If you change icon of an app that is running, you'll have to restart the app to see the changed icon

You don't have to relaunch the app if you add this trick:

Code:
-- Restart the Dock to refresh the icons
    do shell script "killall Dock"

It's already in the script. However, I find if the app is running, I still have to restart it. Best to close the app before running the script

Ah ok. I didn't read the actual script, but now I see that I'm using the exact same script as you (with same comments etc.) sure taken from the same source. But I don't need to relaunch the app (at least on Ventura, didn't test on Tahoe yet).

One of Tim & Co's most idiot moves. While AI is moving towards making things cognitively easier, Apple actually goes backward with Liquid Glass. Although you can reduce transparency, you can't undo stupidities like what Tim has done with certain apps in dark mode -- such as making the addressee of iMessages nearly invisible. Way to go Tim, you're doin' a hell of a job!

As long as it doesn't slow the everything down. Since upgrading the OS to Tahoe (M1 Pro 16") and my iPhone 15 Pro Max I can definitely notice it's slower than previous, just not as snappy, and its slower enough that it annoys me.

One could also argue that 54% of people don't mind it.

This really should have just been a Yes/No poll. The 'Meh' option throws things off.
Then throw out the Meh results; they are not relevant to the survey, and people who voted Meh are not inclined to vote Yes or No anyway. 60% of the remaining votes are No. That doesn't seem like a win for a UI overhaul as big as this.

Tahoe has done many things for me. It has scrambled the desktops between my macs, it has reorganized my files. It no longer allows me to open the powerpoint presentation I need to give tomorrow (or maybe I can only do it on the desktop not the laptop?). It has taken a vested interest in being sure I AUTOMATICALLY update my Microsoft apps (so I can be surprised with new features and have to show finger shadows to customers while waiting for apps to update whenever they feel like it) rather than have some control over when things update. But wait, isn't it PRETTIER? I feel like I have been robbed and all everyone talks about is how well dressed the robber was.

I've already bought a PC for the kids. I may have to buy myself another this afternoon so I can talk tomorrow. I just couldn't be happier with Apple.

How have you gotten those windows to overlap the menu bar? Is that another bug in Tahoe?

No bug, and nothing to do with the RDP client mentioned in the post above.

The windows in my snips are not overlapping the menu bar, they are sitting just below it. Tahoe makes the menu bar fully transparent with no defined bottom edge. You can turn this behavior off and restore the original look. Here's a better example:

I have not yet upgraded my iPhone or MacBook yet, but did upgrade my iPad. I played around with MacOS 26 at the Apple store and I really do not like how layered the glass is. There seems to be so much wasted space and unnecessary noise of how the left panel in Finder and in all apps adds a border/outline. I would have opted for a glass version of the previous Finder and left panel where there is contrast but not layering. The radius of the corners on apps is also too much and makes it look cheap.

I hate what they did to Apple Music. I used to be able to leave the mini player in the bottom left corner of my screen, and easily add a song to a playlist by clicking the 3 dots. That option is now gone in the mini player, so I either have to live it big or open it, then add a song, then shrink it. This is the Apple way, take things away, then add them back years later as an "new feature"

YES!

—there's alot across the macOS environment like this... things in Phone/FaceTime/Messages/Contacts/Safari. All now with basic features obfuscated or overly redesigned. Its very frustrating, I thought this redesign was meant to 'get out of the way' not force you to 'click more buttons' or dive out of what your doing 'to get to a setting' etc etc.

not thats its a competition... but since the start of the thread ive been monitoring the poll. For macOS26 thru 26.0.1 the yes/meh/no tally has been pretty consistent at ±30/25/45%. It will be interesting to see if the tally moves in 26.1 and later. (Maybe adding a reason if you change your vote?)

as of macOS 26.1 day1:

I removed all of my previous 26.0.1 Display setting customization to see what the update would offer in terms of 'clarity and improvements'...

ok, heres macOS 26.1 Control Center on desktop in Light mode. Am I missing something? both the LG 'clear' and LG 'tinted' look basically the same to me on my ASD. It would be a real kick in the pants if they only tweeted/improved the iOS.

LG Setting 'clear' vs 'tinited':

also the weird heavy shadow effect on webpages is still there. (red arrow below)

on the positive side IMO,
the Menus are now solid again, without the 'background bleed-through' (red circle below)

I think the text clarity in Phone/FaceTime/Messages/Contacts has improved — there's darker text on light backgrounds and vis versa. Though Safari's favorite bar and others remain too faded compared to their backgrounds.

So kind of a 'push' in terms of 'improvement'.
What are you guys seeing?
