Is the X screen size a problem for Plus switchers?

Stop showing actual photo comparisons! You're ruining the arguments. 🙂

Anyone who says anything bad about the X display size is simply salty! If you pay $999 for a phone, you should accommodate your usage habits to a smaller phone!

Malarky. The same crap was said when the Plus came out; it's too big too hard to reach etc etc. People complained they didnt want to adjust their usage habits to the bigger display and didnt want to on a $100 more expensive device.

Then it was very close to or outsold the smaller version. If you are opposed to change then maybe that is your mindset but will never progress with technology as it changes.

Is the iPhone X screen size (taller, rounded edges) a big problem for iPhone Plus switchers?

I prefer the iPhone 8 Plus because I think the screen of the iPhone X is to tall for me.

I want the same screen to phone ratio but in the plus size. Maybe a 6 inch screen? The X is too small (phone size and screen size).

Problem is if they keep this aspect ratio going forward for their phones then a wider phone is going to be REALLY tall; back to the same issues with the Plus reaching the top (due to the bezels plus big screen). It will just be reaching the same distance basically, maybe more.

I dont think people are considering that part.

Took me 30 seconds to “love” the size of the X and knew I wouldn’t miss my 7+. After another 30 seconds I loved facial recognition. Took another minute to get used to the swipe up to open.

Now i just need to learn the tips and tricks.

For me, I like to read more top to bottom than side to side.

It helps me avoid losing my spot in a larger article or paragraph and makes it much easier to skim/speed read while gleaning the most info.

The swipe up is really intuitive to use to go HOME because the HOME butting was virtually in the same spot as the “Home Bar” is now. I was on the fence before I got the X and tried it, but am totally sold with the gesture.

I adapted to it quickly. I even love the notch it doesn’t bother me at all. I think it’s a cool unique look.

This makes the notch more bearable.

So it sounds like those coming from a Plus feel the screen is too small, but those coming from say, a 6S, feel the screen is perfect? Generally? I would say that is probably normal reaction. My daughter has the X, coming from a 6S, and she tells me she loves it. I will see it today when she brings it by.

I am coming from a 5s and love the screen. It is perfect for me. I did always like the idea of the Plus screen size but the form factor did not work for me (small hands, small pockets typical of lady-pants). It is easy for me to use the keyboard on the X.

I understand. I’m sure I’ll give it more time but I’m not sure what will change. I’m used to a wider phone where in normal view, content appears larger. I have already increased text on here just to match my plus and it makes the screen seem even that much smaller.

Yeah, if at the end of the day, the +primary+ factor for your choice is the difference in screen width, then of course, that's not suddenly going to change.

For me, all the other perks - not too mention, I needed/wanted one for dev purposes - override that width difference - and like I pointed out in another thread, my usage seems to constantly be in lists of data, and so the increased portrait height is actually better for for because the content I'm speaking of isn't width constrained.
