catalan, is i am not sure exactly how to categorize it (i don't think i could even if i wanted to),I wouldn t call it a language on its own, but could not call it a dialect of spanish either because it's very different from spanish writting included, it is spoken in the west of spain, people that speak catalana nd spanish can understand each other, i dunno which came first, anyways i speak, write, read: spanish, english and french fluently.

or,
Ik praat meer dan één taal, als je in een land woont waar er 11 officiele talen zijn kan het een beetje moeilijk worden maar dat is niet erg. I kan geen enkele taal van Afrika praten maar ik kan wel Afrikaans praten.

Its pretty fancy how dutch and afrikaans are so simple.

I only speak English fluently but i am learning to speak Hebrew and spanish. I took Latin for a year, but that was just a pain.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You speak English almost like a native.

Hmm, probably better than a native. Natives use slang and poor english, those learning english usually speak it better.

I can speak Italian almost fluently. I can also speak a bit of Norwegian, and I am currently studying French, which is proving to be quite simple considering I already know Italian. It's just that damn pronunciation. :D

My little bit of high school Spanish has been completely destroyed by my Italian, although I can usually still read it pretty well.

okay, it's a little like Georgian, it's also a language complete on its own

yes, but Afrikaans has got some very funny words, something with broekie or something, i forgot. I've got a friend in South-Africa. Old friend.

I'm doing latin my second year, and yes it's a pain:p

I don't know about Georgian, but I don't consider Catalan as a complete language, as their litterature is almost non-existent. It used to be a peasant spoken-only language which has been politically tergiversated for the last 30 years.
Others say that Valencian is a language complete on his own too... so it'll depend on who you ask about this delicate question.

oh, Georgian is a complete real existing language with own alphabet.

I can barely go a day without ballsing-up in English!

I'd love to be able to speak another language(and/or play an instrument) but alas I don't think either are gonna happen.

Annoyingly I've got cousin who flaunts her language skills at me at any opportunity being fluent in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Chinese.... and I think I've probably left at least one out!

Seriously fluent too, like reading and writing in Chinese, she did Uni. at Beijing.

Very annoying when we went to the movies with two visiting students, one Italian, one spanish and she sat there translating on the fly to the two of them from English!.............shhhh!

I speak more than one language, living in a country with 11 official languages can be quite tricky but it's alright. I can't speak any African languages but I can speak Afrikaans.

And in Afrikaans:

I am fluent in English and Spanish. I also know some French, but not that much, probably forgot most of it by now.

I used to speak Spanish pretty well, but after living in France for 15 months it's been pretty much replaced by French. I do pretty well in conversation, but trying to follow movies where I don't know the context can be pretty challenging. As I spend more time away from France it becomes more challenging.

Czech - fluent
Slovak- fluent
Russian - required to - fluent in speaking and reading , bad at writing
German - moved to Austria - fluent
English - moved to Canada - fluent

Old Church Slavonic - my grandmother spoke this - she was so traumatized after WWII that she refused to speak her native language which was Carpatho Rusyn.

So... you must be the cousin, then?

BSL and Latin (poor, could try harder) never had the opportunity to translate between the two.

Can order beer in about nine languages.

Nope :D

My mother is the impressive one - she is fluent in 11 modern languages, she worked as a translator for a while.
plus she can read greek, latin, and hebrew.

My father has an ability where he can imitate accents so well that even native speakers cannot tell that he is not one of them. His two brothers have the same ability- they used it well in their police careers.

I have an accent in every language. :(

most europeans are multi lingual- its not a choice its necessity so you can talk to your neighbours. :)
