It is on all the time, but only for certain apps. I am usually in areas where there is WiFi and I use that.

No, I have unlimited and while vzw just raised my rates :( and I don't "abuse" it, I turn off when home to save battery life, such as it is.

If you're connected to wifi at home not sure if turning off cellular data would actually save any additional battery life or would be significant enough to bother at all.

Always on (in the U.S.).

We have 5 phones on 20gb plan and never went over 10gb. Most months are closer to 6gb.

It only takes a few users watching tv/movies onlines to jack that up though.

As title says

Do you leave it on all the time, or only when WiFi is unavailable.
Yeah mine is always on.

battery life is better with it off but not enough for it to matter. My phone lasts all day easily and thats what you want.

I only turn off data if I leave the country, as my carrier charges a ton for roaming. Otherwise, I'm on wifi almost all the time anyway. I have 5GB of data a month, but I don't think I've ever used more than 1GB.

I only use Bluetooth in my car though, so I turn it off everywhere else.

I leave it on, a friend of mine turns hers off when she is within wifi, but it doesn't bother me.

I never bother turning any of the radios (WiFi, Cellular or Bluetooth) - my phone easily lasts me all day and gets charged overnight so I don't see the point in trying to reduce battery consumption :)

Im turning it off whenever i dont use it or need it on coz i dont have unlimited data. also i noticed in the house when the wifi signal dropping a bit (but still usable) its 'jump back' to cellular, even if its not really necessary. and lets not talk about system services eating cellular data even if i dont use them...

I leave it ON the whole day until and unless I feel like the battery is draining faster or I keep on getting useless notifications when I be busy in my college or work... however, I use my WiFi at home :)

Have you checked your WiFi assist setting in relation to dropping the WiFi connection?

I leave mine on. Have developed habits to limit any significant damage.
WiFi Assist is off.

Is there some reason why I wouldn't leave it on all the time? If the phone has a wifi connection, it will use it, if it has a cellular connection, it will use it.

Please don't spout the "wifi assist" paranoia at me, either. If you have a reasonable rationale for turning it off... what is it?

When I tested and found out in certain areas of my abode it swapped to LTE when I expected wifi.
Give me the ability to set signal strength vs. on and it becomes very useful.
This has been discussed.

On the iPhone, yes. All radios are always on. On the iPad it's switched on as needed.

Does just leaving cellular data 'on' use up any data?
Depends on what you have running and using data and not just the switch itself. The switch just enables a method of getting data. It does not request data.

Forgot about that. We do turn it off when travelling internationally and using our carrier's international roaming.

If I'm at home I turn mobile data off but as soon as I leave house I turn it on

Just curious, but why? Presumably, at home you have WiFi, so your cellular data won't be used anyway, especially if you turn off the WiFi Assist.

I turn mine on, and leave it on. Unless, as others have said, I'm travelling internationally.

Why?

If you are on WiFi, you aren't using mobile data anyways. Turning it off when you are on WiFi does nothing for battery life savings, as it's not being used in the first place. If you wanted to save battery, you could toggle airplane mode though.

I turn it off because sometimes not always it seems to use data and not wifi when I'm at home. It could be my virgin router but it no big deal for me to turn it off

Yikes....why so hostile bro? The OP seems to only be asking a question.

I used to leave cellular/data on all the time. But recently AT&T started up wi-fi calling. When I am home on my internet connection I have lately turned off cellular completely. I have poor cellular reception at home 1-2 dots and great wi-fi connection 4-5 dots using wi-fi calling.

And the battery life is super fantastic 16 hrs active, 105 hours standby with the cell radio off. Took about 5 days to remember to turn cellular on when I leave house, now it's just routine, wallet>check, keys>check, cellular on>check.

I leave cellular and WiFi on 24/7.
With the iPhone 4 and 5 I used to switch cellular to 2G at home because it greatly improved battery life. With the 6+ and 6S+ I just leave it on 4G all the time.

ai have it off for certain apps i dont use without wifi anyway or to avoid their ads on mobile data like with free games

I can't believe anyone would "turn off cellular data", but I can understand using WiFi.

If the question is "do you ever use Wi-Fi?", then my answer is Yes, absolutely.
