I'm not a sound "snob" per say but I used them when that was what I had. My mom bought me a nice set of headphones that do sound much better (I can't tell you if they have the best sound, unless the sound is absolutely horrible it doesn't tend to bug me) though, enough that I notice. Plus they mute outside sounds better so easier to listen to what I want to listen without having to turn the music up to drown out outside distractions.

I still have a set of the stock ones I keep in my purse just in case I want them. As I said, they don't bother me and I can handle the sound quality when listening to music. But I will admit that they aren't great (and as I said, I'm not picky).

As for Britney being a good singer... well I don't really like Gaga either (well at least the little I've heard honestly). Adele at least vocal wise is impressive (but I've only heard one song ;), I don't pay much attention to pop). Not that I'm an expert. But I will say I can admit when music I like is crap but I just like it (I'll admit there is a lot of crap I listen to ;) ). There's a difference between something being quality/showing skill/creativity/originality and just liking it cause it sounds good to you *shrug*.

They are useful anywhere, despite what you're doing. They work better than average.
Show me one "music producer" that would use the junk Apple buds for music listening or brag about them in the way you are? I should ask my two actual producer friends just to see what their response would be lol.

Please explain how they are useful? B/c let's see:
1) they fall out at the gym or really with any type of movement/motion, check!
2) they have tinny screechy treble with bad mids and basically no lows, check!
3) no sound insulation, have fun trying to watch a movie on a plane for example and having to hear the "air" noise and other frequencies. Let alone watching something like an action movie on a plane where the Apple buds are useless, vs a 10 buck pair of check skull candies that actually cancel out outside noise, and have good treble, mids and especially lows vs the Apple buds.

So please explain to us? I road course race, that'd be like me saying I'm going to buy a Civic b/c even though it's not remotely as fast on track, it can still make it around a course, for that matter a Yugo could as well.

they stay in my ears better than any other ear bud especially while running. just wish the quality was decent

I used to use them with my iPod back before I realised they were terrible. Now I just leave the stock headphones in the box with anything I get. I use Skullcandy earphone, which I guess are not really great, but they have good volume and decent bass which is all I really want. I usually use speakers over headphones when I can anyway.

Can't stand them, the worst earphones I've ever used for sound quality and comfort. Never understood why Apple didn't do better with something as critical as this...

This thread is about the Apple earbuds, not ones music tastes. I listen to music by Pinback, Foster the People (whom probably would lose their Indie status after the song Pumped up Kicks), and more songs by people 90% of you probably have never even heard of,....but when I want to enjoy music, it is through my V-Moda headphones. When I just want to hear something, and then answer a call here and there while walking to the Metro stop, it is the Apple ones.

You're ALL clueless and naive. Not even Gaga makes her music. You think she sits in front of a computer and spends hours on ProTools/Logic/Cubase and creates tracks? LOL so naive. She may be the most talented out the top 40 bunch, but she is still mediocre at best.

The only thing Gaga probably knows how to do is go on Facebook and look on iTunes to see when her music gets there, like 99% of all the other celebrities out there. At least its been proven she uses a Mac right ;).

No they fall out

This for me, but I do use them when I have to :)

I already explained to you what a good vocalist is. Did you even read what I said?

You dont know

Britney has an amazing amount of character in her vocals and thats what creates the atmosphere. Its the little squeals and the acting in the voice and the charisma.

She needs all the help of a PA system she can get to sound good. She wouldnt even last on American Idol. Much like Taylor Swift who isnt that good live.

Britney probably has more sex appeal in one oooh or ahhh than most of the people you consider "good singers."

Britney is a train wreck. She is good at that!

Again, you have to be attractive to understand. If you are socially and sexually neutered there is probably nothing to find enjoyable about Britney.

Love the shot in the dark statement. I suppose your telling us what a good looking person you are? Save it for someone who cares....like your momma. Its like the guy bragging that he has a big unit. The guy that usually does that, doesnt have one. Much like how you try to tell us how smart you are. You dont come close to making a good arguement for yourself. One just has to read your jibberish fanboy replies to see that.

Even if she is 30 now, the latest record actually pioneered the current sound on the radio. All the music credit goes to people like Dr. Luke and masterminds like that anyway. Britney is the presenter, the actor. They are the writers and producers. Thats how teams are assembled to make great pop music. Her team is the best. End of story.

I dont care who she has. Her music stinks and is unappealing to those over 20,.... Which tells us something about you. Even Justin Bieber is more talented but i dont care for his music either.

Its more about marketability. Taylor Hicks won American Idol. Hows he doing? Clearly he can sing. There are many that won that show or were up there in the top three who arent doing much while some that didnt win are doing well....like Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Kelly Pickler. Jennifer Hudson got voted off even though she could sing and sing well but she was big,....and is now more marketable since she is slimmer. You dont see Susan Boyles being real marketable but she sure can sing circles around Britney.

Sorry dude, you dont know much of what your talking about. Pretty funny that your vain enough to try and act important in every topic you post in.

You just never know who you are talking to here and what or who they know so id give up if i were you.

I dislike them with a passion but my wife swears by them. She uses them extensively at the gym and refuses to use anything else, she claims they stay put where others fall out. I've even bought her a decent pair of Shures but she's not interested. I don't get it but so long as she is happy... :p

I don't like them either, and its both the sound and the fact they pop out of my ears all the time. I got suckered in a purchased some beats by Dre as well, and to be honest didn't think much to the sound or the fact that i could hear the cables move in my ear as I walked.

I just got some Sennheiser IE60's, and love them the sound is massive, clear and full of bass, (but not too much)

I'm happy listening to Slayer and Pig Destroyer with them as I am with Johnny Cash, Sub Focus and Daftpunk.

No one is right or wrong here its just personal preference.

Total carbage if u ask me....

I've had 3 of these and 3 of them were dead about 3 months in of using them

+ the plastic part started to scratch my ear...

Any good alternatives?

Some of the best earbuds I have owned. I do enjoy using them.

They're fine for me. Plus the whole remote control feature is really useful for me (used a radio remote on all my iPods for years until Apple decided to stop supporting their hardware because there were too many 3rd party accessories). Sound quality isn't great but it's good enough for travelling for me.

been using my original earbuds that came with my iPhone for the last couple of days as I managed to lose my klipsch s4i's , and although before i owned the klipsch's i used to love the apple buds , now they are just doing my head in, the shape of them hurts my ears every time i put them in, not really an audio person so can't comment on the quality of the sound from them but they are defiantly not comfortable to wear (for me at least).

[MOD NOTE]

STOP the arguing and bickering. This thread is about Apple's earbuds, not anything else.

I cleaned up the thread trying to maintain the integrity of the subject matter.
