"Apple TV+ will offer all of Apple's original TV shows and movies that are in development"
Maybe they can return The Avengers to their original format where The Hulk and Thor were not turned into Wimps.
Not a fan of Disney but the pricing will hopefully help drive down Apple prices.

The bold is a pointless, throwaway comment. This is not the point. The point is we need content owners to start providing video content at reasonable prices!

It is not pointless. Universally in this thread people seem to be saying that Disney is providing video content at a reasonable price. This person's point was if they raise the price in a bait and switch, people can cancel. That's the only way to drive price down. If you keep paying at the higher rate, you have fed the "unreasonable pricing" cycle. If you think something is too expensive, don't buy it.

In 10 years we are going to look back at how awesome it was when most everything was on one streaming service in Netflix. I will pay for two reasonable services - Netflix and probably Disney. CBS, NBC, HBO etc no way. Too many.

Or maybe a better idea is every service for one month a year. You catch up on everything and then switch. That’s probably a good software idea when a company allows you to just rotate through services.

Hopefully (more or less) the same time as the USA. :fingerscrossed:

We're often in the second (or third) wave with (limited) hardware releases.

On the other hand, we still cannot get Apple News, so who knows...

In New Zealand we can't even get Siri on the ATV4 even though we have it on every other available device (I say Available because HomePods are NOT available either)

This is why I have stopped buying into the Apple ecosystem, to make it less painful to leave.
As each Apple device dies it gets replaced by an alternative, I already have 1 Kodi box from China.

A friends ATV4 will no longer boot and I find Apple has removed the USB-C from them so the firmware can not be reloaded. STUPID STUPID STUPID.

People cut the cable TV cord, just to find new cords to wrap up in.

I am reading more books than I have for years. Real books, the paper ones, the ones I can buy and sell 2nd hand.
No adverts, no data, no internet, no tracking.

I won’t subscribe to Apple TV because they will only offer PC/PG rated shows, they lost me there. Disney+ will do very well offering kids shows as well adults something everyone can watch. Apple TV plus won’t do well I’m betting especially since only Apple users can watch it

I think it will give more headaches to Apple with their overpriced service with very little content
They said the same thing about cheap phones from China but they hurt Samsung and Google much more than Apple. Even though Apple is opening up their TV streaming service to other hardware makers, it will still find its audience primarily among those that have purchased Apple TV hardware.

I don't see how Apple could offer TV+ at a higher price than Disney+ and expect to be successful with it. For that matter, ATV+ would be the same cost as Amazon Prime, without killer shows like Bosch and The Expanse, the extensive Prime catalog, plus of course the other benefits of Prime. A combined ATV+/Apple Music sub for $9.99 might be enough to entice people on the fence about either.
I like some shows on Prime but their content is more of a loss leader. If they removed the prime shipping from their bundle, their audience would probably leave because that's the main reason they came and stayed in the first place.

Time will tell but as far as I can tell, the PG-rated rumors were false based on the latest show rundowns and trailers I've seen. They might not be full of gore and violence but they are very adult-themed. Also, Apple TV+ will stream on most Samsung, Sony, Vizio and LG TVs as well as Roku and Amazon Fire TV.

That will make it highly competitive with Netflix, which increased its base price to $9 earlier this year. Netflix also charges subscribers $13 for high definition streaming on two simultaneous streams, and $16 for 4K and four simultaneous streams.

Apple TV+ will offer all of Apple's original TV shows and movies that are in development, and Apple is spending upwards of $6 billion for content. Little is known about Apple TV+, but it will be available on all devices where the TV app is available when it launches.

Just based off of the rumors, the more I hear about Disney+ the more interested I am in it. On the other hand, the more I hear about Apple's service, I am pretty much indifferent towards the news.

When the rumors of Disney+ service first starting to appear, I wasn't interested at all, but based off of the rumors, Disney+ will offer a lot more than Netflix for less money.

Now, I have to talk my family into canceling Netflix.......

We (consumers) are getting screwed with the greed of these companies. If you want to watch, say, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Starwars, and whatever Amazon and Apple offers, you'll have to pay for 5 different services, that is a lot of money on an annual basis. Before, Netflix would have most studios' films and series, so you had to pay for only 1 service. Cutting the cable is not what it used to be.

why are there so many voice over english shows now on netflix. seems like not much left is a normal movie all pulled from different countries.

That to me sounds like a positive for Netflix, except the voiceover bit; just use subtitles. Voiceovers only work for animated shows or films. It looks ridiculous to voice over film, not to mention arrogant.

So many great European films in particular. And they’re always the ones that stick with me compared to Hollywood where it’s all for money; colour and movement for the masses to swallow up and not have to think too hard.

Hope so because I don’t a company pandering to one group of people. That’s what the rating system is for. Apple price will either need to come down or would have to bundle it with another service like Apple Music to be successful.

I don't think Apple bet their company on TV+. It's just one service. Netflix on the other hand..

I don't think Disney bet their business on this either but look at the compelling service they've brought to the table.
[doublepost=1566771159][/doublepost]Has it been said whether Disney+ will have non-Disney content like the other streaming services?

Honestly, who will be more successful entering the streaming business: The entertainment company with a century of experience or a 40-year-old computer company?

Apple would be better to partner with Disney and work together to make a dent into Netflix’s market share. Nothing Apple has previewed yet has piqued my interest.

Disney will win over the family households - it’s a lock for me for my young kids.

Will join up to watch The Mandalorian then I’m out.
I own the Star Wars and Marvel movies on blu ray so I can’t see the point of me staying subscribed.

Mind you living in the EU we don’t even have a launch date.

You own all the Marvel movies on blu ray, but aren’t interested in the litany of Marvel shows that will be exclusive to this service??

I’d pay $6.99 just for “What If?”!!!!

I know many people are "cutting the cord," but yet have sooo many bills with Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, Amazon....the list goes on. The prices for all those services add up to being a bit less (maybe more)than traditional cable, plus with a very clunky not streamlined way to watch.

I expect either Disney or Apple will eventually consider the purchase of Netflix to gain the upper hand on the other. I would also expect Apple to be the more likely contender, unless a dark horse called Amazon decides to strike.

I am not quite sure what Netflix has to offer in an acquisition. I find a lot of its original content is of very low quality, and the reality is that it is losing a lot of older content anyways. In the event of it changing ownership, I am guessing all the streaming rights will need to be negotiated anyways. Plus its stock price is probably inflated from investor hype despite it still being a long way away from profitability.

If it’s talent or technology Apple wants, they are better off just poaching the talent directly. Apple is better off building up their video service from scratch, the same way they built up Apple Music (and look where it is today).

I think it is more likely that Netflix ends up acquiring Spotify and releasing a video + music streaming bundle to better differentiate itself from the competition.

Will be interesting to see if Apple prevents the Disney app from streaming 4K, just like Disney doesn't allow Apple to stream their movies in 4K on the ATV4K. Or perhaps, Apple won't even make the app available on the ATV.

I think it is still expensive. They keep killing all MCU super heroes, there will be nothing left soon. I rather go with ATV+.
