I'm generally a watch something once kind of guy. It's just tough for me to watch something a second time when there is so much new stuff I'd rather spend that time watching. Thus, buying a DVD is usually a waste of money for me.
^This.

We never reallly bought DVD's, typically if we did see movies, we'd just rent the DVD. And, now, we have Netflix.

Yup, of course!
Mostly TV boxsets though, I generally watch films once unless they're really good. Most recent boxsets were Green Wing and the complete Fast Show collection a few weeks ago.

It's just much easier for me to buy a DVD and be able to watch it on the bedroom TV or in the living room, or take it over to a friends house. Plus if I want it on my iTunes all I have to do is load up Mediafork.

T.V. Shows = iTunes
Renting = Redbox
Streaming = Netflix
Buy = Only Blu-ray's that I'm confident I'll like, although just picked up Lincoln Lawyer blindly the other day and REALLY enjoyed it.

i sometimes buy dvds when i am unable to find some odd favorite movie of mine anywhere else, but i do keep a copy of them if the original one gets scratched somehow.

Not really, I don't watch that many films (partly because I don't really have the money) but we sometimes rent DVDs.

Just changed up, I use to buy everything but now I only buy BluRays..
Everything else Netflix/Redbox

I think the last DVD I bought was in 2006. Since then, I buy from iTunes or DL from other places.

I still have a ten year old Sony DVD player so that should tell you how important DVDs are in my life.

Sometimes.

Atleast when you buy physical CDs/DVDs/blu-rays you have something to show from it, and you can always rip the media to your HDD anyway.

If you're talking Japanese anime TV series, definitely on DVD (only the really recent anime series take full advantage of high-definition video in order to look good on Blu-ray disc).

Exactly. I don't know why more people don't go down that route. You get to own a physical and digital copy of your media; the digital version encoded to whatever quality you want and it's cheaper! Surely its win-win.
