Just because you have AppleCare+ doesn’t mean you have to go without a case. Use the case if you want, especially if you don’t like scratches or you like extra grip. It still brings the cost down should you ever need to replace your screen or camera module.
This. It's not free to repair/replace your phone. I'm on the 1UP program, which includes AppleCare and I like using a case.

I have the opportunity to buy AppleCare+ for $9.99 a month. It sounds like a good deal. The only thing is I actually like using my case. It works great and feels better in the hand than without the case (less slippery). What’s your opinion?
It’s not an either or thing. You can have AppleCare and still use a case.

A case will not always save your phone from a drop. When the case doesn’t save your phone, you’ll need AppleCare.

Even if you have AppleCare, it cost $99 and you’re going to have to spend time to get your phone replaced. A case could prevent this

I’m of the opinion, for me personally, I will either use a case or get AppleCare+

I don’t see the point in having both.

Obviously, each person is different. I understand that. Some people might want or need both.

Same as above. Leather or Silicone case with AC+. If you're going to pick one or the other, go with AC+. Can always add a case later on if you need it.

Having a case on your iPhone does not guarantee it will not get damaged...

The smart move is AppleCare+ along with a quality protective case and screen film...

I would rather never need any of it than suffer damage and repair/replacement costs because I had none of it...

Well you have to decide what's best for you. For me I wouldn't want to have to make a trip to the Apple store every time I dropped my phone. Also wouldn't want to be out over $1k if it was destroyed because I've had iPhones destroyed in OtterBox cases.

I get where you're coming from and I'm guessing you're someone that rarely drop their phone. If you can't remember the last time you dropped your phone then you probably don't need a case but you still might want AppleCare just in case something happens.

Not exactly a need but I like a thinner phone case on the iPhone just because the bare phone feels slippery. Of course this is a personal thing and I can see some might like the bare iPhone feel. If you like the bare feel of the iPhone and never drop your phone go with AppleCare.

It is a bit annoying to have to mail in your device after an incident occurring.

From that angle, a case is better because if I drop my iPhone and the case protects it and there’s no damage or just a minor scratches then that’s just easier to handle then mailing in and all that

Case and screen protector always. Practice safe smart phoning. My parents taught me to take care of my toys

I never used a case until the 6 slipped out of my hand and the screen shattered. Always used a case since that, XR, 12 and 14 Pro.

I’d love to go case-less because I know that’s where the real experience is, but I just can’t risk it.

I personally hate cases, I hate the way that it makes the bezels appear slightly thicker, I hate the extra thickness, I always hate the texture compared to the stainless steel and glass

On my 14 pro max

I use a screen protector but that’s it.

Not for me, Apple Leather case on my iPhone.

PS: I responded to this thread, but, I only have an iPhone 12 Pro Max. Even if I had a 14\14 Pro Max, it would be the same, with a case...

I personally have a case and a screen protector on both my active phones (work and personal) and will get Apple Care+ before very long.

Why?

Because I can’t be without a phone for work as it’s the main method my work comes in and the combination means I minimise the likelihood of damage to my phone whilst covering it if I do damage it. I am adverse to giving my work my personal number because from experience of previous roles and giving it out, many people assume then it’s free reign to call me with a work query at some stupid hour when I have finished work several hours prior.

I have a case and a cover on my personal phone for the similar reasons, those I don’t mind calling me during work time if they can’t reach me on my personal phone have my work number. I don’t want to give everyone my work number whilst my phone is out of use. So again if I can minimise the likelihood of that happening I will.

I have gone case less with all my phones. I recently dropped my iPhone and it cracked its back for the first time in a decade or more of owning an iPhone. Now I got the 14 pro max and it is so heavy that I feel a case is needed even though I always get AppleCare. I don’t like the additional bulk so let’s see how long this new thing lasts of having a case.

I haven’t used a case full time since the 11 Pro Max days.

I love the feel of the iPhone 12 series and up.

Me personally, I pay for AppleCare+ and rarely use a case as I consider AC+ my case/protection against damages.

That doesn’t mean you can’t use a case though.

I still use a screen protector all the time.

This sounds about right for me. I have yet to get a screen protector, but i have been considering it. I take really good care of my iPhones. I just traded in my 3-year-old iPhone 11 Pro Max which I used without a case and it was nearly flawless. Not a single scratch on the screen and maybe one little nick in the finish on the edge. The front glass on these phones seems to have gotten much more scratch resistant since the Xs Max that I owned. But, my daughter uses a screen protector and swears by it — and they look and feel nice.

That said, I have AC+ and I do like having a case for standing my phone up in the shopping cart while shopping so i can use it for the grocery list. Also, if hiking or hitting an amusement park I have used Apple’s smart battery cases in the past for extra juice when taking lots of photos and for the quick access camera button. If apple still made that case for the 14 Pro Max, I would buy it.

I prefer using an Apple leather case and Apple wallet. It feels better in the hand, while providing a little protection. I do have AC+.
I’ve decided not to go with the Apple leather case after reports from users that the leather quality has not been the same (worse) since the iPhone 12.

You don’t experience any of those problems?

Leather cases are the best to hold imo and simply love how they kind of “repair” themselves after some minor damage.

I use a screen protector and case the moment it comes out of the box because I sell my phone every year before upgrading to the new one so that I can get the maximum return value on the phone. Apple's trade in value is trash now so I always sell it online, usually on Swappa.

That and I'm a massive klutz.

A case is a must for me. I hate scratches and the slick feel of an unprotected phone.

Yes I was thinking of getting AppleCare+ because $9.99 per month sounded like a great deal. It also says I can cancel anytime. I know it costs some money if I break it but still seemed like a good deal. But then when I tried my iPhone 14 Pro without a case I thought it was somewhat slick. I appreciate that it is thinner though than with my case even though my case is already thin.

It's a hard choice

As soon as I opened the box when my brand new 14PM arrived, I attached a screen protector, camera protectors and an Otterbox Symmetry+ case. The phone is always in the case when at home but, if I am away from home, I transfer the phone to a Tucch wallet case which also contains my transport passes and shop cards. In either instance, the phone is on a lanyard to prevent damage from dropping or loss through leaving behind. This is in addition to an Applecare+ Theft and Loss cover. I wouldn't carry around anything costing £1300 without equal precautions. I had my previous iPhone stolen: once bitten...

Applecare+ insurance is not an implicit ban on the use of a case.

Case or case less, insurance or no endurance: make your choice and stick with it, that’s what being an adult is about.

Don’t know why this warrants a public question frankly: were you going to let your choices be guided by what a majority of folks here think?

Mine’s in a case and I thankfully have Applecare. The case prevents normal drops, but if you’re clumsy like me and drop it during a mountain hike, you’re happy with the extra insurance.😅
