So… um what happened?

Just because you gave me permission to drive a car that you bought, doesn't make it mine ;)

Sorry, we don't have the luxury that is CCTV tracking you everywhere.

Yes in England, they don't need Find my Friends, they can just ask the police to review the video footage from the cameras mounted on every lamp post. :D

apple employee trolls trying to promote the find my friends app.. I call propaganda... where's my tin hat?!!

lets not forget Steve Jobs hired David Rice (NSA analyst) to apple back in 2010...

If it is true HE is screwed. Think about it! If she really is cheating in New York State and he ported details here, she will get EVERYTHING in Divorce Court. IN NYS she could have even killed someone, she will get most of his stuff! NYS Divorce Courts favor women very heavily have fathers have zero rights!

Apple shares up $4 today to all time highs. Great publicity stunt. Now everyone will want an iPhone and this app for similar reasons.

As far as the OP, I am starting to believe there might be truth and he's worried now this might impact his case since it has caught on to several tech blogs. His vent has now been publicized and any more details might also become widespread. If I were his lawyer, I'd tell him to pipe down and try and get as much as he can.

In the meantime, nothing of note in the NY Police Blotter

I agree in some respects but these things often get settled and it may be best for your case to not talk too much. But why would posting on a forum impact the case from a legal standpoint?

Man, I'm sorry, but the articles reporting on these posts are more an example of bad journalism than anything else. They have done no fact checking at all, the one you posted didn't even bother to note it was a forum post and could easily be a troll (the one I read at least put a disclaimer at the end saying he was more interested in the implications of FMF and that it showed them, but he could have mentioned that at the beginning, "Man's claim on forum illustrates the potential/implications of FMF" but of course that's not as flashy).

Sorry, any article that just takes this thread at its word and reports on it like fact without any fact checking or just barely a mention that the source is questionable is just piss poor journalism and an example of why journalism today has really gone downhill/lazy.

I've seen posters on here put more effort into figuring out if the OP is for real or not than those journalists.

So people will now be forced to buy 2 iPhones now. One to keep at the place where there are supposed to be and the other (with location turned off) in your pocket.

Epic move by Apple.

So what happen next OP?... This is like the best thread ever hahaha! man This news actually all over the web now and becoming a net sensation. GG OP lol!

The OP has probably gone into hiding from his wife's new "Heat Packing Meat Packing" boyfriend.

"Till death do us part. Or till I discover that my sleazy little spouse has been secretly following my movements with an adorable little Apple app."

Lol awesome

Hahaha, so the cheating wife isn't the sleaze?

He's either a very good Troll.. or the story is true and he's too devastated right now to post another response.

The OP had to go away. There is no way a 14 year old can give interviews now that this story has gone viral.

You know why I don't believe the story?

Because it's too "good". It plays right into the hands of what everyone is talking about could happen with FMF in a way that is exciting for people (ha ha, look that woman got pwned!). It's just perfect enough to be believable without being too far out in the realm of fantasy to start making people question it. And it is amusing enough for people to want it to be real.

It's like seeing those stories where some one is so stupid that it is hard not to laugh at him/her or flame him/her. Stupid but yet funny enough to be like, "Wow, I can't believe (and yet I can) the stupidity" but not so stupid to be completely unbelievable where people go, "Don't believe it. Go away troll". One of the best I saw was a thread where a guy claimed he accidentally put NOS the energy drink into his motorcycle and played innocent that he thought it was the other kind of NOS (he posted a pic of the soft drink and was griping about how the NOS product made his motorcycle run badly)... even playing it up the stupid to people when he replied back, acting completely oblivious. It worked too, it got passed around a whole bunch of motorcycle forums, people had way too much fun flaming him and laughing at him, and in the end it was proved he was just trolling everyone (and it took pages for anyone to start bringing up that possibility, it was just too good a thread people didn't want to believe it was fake.

That and has the OP even responded back at all to this thread? I suspect he's just laughing at all the responses.

I agree. Just like the girl who "lost her virginity and texted it to her father by mistake" story from a few years ago.

http://thechive.com/2008/12/05/one-great-reason-not-to-have-a-best-friend-named-darcy/

A bunch of news outlets and TV shows repeated the story.

It was a great story, but turned out to be a hoax orchestrated by a site that does silly stories in the style of The Onion.

Lol. Looks like this guy's story has caught someone else's attention. Smile OP, you're on CNET! :D

It is spreading!

ABC News story on "Find my cheating wife!"

See the rush of paranoid spouses everywhere buying iPhones!

/humor

Seriously tho, far too many couples get married without a frank and serious talk of their expectations, sexual and otherwise.
The fact the OP used covert methods is a pretty strong hint of lack of openness in the relationship.

This, and the CNET and Yahoo stories, really exemplify some great journalism. All they’re doing is repeating the info in this thread, and so far no one has even determined the veracity of the OP (if that’s even possible)
