I’ve gone off of mine, so I’m having a day or two without it.

See if I miss it.

Do you ever do this? Or do you wear it always?

S8 (Aluminium).

Tempted by an Ultra 2 (or perhaps Ultra if I can get one on a good deal) but I have small wrists so not sold on it.
I have small wrists.

160mm, so I go with the 41mm.

The Ultra would look hideous on me. I also do not like the aesthetics.

I need to measure mine again but I think mine are in the 150ish range. I don't remember exactly. I have seen people with small wrists using the Ultra and I don't think it looks terrible, but I'm more worried about any functionality issues. If the Ultra's larger frame makes it harder for it to detect my heart rate - that's not what I want. I don't think that will be an issue though. Hopefully.

I actually really dislike the design of the Ultra.

Do you not think the “traditional” Apple Watch looks more polished/versatile?

I do prefer normal Apple Watch look. But I like the extended battery life of the Ultra more than I dislike its look, if that makes sense. But yes, for that reason I might keep the S8 if I get an Ultra. It’s not pretty (Ultra) but it’s functional.

I’d never go for an Ultra.

Maybe the “regular” series 9 will offer something that intrigues you?

At the end of the day, if your S8 does everything you need/want, I’d say you’re good. No need to upgrade.

Yep. Nothing wrong with the S8 but I get an “allowance” through work for “health spending” each year. I could use that on a gym membership but I could choose to use it on an Ultra. Doesn’t cover the entire cost of the Ultra but it goes a long way. It would cover the entire cost of the aluminium S9, assuming pricing is consistent with the S8.

They’d accept me spending it on an iPad too, they’re reasonably liberal, but an AW is genuinely a health device. iPad not so much 😀

Nice perk.

Do you think you’d sell/pass on your S8 if you upgraded?

I do a few things. I often switch between my Apple Watch Ultra, and a few mechanical watches I have. If I am not doing that, I simply wear no watch at all (as I have done for the last two weeks!), and only a wedding ring...

I take off my AW to charge or when my wrist needs a break. My skin is sensitive and some bands irritate my skin (like the sport band). Otherwise I try to wear it all the time to get the most out of my purchase.

I can't complain too loudly :D I did sell my SE when I got the S8, but as you mentioned, with the Ultra having a much different look I think I'd hang onto the S8 for a few months. If I find I'm tempted to wear it now and then, then I'd keep it. If I find I never wear it, then I'd move it on. I do like the fact that the straps are moveable between the two (S8/Ultra). If I just for an S9 then I'll sell the S8 for sure. Life is short, they're relatively expensive devices but it's not like a house or car purchase. It would suck to buy the Ultra and then have to move it on if it's not for me, but I just might take the gamble. The smart thing would be to make a decision within the return window of course.

My wrist is really small -- I wear the size 1 solo loop, can't remember what that is in milimeters. And I really liked the Ultra when I tried it. Yes, it's a bit large, but it's surprisingly comfortable once it's on my wrist. And I didn't notice any problems with it measuring my heart rate. And I totally loved the screen -- I actually felt like reading the news on it! I also liked the raised rim, felt like it protected the screen. I'm neutral on the overall look of the Ultra, I don't think it crashes with my style, and I love the functions so much, I don't care much how it looks.

I did eventually decide to go with the S8, mostly because of the cost. And also because a smaller size does fit me better. But if Apple ever comes out with a smaller Ultra, I'll love to get that. Or perhaps they'll manage to incorporate a Ultra-like screen on the regular watches. I'm really looking forward to that.

I only wear my AW in bed when I am, for some reason, extra anxious to wake up in time. Most days I have it on all day long and only take it off to shower or to give some wrist time to one of my other watches (these days a dw6640 gshock).

Thinking of signing up for Apple Fitness+.

Walking bores me, and biking wouldn’t be enjoyable when it’s peeing down (UK weather.)

With Apple Fitness+, there’s not really many excuses one can come up with to swerve it.

I’ve exhausted my trial period (hardly used it) but I can get a month of All In for free, to see if AF+ will be for me.

If it is, £9.99 per month (£2.50 per week) is pretty good going.

You wear the same 41mm as myself, if I remember correctly?
