I might be in the minority, but hole punch camera is more annoying than the notch. With a hole punch, there’s content around it, so it’s more noticeable.

I liked that concept from a couple years ago where the camera system was squished into the top bezel-

How about this: "Sports Analyst Concurs That Super Bowl LVI Likely to Feature Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs." That doesn't mean it's gonna happen either, right?

Also, according to this report under the glass tech is only coming to iPhone 14 Pro & Pro Max models, so there's no reason to hold off getting the basic iPhone 13 if the Pro's are not your thang.

That’s iPhone 15?

If we get a notch redesign for this year, even if it just becomes a bit smaller, no way will they redesign again for next year. I also have trouble seeing them adapting such a prominent design choice as the pimple from other brands.
This is what I was thinking too. I find it hard to believe that Apple would shrink the notch this year just to go to a hole punch next year. I feel like the notch will be around until they can hide everything behind the screen.

For me TouchID was awful. It barely worked, and I had different models. FaceID is much better, especially at the gym.

Also, FaceID allows for notifications to become readable without having to unlock your phone, something that would be impossible with TouchID.
How would it be impossible, you would literally just have your finger on the screen to show notifications.

1,000% agree. I can't see Apple committing such a criminal act since the notch is now an iconic symbol of the iPhone and the pinhole is a copy cat, lame and ugly.

I wonder if I’m in a tiny minority. I’m planning to swap my 12 Pro for a 13 mini as long as I don’t lose more than one of the cameras.

Small hands y’see. I’m willing to try the mini for a year and see if the lack of the Pro features and smaller screen size bothers me.
I love my 12 Mini. Great phone. So nice having a smaller phone in my pocket.

I'm glad the screen isn't so big, I'd rather use my Mac or iPad for long reading sessions. I love having a device that is a good phone, music/podcast player, and let's me look up stuff. But, I don't need to spend 8 hours a day doom scrolling on my phone!

I don't know.. the notch would still be appearing in the non-pro phones either way so shrinking it wouldn't go to waste.

Reminds me a bit of when Apple redesigned the home button on the iPhone 7 and then released the iPhone X the next year.

What do you mean? Both Face ID and Touch ID phones can require/not require that you unlock your phone to read notifications, based on what your setting is. I think what you may mean to say is that only Face ID allows you to read your notifications from the Lock Screen (without unlocking, going to Home Screen, and then to Notification Center), which is also incorrect. Touching the Touch ID sensor will unlock your phone without exiting the Lock Screen, making notifications in the Lock Screen readable.

And some people may actually prefer that granular control, rather than it automatically unlocking and becoming readable.

I hate the comment section, man. IDK why I felt the need to post this but reading so many uninformed opinions is just tiring. Yall are complaining Apple wouldn’t change the notch two years in a row. What if they did? So what? Dimensions aren’t changing, so why is it you’re so sure you’re right? Maybe they’re doing this as a stopgap—who cares, they’re increasing screen real estate slightly which is a win, and now it’s somehow a negative. YES, they’re behind the times. Apple is a company, they are fallible from time to time. They’re working on it (I hope lol)
