporting this thing a lot more".

That's because no sane AVP user would want to trade it in, even for a newer one. In 20 years they will sell it for x1000 the MSRP in an auction.
Haha awww that’s so mighty foreseeing of Apple. They wouldnt want to take all that value away from their customers.

Funny though that they expect selling a device for thousands of dollars now that is blindingly obvious it does not have a resale value.

Maybe they should just put a box outside the office with a sign, ”Deposit your cash here”. AVP users might as well do it.

It's weird that I can spend $500 on a Quest 3 and have way, WAY more fun with that than is possible with the $3500 AVP because Apple doesn't seem to care to support VR gaming on it and there are no controllers.

I swear; Apple could have sold a lot more of these things had they made them more VR-focused, with controllers and supported SteamVR. People like to spend crazy amounts of money on VR stuff and Apple ignored that market.

Apple should set up a Venmo style donation box. When they have bad quarters, all of us can pitch in.

There is like 3 articles on the homepage about it supporting the PSVR controllers

Unlike other Apple devices, the original Vision Pro with the M2 chip is not available for trade-in.

The original Vision Pro with the M2 chip launched in February 2024 and was discontinued upon the announcement of a new version with the M5 chip earlier today. Most high-end Apple devices, such as the Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and Mac, become available for trade-in upon the release of a new model, allowing users to fund the purchase of the latest device while getting rid of their old one.

The absence of the Vision Pro from Apple's trade-in program is therefore peculiar, but likely reflects an unwillingness on the behalf of trade-in partners to accept it for now. Users of the original Vision Pro who want to upgrade to the new M5 version will need to sell their old device independently.

Oh my god. We will loose the 150 dollars they would give us for the device. 😿

No they couldn’t because of the price point it’s easy to upsell a $1000 dollar phone to someone but a headset over $1,500 is a different story altogether
This is Tim cook’s leadership all over wait to see what the competition does & if it shows any bit of success then implement it & sell it for a higher price & let’s see the people buy it in masses
