Will join up to watch The Mandalorian then I’m out.
I own the Star Wars and Marvel movies on blu ray so I can’t see the point of me staying subscribed.

Mind you living in the EU we don’t even have a launch date.

In this modern age of television, I just think the whole concept of "water cooler" talk is non existent. Everything is splintered and no one at work, the offices I've worked in, ever talks about TV Shows or movies they watch and I certainly never talk about stuff I watch with my friends out side of work. Everyone has different interests. Only people who care about being spoiled or having conversations are people who waste their time on the internet and actually look for spoilers. Which isn't as large a group of people as folks like to think.

Agree. Netflix is spending over $15 BILLION a YEAR on original content, anyone who claims they don't have a lot of original content are a fool or being intentionally ignorant.
why are there so many voice over english shows now on netflix. seems like not much left is a normal movie all pulled from different countries.

I’m keeping Netflix at $8.99/mo for a while to watch international movies (French, Spanish mostly), documentaries, and stuff like Versailles, The Tudors, House of Cards, a few other shows.

My Amazon Prime is “free” since I save that money a few times over every year in shipping and getting coke from Bezos (I mean deals and included services), anyway. Let’s face it, the poor guy is hurting after his divorce, but I reckon Lauren must be somehow worth it (to him, I guess).

Disney+ gets my attention with National Geographic, the complete Simpsons, Fox and ABC catalogs, Star Wars and classic cartoons. My escape needs have not included Marvel yet, but I’ll try to see what the inexplicable fuss is all about. Probably not much...

$6.99/mo is less than one session of hot brown water and pack of madeleines pimped by your cute barely-legal local barista, moronic corporate fake smile included

USA is not the center of the world :) There are lots of good movies not in english language.. good story line and entertaining plots.. for me Asian horrors are the best out there.

I guess if you love super heroes or have kids this is great for you. I don't have either so no go for me. Disney has nothing I need or want. I'm sure a lot of people will eat this up though. Funny how everyone wanted to "cut the cord" yet here we are, back to the same price of cable, if not MORE than what it cost if we just stuck with cable to begin with. This nickel and diming of subscriptions from every studio is getting insane.

Great, Disneys endless repackaging of the monomyth/hero’s journey, 1000x over and over, all in one place, when you just can’t get enough of the same story format, forever.

But I guess, just think of the children, all those kids we haven’t driven it into yet...

But you can't watch Jennifer Aniston earn $25,000/minute

Checkmate Disney

They would have to pay me $25,000/minute to watch that crap. What an overrated piece of **** that show is...

Not that I’m enamored with Disney’s offerings.

That’s a great starting price, I only wonder how long it’ll be kept for before it rises?
Disney doesn't give stuff away, this is a starting promo price and once they make inroads into Netflix market share, the price will increase as it always does with competition these days. competition used to be good for the consumer, but when big corporations instead of competing just buys up the more competitive companies trying to keep the price down. with streaming we pay pretty much we did with cable, although now we need to jump in and out of apps to get the tv we want instead of all in one place. So I"m not sure it is better or cheaper in the long run.

End of next year, Netflix won’t have NBC content (Friends reruns is their top show) either. Netflix is a dump for “direct to video” content, and bad original series.

We have been watching a lot of Amazon, lately. My only beef with it is the UI presents content that isn’t included in my service, which really sucks balls.

Apple should take its $9 billion it is spending and create a dozen shows on the same caliber as Game of Thrones. I won’t pay for Carpool karaoke.

We need more streaming services!

Makes me feel better when I stream “for free” because I cannot find what I would like to watch even though I am already paying for 3 services.

Disney is cool and all but I think I want more content than Marvel and Star Wars. Cartoons and animated films will only get you by for so long...

I expect either Disney or Apple will eventually consider the purchase of Netflix to gain the upper hand on the other. I would also expect Apple to be the more likely contender, unless a dark horse called Amazon decides to strike.

This is true of all the current pay streaming services outside of possibly the big 4 premium movie channels. The financial news indicates that they are all losing money and you know that isn’t going to continue. Going to be interesting to see which ones are still here by the end of next year.

I’ve been doing all kinds of spreadsheets and such to see how to cut the cord and keep the shows I want to watch available and save money. So far the only way to cut the cost significantly is to rationalize away some shows.

Many people say, Disney will increase price after x amount of months etc etc. it’s not like we’ll sign a 40 year contract!
If they change pricing, you can easily cancel!
For 6.99 with lots of content, .4K etc is a good deal.

Netflix's vast catalog of mediocre, drawn-out, time wasting shows is looking less and less appealing. At this point all I really care about is Disney+ and HBO (quality over quantity).

ATV+ doesn't even register as something worth subscribing to... hopefully they bundle it with something more immediately appealing, like Arcade, News+, or Music.
Apple TV + should be, of course, free. But they wouldn't be calling it + if they didn't intend to rip off their customers for it.

The bold is a pointless, throwaway comment. This is not the point. The point is we need content owners to start providing video content at reasonable prices!
