If I could legally buy everything on Disk from these folks, I would. I want to own all of Stranger things, and so on. But since I can't, and they won't pay the damn writers what they should be paid (not to mention the actors), the pirate boats set sale again. (VPN's installed of course). I'm currently paying for Netflix, parent's are paying for Hulu add free, and I'm paying for paramount and Amazon and somebody is paying for HBO. (Girlfriend I think?) As soon as billions ends in October, I'm canceling everything but Prime (which is bundled with shipping and I use it all the time).

“The cost of the ad-supported versions of Disney+ and Hulu won’t change in the U.S., Iger said. “Maintaining access to our content for as broad an audience as possible is top of mind for us”

In other words premium customers are not as “top of mind” as non-premium customers. I have had Hulu with no ads, but will cancel in a day or two. See ya, Disney….

See also your local public library. Mine has DVDs of many things (but of course, not all.) Good prices there too.

It's gonna get tough for the streaming services in a year when there is a gap in programming due to the strike. I'm guessing they will double down on foreign produced content and reality TV which will be interesting. I wonder if anyone will try to make a show set in the US but actually filmed in Spain with foreign actors using American accents. That would be fascinating to see.

Not shocked, blame the strikes they have nothing in production to make money instead they decide to raise the price and have fewer movies/TV shows new or old added to library. Streaming inflation is happening and makes me wish Blockbuster were still around.

Streaming services really do have a tendency to forget that their entire business model relies on them being slightly less annoying than going with the $0-per-month Jack Sparrow bundle, huh? 🏴‍☠️
What's annoying about the "Jack Sparrow bundle"? What I find annoying is the constantly changing catalog, and the combing through more and more services to find what I need. They are already way more annoying than the $0 plan.

Once you’ve watched the few good films on Disney+, it’s just a load of rubbish.

I feel the same for HBO ( sorry MAX) and Netflix as well

That's true.... but it was the same sorta thing for cable.

You'd pay $100/month for 500 channels... most of which you will NEVER watch. But you were forced to pay for all those rubbish channels every month. And you also had to rent a crappy DVR box from the cable company too. And have one for every TV in your home.

At least with streaming services you can dip in for a month or two then cancel and try something else. And no equipment rentals. And you can watch on any device. But people are still finding problems with streaming.

Basically... cable sucked... and streaming is starting to suck too.

So perhaps people need to find a new hobby!

:p

No. They’re just copying Netflix to unlock those delicious profits.
No, they are trying to make up for their horrible business practices the past 10 years.

They dropped billions to gobble up companies (George Lucas couldn’t be happier) and their parks are hurting, so they are going to try to make it up here.

COVID did its thing to the parks and they started jacking the prices up to make up for it. Well guess what? Attendance is down.

They thought they could churn out movies and shows, slap the Star Wars name on it and people would blindly pay to see it, no matter how bad it was. I feel they are also starting to do this with Marvel as there is a never-ending line of content coming out and I, for one, am losing interest.

I hope that consumers start voting more and more with their pocket books. Give us quality products and services and we will be happy to pay a fair price. Keep throwing drivel out and gouging us and we’re gonna spend our money elsewhere.

Transaction fees have gone up so much that we have merchants now charging fees to use credit cards, and they still claim to be losing money.
I own a small business and had a choice to make at the first of the year; Raise prices yet again or start passing on merchant fees for those who wanted the convenience. Not one customer has balked, they either pay the extra or send a check.
