I've noticed this with a lot of the English. Just as well you've got that "talking loudly and slowly" thing to fall back on, eh?
It works especially well when combined with pointing. I pride myself on being very good at pointing at stuff.
I speak english and a bit(very limited) german. The german language is pretty nice, because their grammar is almost the same as ours.

Georgian is definitely a very interesting language. Even within Georgia there are some other interesting languages

I was born in South Africa and my partner's from South Africa - he can speak Afrikaans but I can't. I'm fluent in English and at conversational level in Korean, Spanish, Russian and AUSLAN (sign language).

Hehe, está genial el chiste. Siempre me cago de risa cuando escucho a los Españoles usando esa palabra de esa manera.

haha so do venezuelians, i am colombian so i say " coger el bus" as in to take the bus, but they see it completely different, or the word "arrecho o arrecha " for them is to be angry, for us is to be horny, so you can imagine how weirded out (and dissapointed) i was when my classmate told me we should leave class early and go to the library because she was feeling "arrecha" and just wanted to get it over with.....lol
You learn a new word, every day. For me, Colombians have a cajillion great expressions and dichos. One of my favorites is sort of synonymous with "red neck", etc. "corroncho"....just rolls off the tongue, nicely.
Here in Quito, if one is happy and content they use "muy enseñado". In Colombia they say "muy amañado" pero se asusta el Ecuatoriano.
I read an article a while ago which deals with the on-going problem in the country of Miami. "Los latinos no se entienden por la variedad de usos de la misma palabra." Without a doubt, communication is an art form.
I speak fluent english and spanish and some french.It has helped me learn this languages living abroad..a language is just practise and by learning different languages you can also learn more about your own language.For example in english there are tons of words and expressions that come from french and french and spanish are more or less the same..only that french is more like old spanish.Is not that french is worse but it was a language which appeared before than spanish and consequently less evolutionated.Languages are really important ...If it wasn't forn english It would have to be stucked in my country my whole life or having difficulties when travelling or meeting new people.The more languages the best!!
