do you let strangers use your phone to make calls?

I wouldn't. Maybe I would if I had a dumb phone.
My dad used my phone the other day and I asked him to hold it over the table afraid he'd drop it. So, even if the stranger didn't steal my iphone 5, I'd still be afraid they'd damage it.

Lmao i hate when people i know ask to see/borrow my phone let alone a stranger. Everytime someone does ask me like my family or friends they smudge up the screen like crazy with there oily ass hands and dirt they muck up the phone...call me ocd but it pisses me off lmao

The guy one time asked me to call, he was about to give me £30 for it, 1 call, but as it was iPhone 4 at that time (2010) and dude was bigger than me I didn't let him.

I have on two occasions. Once I let a guy borrow it on the side of the expressway whose car was broken down so he could call for someone to get him.

Then another time while riding my bicycle home, a girl had locked herself out of her house and she used it to call for help.

I carry a concealed weapon and can run a mile in 7 minutes. I don't think I worry about people stealing my phone. :). But, c'mon sometimes you just have to do good and get some good karma on your side.

I've let people use it. Hasn't happened too often probably about a dozen times total but every time it's been a girl and usually not bad looking. I realize it's sexist but I would be less inclined to let a guy use my phone to make a call.

Perhaps it's a 'British reserve' thing, but I've never been asked and would be amazed if anyone ever did. I might let them, depending on the person and the context. Probably not though. I cringe when my mates even hold my new phones with their chunky rings and clumsy fingers.

(Cue scores of posts from fellow Brits saying it happens all the time....)

I got approached outside Euston Station by someone who said their iPhone was flat. I refused to let them and was perfectly honest about it - I told them I didn't know them and for all I knew they could be about to run off with my Phone. I did have a charger battery with me though so charged their phone up for them for 10 minutes so they could make a call on their own phone :)

i take a train to work everday going thru some rough neighborhoods and maybe once every 3-4 months i get someone asking me to let them use my cell to make a personal call. i didnt mind letting them use it as it was a crappy phone(samsung epic 4g) and i never thought someone would want to steal it(thankfully no one has ever tried). today some dude asked me to let me borrow my phone(iphone 5) and i did but i was a little nervous. i even moved over towards the staircase in case he made a run for it. he did not and thanked me for letting him use the phone....

do you guys ever let people use your phone for calls? i dont think i am anymore as i dont have theft insurance, only applecare

Absutetly not too much personal info on my phone to possibly lose it

Generally no. Especially if they see you using an iPhone and then ask.

The NY tri-state area has way too much Apple Picking for me to be part of the statistic.

Car accident, 911, I can make the call for them.

One asked me in my complex, did not allow that person to use the phone, but I offered to call for her, and asked if this was an emergency. She said no, just wanted to call a friend. The call was never made. ;)

No one but myself, and family will ever touch my phone.

I USED to be willing to lend mine oout when it was needed. But with my phone now being as expensive as it is, having all the personal info it has, and with cell phones in general being so common now, I don't let anyone use my phone anymore unless it's an absolute emergency, for two reasons:

1. iPhone 5, 'nuff said

2. Even if it was a cheap phone, I have no idea who you're calling or what the situation is, and my phone number is going to be associated with that call. For all I know it's an innocent situation, OR you're calling your bookie, drug dealer, overprotective parents or jealous significant other. I don't want that headache.

Prepaid cell phones are cheap. If you don't have a cell phone by now, I'm gonna have to wonder why.

I might make exceptions. If you're a stranded kid, obvious victim of a horrific car accident, a police officer, or amish, then sure. But that's about it.

Good thing I didn't ask you people lol my iPhone 5 died yesterday so I had to ask a stranger if I could use their phone. I need another lighting cable for my car

Hey if it was an emergency, sure. I'll hold your iPhone 5 while you make a call on mine, then we'll swap again when you're done.

Depends on the situation. If it's another student at school, especially one I kind of know, I would. In some other cases I have allowed people to use my phone I don't really know. Luckily, I run every day, so I could keep up or run past other people if they try running away with my phone. I run over 100km a month.

I let people use my iPhone to make calls if I can watch them while they use it and am in good condition to chase them down if they decide to run off with it.

Last time I lent someone my phone to make a call, I was on a light rail train, so there was no threat of the guy running away with it :p

I wouldn't. Infact I've hot criticized and called out my name in front of a wholebus load of people when I wouldn't. I did when I had older phones but apple phones are heavily in demand. Besides, I'm a size 6 wearing slender figured female.. I gotta protect myself by not setting my self up for risky situations!
