You can't sell used Android devices for $450 cause you can buy the same model brand new in stores for that price.

Apple controls the prices of iPhones and only drops the price after a new model comes out. Android phones can usually be found brand new on sale from stores after 6 month they are released.

Evidence: since this year Apple increased base storage size, last years 16gb iphone6s and 6s+ models will not hold value. Good luck trying to sell a 16gb iPhone 6s for anything close to $500

Although they won't hike the storage up often, well I seriously doubt it anyway. That's just another good reason to skip the base model and at least get the mid range one if you possibly can. It is unfortunate this year for people selling 6s devices, but that's an anomaly, it's far from the norm with Apple.

What's the problem if they are a few years old? They are very powerful devices.

My point is Samsung is far from the worst, and is usually one of the better companies for updates. LG, Motorola, HTC aren't any better. Nothing like apple though.

And I'm saying that over the past year Samsung has been in point with updating their newer phones, better than most other companies.
I don't care if the new phones get timely updates, the rest is abandonware.

Actually, it has been so long I am not sure what version of Android I am waiting for anymore.

Of course I could be wrong here, I'm not as up to date with Android as I used to be. But didn't Marshmallow launch about a year ago and Samsung began the Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6 Edge around 4, maybe 5 months ago? That's a pretty big gap between Google releasing it and Samsung finally implementing it.

My 7+ only cost me £79 as I got £440 for my plus and £300 for my S7 edge.

£440? That seems low, where did you sell it, or was it a lower storage device?

You want the best phones on the market and want to get the newest one every year but its too expensive?

Well you can try to build your credit so you can take advantage of some of the payment plans.

Or you can create a new revenue stream, there are plenty of young people being very entrepreneurial on the internet selling things on eBay or amazon. If you get a little creative and hustle, you have the potential to make more than enough to buy a new iPhone every year and not have to worry about it.

My wife is from the Philippines, and she said that a top of the line iPhone clost about 1000 USD. I was like WOW !!

I know my Samsungs are running 5.0. I have been waiting for an upgrade for so long I forgot its name.

Meanwhile, every BB10 device released runs the latest version.

The S6 had it well before the Moto x and I think before some htc and lg phones too

Well, yeah but if my timeline is right and as I say, I could be well off the mark. Being before some of the competition doesn't necessarily mean quick. If there's 7-8 months from launch to available for your device it isn't exactly prompt. Still it's not as if the devices are unusable during that wait time.

But I'd be a little bit miffed if my device was just getting updated to Marshmallow about the same time as Nougat was being released.

It was the 128GB 6S plus. I sold it to CPW.

Yeah. I'd probably get ripped off or robbed if I used eBay/gum tree.
I like Gum Tree never had a problem with it. Bought a 6S there yesterday and presently listing my 6 on there. Bought and sold lots of different thing there. Only problem I had was trying to sell Golf Clubs. Not much interest seems like its not the place to sell Golf Clubs.

Unless you go on gumtree it's tough to get more than that. Comparisons website don't go above that.

Ooooffft. Well I suppose it's quick and easy but you loose far too much money selling/trading in with retailers. But, hassle free I guess.
Yeah can take quite a long time otherwise.
