I might be in the minority, but hole punch camera is more annoying than the notch. With a hole punch, there’s content around it, so it’s more noticeable.

I liked that concept from a couple years ago where the camera system was squished into the top bezel-

I agree. Lighting up pixels around the hole punch in an area that’s too small to display any data is a waste in every way.

1,000% agree. I can't see Apple committing such a criminal act since the notch is now an iconic symbol of the iPhone and the pinhole is a copy cat, lame and ugly.

Yikes, iconic symbol? Copycat? Ugly?
Yea that’s a big no, I’m looking at this page right now on a screen with a hole punch camera and it looks way way better than it does on my iPhone, as well as looking more modern and futuristic.
It’s not more noticeable either, in fact, the opposite is true, I can barely even see the hole punch, it blends in with the background most of the time. On Macrumors it disappears into the status bar, whereas the big giant notch is always there, staring you in the face like a massive unibrow. The only time you really see the little hole punch is on the home screen if you have a light colored wallpaper, if you use dark mode all the time and a dark wallpaper it’s like it’s not even there. At night when using the phone in a dark room it’s really neat because the bezels disappear and it looks like you are just holding nothing but a screen in your hands, the notch is an eyesore, especially in landscape mode.
But yea in 3 or 4 years when Apple finally gets a hole punch all of Macrumors will pretend it’s the best thing ever and that Apple is the first to do it.

I'm one of those people that just gets the new iPhone ever year, but seeing these 14 rumors and potentially the fairly large jump it makes on some issues makes me feel even more underwhelmed on this year's release of the 13. I know I'll like the 120 hz screen (i have an ipad pro and i like it) but at the same time i know a week in i won't notice anymore anyway. Oh well... fall of 2022 looks fun lol.

I love my 12 Mini. Great phone. So nice having a smaller phone in my pocket.

I'm glad the screen isn't so big, I'd rather use my Mac or iPad for long reading sessions. I love having a device that is a good phone, music/podcast player, and let's me look up stuff. But, I don't need to spend 8 hours a day doom scrolling on my phone!
Agreed. I do have an iPad and a Mac for bigger jobs. My mum has an iPhone SE. While I don’t love the bigger bezels and the home button, I do love that I can use it one handed - and it feels so light. The mini could be the perfect phone for me but, if not, it’s no big deal to either put it up with it for a year or switch it for a 13 Pro.

I wonder if I’m in a tiny minority. I’m planning to swap my 12 Pro for a 13 mini as long as I don’t lose more than one of the cameras.

Small hands y’see. I’m willing to try the mini for a year and see if the lack of the Pro features and smaller screen size bothers me.
It will likely be your last chance to get an iPhone that size for now. (Less than 5% sales) However I suspect Apple may again release another iPhone Mini to pick up the few that cherish that size every 3 years or so.

I hope Prossor doesn’t get in trouble with Apple. He dropped the bomb 💣 today.

And all those that keep stating 'stop reading at Jon Prosser' shouldn't have been talkign Shhhhhiiiiiz . now a confirmation.

never understood the hate against Jon. yes he acts the fool on youtube but THAT's different from everyone else and it sells views which is what he's after but NOT arbitrary. He posted another video this week stating he was wrong on something - which is humble pie.

Point is he's not just being a douche for subscribers/views/algo hype - he is delivering deets.

So with ProMotion this year and under display FaceID (better than weak camera security on Android) ... is larger batteries and plethora of change this tidbit or that fiddle the only thing Android will have above iOS?

I love the look of that concept design. However the forward facing camera would be impossible to get decent images from, not enough light & pixels in that small size. Apple, I suspect, is working on under screen components. Everything else seems like it could work. Perhaps that is why some rumors point to punch hole displays before we get full display technology.

Apple could buy this old tech from Xiaomi/Huawei.
Lol do you know how many more customers apple has and what type of expectation they have compared to these chinese tech companies? I've used/tried these so called 'under the display tech' from xiaomi and they are at BEST half baked. Meaning the tech itself has TONS of compromises in terms of usability and design/function. I have used these phones and guess what it only works successfully 5/10 times.. maybe 6/10.

These 'tech' the chinese tech companies produce is only possible because they're customer base is basically either non-existent (compared to apple's customer base) so they can do sh**ty tech and call it 'the first innovators'. Please don't fool yourself that the two tech giants Apple and Samsung doesn't have a way to create these half baked 'tech' from xiaomi and huawei are doing. Its not really 'advancement' its more like compromises and telling the world that they're first or they're the only ones that can do it. Apple has HUUUUUGE customer base they gotta take care of and chinese tech is NOT going to cut it because it is not that great.

Kind of annoying these chinese tech companies coming out with sh**ty and half baked tech and claiming that they're first and only ones that can do it.. Apple and Samsung has to do it for REAL not just create compromising tech. Because their fanbase is real and sizeable. So they cannot use half baked and compromising 'tech'.

Samsung is the biggest electronics company in the world leading in technology and total domination of the market. Apple is the same but with mobile phones. The tech they are going to bring is REAL not some sh**ty pretend tech. So when THEY do it.. its the real deal.

Don’t kid yourself and ask yourself.. if the tech the xiaomi and huawei are actually great tech then Apple would’ve ordered BATCHES of it. Take a look at the tech Apple buys from Samsung (displays & chips), LG (displays & camera), sony (camera), sharp/Panasonic (camera). Free market is a wonderful thing.

There is a reason why Apple DOES NOT buy from xiaomi and Huawei.. its because its not good. Its not real tech. Apple know its crippled tech. And no, its not because its for national security.. it’s freaking screen tech and to add on top of that, Apple DOES buy from Chinese tech (well its Taiwanese to be exact) they buy HUUUGE amount of chips from TSMC.

Apple not buying 'tech' from chinese tech companies speaks VOLUMES. There is a reason why they're not doing it.

Go ahead try one of these xiaomi and hueewei's under the display camera and finger print sensors.. they absolutely TERRIBLE. Just try one you'll know what I mean. Its not real innovation. The real advancement will come from Apple and Samsung. TRUST me on this.

My XR hasn't been behaving itself lately. Really want to wait til next year but.....I may have to bite the bullet.

There’s no argument here, a tiny little almost invisible punch hole is worlds better than the giant notch, this isn’t opinion. The fanboys will all say it’s the best thing ever once Apple finally makes one and they get to use it, mark my words.
And yes, it is pretty amazing, maybe in a year, or two, or three ya’ll will find out.

So, no more Touch ID? Or fingerprint scanner?

Why would Apple implement Face ID and Touch ID at the same time?

They need the attributes of the TrueDepth Front Camera to support FaceTime with Depth Effects, which is rumored to be added with the 12s/13 Pro & Pro Max.

Otherwise, I wouldn't think they would (need it).

And I officially wait for the iPhone 14 pro……Fall 2022. Click that attachment for more info.
