I already was planning on waiting until 2021 to upgrade, but ProMotion with LTPO and Snapdragon x60 (5G aggregation) make it worth the wait alone. I don't think I'd upgrade without ProMotion.

You gotta love the things an OEM can do when they have a blind following. No charger, no earbuds, no advance hardware, etc.. They complain and complain, but they keep on buying. Or they don't complain, instead, they justify why Apple doesn't do things first, because they say, Apple wants to do it the "right way." At the same time they call Apple a leader. Yup.

If 5G is the flagship feature for 2020 phones, ProMotion can be a great "S" year feature.
I have to say I'm more interested in 120Hz than 5G at the moment, if the only improvement is 5G I'm skipping this year's phone.
Very ridiculous because they will be removing the charger and the earpods. So it's actually a feature LESS iphone. No point in upgrading. I may just buy the note 20 if that's the case.

If it’s true, I will just hold on to my iPhone X for another year. ProMotion is a must for me, I’ve already been expecting a 90Hz display for the 11Pro.

Apparently Note 20+ is expected to come with QHD+ 120 Hz refresh LTPO tech with bigger screen. I just want to wait for its camera reviews and potential issues since they sell Exynos chipset in my market and also the price is getting huge like iPhones...

This year many may skip fancy upgrades across the globe due to many uncertainties. Last thing they want to spend on is on a mobile at $1200 upwards until $2200. Apple might know this better and hold off making major upgrade this year.

If it doesn’t I’ll be angry there is no way they can’t do it when everyone else is

Just because someone else does it does not mean you should too. example: everyone copying apple's notch.

Though a new iPhone with a notch and no ProMotion is likely a solid no go for me.

Even as I’m typing this on my iPad Pro 12.9 with ProMotion display, I could care less about getting the feature on my iPhone Pro Max (or whatever the next iPhone gets named). The only reason I would want it, is if it is part of the adjustable rate refresh capability, that would reduce power usage in cases where you don’t need high refresh rates.

It may be that I’m spoiled by the screen on my iPad Pro, but without having a more equal size to size comparison, I can’t even tell the difference between the two devices.

Darn - screen improvements are one of the things that makes me want to upgrade. I guess I will just keep enjoying my current iPhone.

This is probably the only feature that would make me consider upgrading this year. I'm pretty happy with everything else.

It seems like this update will be very underwhelming. 5G and a possible battery drain associated with it, paired with the fact that very few markets will have it ready and implemented to begin with. It doesn’t feel like there will be any really compelling features this year. It all makes the 11 Pro models with their solid battery life a better purchase.

It seems like Apple is always behind the curve these days. All those phones are getting it, but not the iPhone?

As soon as the articles about the 2021 iPhone started popping up, we kinda knew we were in for another snoozefest this year
