My iP4 is Arwen, beautiful and white. Wifeys black iP4 is Sauron (it rarely does what I want...) and our two iPads are Legolas and Gollum (Gollum is still on 3.2.2, hence very dumb). Main router is 'a s s wipe' and NAS-server is jizzbag (don't ask)

Look, this is a very important topic and like many network bafoons I opted to use characters from Lord of the Rings for all my nw devices. Read up on it

I have no nickname for my iPhone, but my macs are Doris and Rita.

If anyone gets the reference, I commend you.

I guess it goes to show you how good the current Iphone is compared to technology just a few years ago when a smart phone was just a dream when reading forums. It's amazing now that the forum topics are about asking if you have a nick name for your phone. What has happened to posts about signing patitiions to sue COMPAQ for leaving a function from the IPAQ?

Don't have an iPhone now, but my iPod shuffle 1st gen is VanillaApe, iPod nano 1st gen is ChocoApe, and iPod touch is TouchApe EXTREME, named after the first of my touches.

The Ape thing is an inside joke in my family. ;D

You people are verrrry , eh, interesting ...

Mine's called Old Dirty Hank in iTunes, but I'd never refer to it that way in real life. I love it more than I probably should, but really, it's just a phone.

I don't really refer to any of my devices by these names in real life, but I do have fun names assigned to devices either in iTunes, or computer names/SSIDs/etc

My first iPod was a 1st gen shuffle, I called it Serenity.
Then I got an 80 GB iPod Classic, it's name is "The Black Pearl", and the back has "A Pirate's Life for Me" inscribed on it.

Then there's the total Stargate nerdiness that encompasses the rest of our household computing.

My 13" MBP - "Atlantis"
My iPhone (I keep the same name each time I upgrade my iPhone) - Daedalus
My wife's iPod touch - "Destiny"
My wife's iPod nano - "Formidable Craft"
My wife's Vaio - "Icarus"
My HTPC - "MALP"
Router SSID - "Stargate Command"
My flash drive - "Jumper1"

And then there's our backup external HDD, that has 3 paritions -
My Time Machine backup - "Midway Station"
My wife's backup - "Alpha Site"
extra storage space - "Area 51"

Yeah, we've put a lot of thought into this.

I named my ipod "titanic"
so when it says "syncing Titanic" i press cancel and i feel like a hero! =] lol

Earl

A couple of my friends have iPhones and one of them named his "Earl." So after he announced that, our other friend named his iPhone Earl as well. It started a small flame war between them! (All in good fun though).

So then once I got this new iMac to replace my other iMac, I named the new one Earl and the older one Earl Jr just to rub it in to our friend who first named his iPhone.

Oddly enough, I never named my iPhone.... Maybe I should name it uh, er... Earl! Yeah that's it, Earl.
