War? LMAO

Disney has a massive library of content.

Apple will have less than a dozen at launch.

If only Steve Jobs didn't sell Pixar to Disney

I'm talking out of my butt but I feel like if Steve was still around Disney+ would be Apple's streaming service (as a partnership)

uh oh, here we go. Begun, the streaming wars has.

Apple isn’t a global brand?

65% of Apple’s sales come from outside the US.

Your other points don’t matter in a purchase. If Apple buys Disney, the just leave management in place to run Parks and Resorts, as an example.

I own shares in both and Disney is the undisputed king of content. Apple has money to buy whatever they want, however.

What does owning shares have to do with anything? I own shares in both too, and I have worked in and with people from both those companies.

My points were why there would be no acquisition.

I have no bias to which company I like more is the point.

The fact you said Apple isn’t a global brand is why I responded.

I also emphasized that if you have money, you don’t need the industry knowledge to run Parks and Resorts because the management can be left in place.

Five years ago I never would have guessed Apple would be competing with Disney. At this point, it’s probably easier to say who isn’t Apple’s competition than who is.

Disney's not competition is even smaller, I think.

I think the free year and $4.99 are good enough incentives to draw a lot of people, but honestly Apple doesn't have the content for direct competition.

Disney is going to give Apple very tough competition, in fact I feel Apple would not be able to compete at all. It's just going to be a niche service that some Apple users subscribe too. Disney's repository of content is just way too large to be competed with.

It depends. Netflix was non-existing just a few years ago, especially outside the US. Apple already has brand name (arguablly much more valuable than Diseny, HBO or Netflix) and hundreds of millions of users worldwide. It is just a matter of creating a couple of blockbuster series to take off and create a large library of exclusive content. They are investing tons of money and if you have that kind of cash you can secure the best directors, producers and actors. There is a bit of luck involved afterall but again, with this pile of cash, everything seems possible. The problem here is to make this service profitable and at 4,99$ for family subscription, they would need hundred of millions of users before start making some real money. Basically, during the next couple of users, the iPhone would be financing Apple TV+.

Why did he wait until the launch? Not like the board wouldn’t know the pricing before the keynote.
The Board is probably holding meetings bi-mothly or less and focusing on financial matters, business projections, macroeconomic issues, strategic investments, etc. Obviously, the Board has information on new products and services, but little is put in paper and probably Tim just brief them on this matters rather than giving detailed information.

Disney branding is much stronger in families with children so they have already won.

Disney+ vs Apple+... That's not even a contest.

Actually, Apple+ vs Netflix or Apple+ versus Amazon Video are not even contests, either. Those services are deeply entrenched and have a lot of exclusive/own content (e.g. BOSCH or STRANGER THINGS) already that are platform sellers for the respective audiences. So far, Apple has not even really announced anything; they were just betting on their name and probably were hoping that the movie industry what just fall in line like the music industry did. But it seems the movie industry has different ideas...

Apple TV + will bomb, just like the HomePod, for the same reasons - way too late to market, and no disruptive value.
