Two girls in my school had them.

I was like OMG! Is that Zune?! I have ever seen anything like it before:eek: ;)

By software you mean iTunes? Because the software on it handles exactly like ipod's.

I though it used a Microsoft Zune Only SF ?
I dont mean the interface on the player but the software to get the music and manage it on the player.

And since we all how how quality and secure MS software is...

Plus I am happy with my iPods - I just love the intergration of iPod and iTunes... I started saving for an ipod when I first saw it come out, I did eventually get one for my grad.

No the Zune does not snyc with iTunes.

I don't know anyone who has one, but when I have seen the displays in the stores, they look massive, and The brown it just looks horrible.

Never seen anyone in real life w/one

I've seen billboard ads, magazine ads, store display ads and the real thing behind a case. Heck, I even have friends who work at M$ and want a zune.

The Zune store is called..Zune Store, or Zune Marketplace. You can buy the songs or rent the songs with money or Microsoft points (and the ms points can be used for a variety of MS products but most use them for Xbox 360), and I think it also works with MTV's music store, but I can't think of the name of the store right now...

Anyways, I have heard rumors and rumblings that soon you will be able to buy music off of the Live Marketplace on Xbox 360, made specifically to use in Windows based players such as Zune. Also let me correct you about Microsoft and their software. Microsoft for the most part, is one of, if not the best software company in the world. The irony of that is, they fail many times in making a great product in the portion of their business that makes the most money, and that is Windows. Keep in mind: as long as it doesn't say Windows, its OK!

Personally though, I like Windows XP, it's Windows 95 back in the day, and Vista that piss me off. I mean, it took them like 5 years to make Vista, and it comes out feeling rushed...and it pisses me off.

Many of Microsoft's products however, Microsoft Office, XNA Framework, Xbox, Xbox 360, I couldn't go without at this point.

I also like to use Messenger, because while Im on my 360, my friends can message me, and thats a hell of a lot easier than getting off my lazy ass and checking my computer messages.

We had a girl in Customer Service who received one as a gift from her boyfriend. She has a MacBook, too. So sad to see them together. I told her she should dump the guy for having such bad taste.

Oh, and we ultimately fired her.

Out of work and stuck with a brown Zune. At least she has a Mac.

My friends iPod broke so he said eff it to the iPod and almost bought a Zune. He bought some other weird MP3 player. Needless to say, I hope it breaks.

I am evil.

I haven't seen one outside a store, in real life. I see lots of cheap flash-based players, and I see lots of iPods, naturally, but I have not seen a Zune. I think I occasionally see other HD-based players from Creative and so forth, but very rarely. I'm curious where they're being sold, as they apparently have been as high as 10-12% of new HD-based player sales over some recent months.

I used to fly very frequently and I've seen lots of people with iPods at the airport, but almost no other brand. I think I've seen a guy with a Zune once some months ago, but that was one of the last times I have flown, so they may be more common now.

There are a few people with Creative brand players at work, I owned a SanDisk one for a while and I know a few people with iPods. I still get amazed looks at the size of my 2nd gen Shuffle at work. I guess my friends are not that into music.

Best of Both Worlds

Ok, I'm a newbie here, but I figure I'll start participating. I'm a big MS fan when it comes to some things, like the 360, the Xbox, and the Zune. I really like my Zune (yes, I have one...it's white). The interface is very user friendly. Having only recently purchased a MacBook Pro, and an iPod nano with it, I have to give the credit to Microsoft for making a very aesthetically pleasing interface. The wheel on the iPod ends up annoying me, and it's somewhat difficult to navigate. I realize that comparing the nano to the Zune is apples to oranges, but I still favor the Zune. On the other hand, since there is no software out for the Zune on Mac OSX (to my knowledge at least), my use of the Zune has diminished somewhat. In summary:

Zune Pros:
-Radio
-Music Subscription Service (listening to all the music you ever wanted before you actually are forced to buy it is perfect for me)
-Screen size
-Navigation system
-Meeting someone else who has a Zune...priceless. It almost makes you feel like you've found a long lost brother.

Zune Cons:
-Doesn't run on Macs w/o windows
-Zune Marketplace is new and doesn't have nearly half the features of iTunes in terms of movies and tv. Music it's pretty close in.
-Number of people using it
-File sharing DRM restrictions for music transfer

That's it, straight from the horse's mouth.

I met a guy at university that has one. It looked (oddly enough) like a really early version of the iPhone. (Yeah, everyone get mad!!!) It was more rectangular than the iPod, thin, bigger screen. Three main buttons at the bottom. I'm saying, they basically copied the ipod look but with a bigger screen. So if you think it's that ugly, you need to look at the ipod again.

In all honesty, if my battery dies on my iPod I would look into getting one unless the ipod gets radio and wifi in the next gen.
(I hope I get lots of hate comments for this post for telling my hands on experience:rolleyes: )

Oddly enough, the iPod doesn't come in turd brown and hello kitty pink.

Maybe SJ actually has some fashion sense after all. :p ;) :D

Ugh. I've known 2 classmates with them. One was a white one.....it was really....gray. And my other friend owned a black one.

It's a horrible product. A very horrible product. They were constantly spitting out ads everywhere in the newspaper for Circuit City and Best Buy, but they are nowhere to be seen in any recent ads since Easter.

Yep, one of my coworkers has a Zune.

And a MacBook, iMac (i think) and a Windows PC.

Other than the turd colored one and the fact it requires Windows, the Zune doesn't seem like a terrible MP3 player. Then again, Creative and the others have some decent offerings too, and I'd probably consider them if they worked seamlessly with iTunes.

So, has anyone here who's bashing the Zune ever actually used one? And I mean more then spending 10 seconds with the Best Buy demo model. Or are you just bashing it since it's a Microsoft product?

I've never used one, so I can't comment on it either way, but it doesn't seem like a terrible player. Sure, I remember making a photoshop or two with a BSOD on a Zune, but that's poking fun at Microsoft :D I'm just curious to know if those who are going "ZOMG ZUNE SUX!!!!111" have ever used one.

At my university's IT store, they had a lot of Zunes and what do you know? none of them sold, until they gave a $75 price cut. After that just about everyone I knew, even people with many macs went out and purchased one b/c a deal is a deal and surprisingly few people ebayed them. But everyone still uses the white iPod headphones they have. Basically everyone there has either a iPod and a nano or a zune and nano, the nano for exercising, the Zune/iPod for whatever else.

It's kinda neat though b/c since like 800+ people at my university have Zunes, a lot of people share through wifi and what not, it's not the greatest system but it works ok for them I guess.

Fashion sense. LOL. Dude's been wearing the same style of outfit for years. Yeah, Apple nailed the perfect, hippest colors:rolleyes:

EDIT: @yg17 -- good call -- case in point, everyone that's only argument against it is that its "turd brown". That was funny the first thousand times I heard that. If you don't like the brown or the pink, they also have BLACK and WHITE (oddly enough just like the iPod).

I don't KNOW anyone but I did see someone one time on a bus that had a brown one. I started chuckling as a walked by but he seemed to be enjoying it so more power to him i guess :p

Ditto. It was weird seeing one for the first time outside the internet. To quote Mean Girls: "It's like seeing a dog walk on its hind legs."

Hell no. It's not even out here yet  The European Commisioner for Decent MP3 Players banned it.

Actually... I wonder if they did ship the Zune here, would they have to strip the media playing software on it to give other software a fair chance :D
