Right I have yet to see one in the wild. I see plenty of pros and orange color. I feel like I saw more mini than anything when they first came out.
The same for me, I have seen the Air on display in the Apple store but never encountered seeing anybody using one in public. Also seen plenty of 17 Pro and Pro Maxs. I do remember though it was a good 4 months until I saw anybody using the iPhone X the year that came out too.

so far I’ve seen one in the wild.
Plenty of 17 Pros all around.
I haven’t seen any Airs in the wild here in the Daytona Beach area. I have seen one iPhone 12 mini in the wild though. Turns out a good friend of mine refuses to let his go.

I've seen a lot more Airs than I thought I would in the "wild" here in Northern California - but then again this is NorCal -- most people here make 10-20x+ what I do. Ha.

Haha, I live in SoCal and I’ve seen 1 Air out in the wild - I gave them a *nod* with my Air in my hand, and they smiled back lol. Still have people who take a photo for me and my family, and have never held one before / comment how thin and light it feels.

Honestly I don’t care that much about thinness.

What really drove me to the Air was the weight and screen size. 6.3 is too small and 6.9 is too big for me.

6.5 is such a sweet spot for a smartphone screen size.
If the 20th anniversary iPhone is particularly compelling like the X was and if I decide to upgrade, it’s going to be difficult going back to a phone that feels like the wrong screen size along with the increased thickness and heft. Makes me sad that the Air is selling so poorly.

100% I feel 6.5" is the goldilocks size. For me, it gives me the largest screen size where phone still feels subjectively "comfortable", and most importantly, I can use and type with 1-hand (made even easier because it's thinner where you hold it, and 1-handed use has me curling my fingers around the phone and gripping the other side, while using my thumb).

I haven't seen one yet out in the wild. I will be all over the Air 2 if I get some sweet stereo speakerage and macro photos (although Apple will probably cram a budget telephoto in it instead). In the meantime, I have to haul around a 17 Pro which weighs something like 2X iPhone 5S... Thanks, Tim Apple! 😉

I'm curious, why did you choose the 17 Pro over a standard 17? It sounds like the standard 17 has all the features you mentioned and it's quite a bit lighter (and cheaper) than the 17 Pro. The only thing it's missing that both the Air and 17 Pro have is the Pro chip, but I'm actually kind of doubtful it's well-utilized in the Air due to the Air's smaller thermal capacity.

Oh no you're not... you're not gonna get me to think through the decision and then second-guess myself all over again! 😉 I purchased the 17 Pro vs the Air and 17 because 1) FOMO 2) YOLO 3) 4X-8X zoom is quite good 4) 1TB Storage 5) Faster USB transfer speeds.

I picked up my Space Black Air after three weeks of not using it and experienced that same initial “wow” factor compared to what I feel when using my 17 Pro or 15 Pro. With the Air, it is a very different feel and look. Yeah . . . I still love my Air 😎

Saw my first fellow Air-head out in the wild just the other day. 😎

lol gotcha. Ah that's right, the other thing the Air has is the 1TB option. 17 only goes up to 512GB.

Still loving my Air, every time I pick up my OH’s 17pro i think it feels like a brick!

I don’t really care if I ever see somebody else using one, or how popular it is or isn’t, it’s a great lightweight, well designed, premium handset. It doesn’t weigh my pockets down anywhere near as much, and seems tougher and more robust than any iphone i’ve ever had since the 3G.

No regrets here at all, it’s been perfect.

6 months of ownership as of yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. My absolute favorite since the X. Honestly the “compromises” haven’t been a big deal at all. Well worth it to me for a light, thin and made with premium material device.

I’ve only seen one other in the wild but I’ve had three relatives/friends purchase one after handling mine for a couple minutes.

I'm missing the Air. My hands may not like the screen size but my eyes sure do appreciate it. It also feels lighter in hand than spec sheet differences suggest probably thanks to balance/weight distribution.

The Air is heavily discounted via AT&T (even cheaper than the 17e) with essentially a 3-year contract so I might go for it and just get a loop grip or something. Realistically, I've had AT&T for 20+ years and am unlikely to switch anyway.

Also in SoCal. I'm not sure if it's considered "out in the wild" but one of my aunts got the iPhone Air as a gift from her kids (replacing her really old phone).

Very interesting how cheap the Air is being discounted by carriers... $27.78/month down to $4.99/month! Wow

I still love my Air and would buy it again in a heartbeat, however today was the first time I missed my 16 Pro. I had a pileated woodpecker visit my suet feeder today for the first time since I moved to a new house 2 years ago. There is a big difference between 2X and 5X when taking a photo from a distance. If the Air is still in the lineup next year I would still choose that over the Pro.

I would definitely not get the Air if camera is a big deal to someone.

For casual photos and videos its good.

Yes. Even though I too would make the same choice every day and twice on Sunday, there have been a few situations in last 6 months that I wish I had the 5x telephoto zoom lens. Like you said far-away photo. Or at a concert / venue (kids soccer game, school performance) where I’m further away and want to take as good of a zoomed in photo/video as I can.

These scenarios are few and far between. But not zero. If they came out with a new Air 2 with 2 lenses - Main and Telephoto Zoom, it would absolutely be the perfect phone for me. And I could recommend to “most” others (like me) with full confidence and fewer qualifiers.

Still a hugely net positive decision for me.
