Seriously, why the **** are people all worked up and excited over FMF app? I don't get it. Google Latitude, Find My Phone, and many other location-based apps have been around for quite some time. This is nothing new, so I'm not sure why people are now pondering how useful/harmful this technology can be when it's something anyone could've achieved a LONG time ago.

PS: I, like many others on here, also think the OP is full of **** and thought it'd be cute to throw out a controversial scenario and see what type of interest it would attract. He wanted attention and he got attention. Clearly he won. Full of **** nonetheless.

You also reached 9to5mac.com haha.

OP: lawyer up and don't look back.

I wondered how long it would take for a BS story like this to surface.
Is Cnet really that desperate for stories they post this crap.
And stupid people just lap it up. Every new iPhone the newbie nutters come outta the woodwork.

Not so sure spying oh her, installing software that would track her location without her knowledge, is the right thing to do. Not good defence if you ever go to court.

Dang, this thread is epic for what it is.

I'm jealous, I wish I would have started it lol...

Except nobody would ever believe that a girl would cheat on me... :/

Jeez. The increasing technology in our lives is removing the all important emotional part of our lives.

Of course I wasn't advocating violence. I was talking like a guy does in a bar.

You people DO remember emotion don't you ?
Where do you get that from?

Yeah, that was why the note was in there, so people wouldn't think that I thought you were doing anything less... so, that's going no where.

And where, again, do you get the idea that anyone is devoid of emotion? Emotion doesn't require you to be entirely irrational.

I wonder if Apple will use this story in their next keynote, or in their commercials to promote the iPhone, and this app? :D

I wish the technology was that advanced few years ago. If I had FMF/FMiP at that time it would shorten the pain I had due to my ex-gf cheating on me. I used a lot of time suspecting and finally proving the painful fact.

If the technology is there, why not use it. Trust but verify.

1.I'm flabbergasted that this nonsense isn't being called out.

2. This is some serious - and quite potentially scary stuff.

3. No one knows whether this poster is a psycho or not - have no idea if he is really talking about someone he is in a relationship with - and yet some people are siding with him and have no problem assuming that she is doing something wrong.

4. Right from the get go if this is a real relationship it was doomed - since he is unable to communicate to her how he really feels - and who knows what she is thinking. Perhaps she goes places to avoid this guy because of his
'insecurity' and general neediness that gets out of hand.

5. Are all you 'get the popcorn and lets watch' type guys going to be happy when you find out ThomasMetz whacked this girl in the meat packing district??? It's not to far out of line for the mentally ill to attempt to generate sympathy for their erratic behavior in order to justify their heinous deeds.

reminds me of a story of I think it was Pan Am that had a promotion for Businessmen to fly their spouses free promotion. Apparently, the promo went so well that Pan Am sent out thank you letters to their customer's homes, where wives who've never even heard of the promo received those letters.

Needless to say, Pan Am had tons of angry wives calling in demanding to know who their husbands were flying with...lots of divorces followed.

Letters, GPS tracking, texting, Facebook, emails == evidence in court

AhHahahahaha brilliant!

As for the OP not sure this story is genuine but it's certainly a good story and I'll certainly keep reading.

If true, the OP better get a picture or find other evidence. To be honest, unless his wife is a super spy, finding evidence is not hard. Email, texts, etc, everything we do these days leaves a trail.

And to anyone living nearby - don't get involved. For all you know the OP might be a crazy stalker. I don't believe that but I'd certainly not take the chance.

Ok. Fine. Get specific. It's still an area. Not a specific dot on a map.

So Shaddup alreadys

:p

Your selection for the Meatpacking District is grossly overinflated. It ends at 14th Street. You have it going past 21st. And you're also including some quiet residential areas of the West Village.

The Meatpacking District of today is tiny.

QFT right on all accounts.

Let's face it cheating is never the problem, the reasons that lead to it in the first place are the problem. Cheating is a symptom.

I think you guys have convinced me that this is all one troll thread, and it's worked too. As my grandfather always said: There are no true or false stories. There are only good ones and bad ones. This is clearly a good one.

I signed up for MR after reading this story elsewhere just to reply to this and I believed it at first until I started reading more and more of the OP's replies..i'm going out on a limb here and saying this is complete and utter promotional "BS!!!!!"

Also fact is the man is stating "She's the rich one"..I know men who've been cheated on..a few actually. Not one of them cared about money!! In these cases men freak out, plot revenge, or simply ignore it..they don't come to a website they've never been a part of sign up and spill this level of beans to the public...had this originated on APPLE's discussion boards it would be more believable but here..where you've never made a comment? C'mon son...at least make your lies believable. Where is your pride as a man..if you had really been cheated on..the last thing you'd care about is going through all these ropes to speak on it..pure unadulterated bs and trust me i'll be looking at the divorce filings in the state of new york for this too.

I could definitely see how this could be used in less than honorable ways. Some guy who has an obsession with a girl, maybe at work, maybe as a group of friends could swipe her phone, quickly install Find My Friends, and return the phone before she knows it. He would then be free to stalk her whenever he wanted.

Are you really going to be keeping an eye out for divorce filings in a state with a population of 30 million people looking for one name that very well could be made up ?
Man that's dedication.

Wow.
Are you perhaps the wife's lover ?

Hehe
:D

Whether is it a good story or not, it's a story that we want to read. :)

Yes, cheating is just a symptom, I fully agree with you. The cause is mutual disrespect and distrust. But cheating imposes severe pain to the victim, it may also be the cause of violence if the victim doesn't know how to control the pain and anger. And the persons involved will never be friends again in their lives.

Prior and honest communication of the desire to break up is the best choice.
