Having said that, I'll also note that interviewers frequently take aspects of appearance over which the applicant has control into account.
To be sure, but it really depends on the sector he works in. If a person works for an insurance company or other rather conservative job, then its more likely if the tattoo is not easily covered up, he may have a difficult time. If he works for a internet startup, then that might not matter at all.

If I were to get one, I'd probably look to get it on my forearms, something that will be covered up with long sleeve shirts

It's not that I'm afraid of people liking it or not, I couldn't care less about that. But Steve was loved by many and hated by others. I mean I don't think it would be like getting a Hitler quote tattooed on me or something, but... I don't know. A good friend of mine has a Carl Sagan quote on her forearm and it's beautiful. I would like to put mine maybe on my upper arm or shoulder blade.

Some of the quotes I'm considering are the usual suspects: "Stay hungry, stay foolish", "The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do", and quite possibly my favorite, "Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice."

Any opinions, questions or stories of your own tattoos or those of people you know are more than welcome; nothing is off limits.
It depends on where you put it. If it's on your neck or the small of your back, then it's tacky.

Just my opinion but I think it's lame to get any tattoo anywhere on your body.

I generally like tattoos but I do think this would be both tacky and lame
I agree.

If I got a tattoo, it would never be in color because it fades and maybe something very personal to me like my children's name or a symbol but not one of a brand. So no logo from Apple or any company on me.

But hey OP, that's your choice. If Steve Jobs seems very personal to you, go. I find that lame. Still laughing at the lame 2Pac tattoo Kevin Durant got. I admire many different celebrities but I would rather have the face of my mother or wife on my arm than some dead or alive celebrity on me.

I still found Kat Von Dee hot back in the day. Tattoos never bothered me. But I just find it tacky if you put a company brand logo or celebrity you never met. The quote itself I guess is okay but still kinda weird to me.

I admired Michael Jordan but I would never put a quote from him on me and he has many nice quotes for inspiration. I wouldn't put a Jumpman logo either. Maybe a flag of my country before doing product placements of my body.

Would have to be very personal to me and something I can live with for the rest of my life. But something most people won't recognize if they saw it. Symbolic only to me. Don't want it recognize like some Apple Computer logo, right Wild Hog?

Lame, KD.

I'm thinking the same thing, I've seen some really wonderful color tattoos, but I do question the longevity of them. They look nice, but how will they hold up in 10 years? I'm much more partial to black and gray myself.

As for corporate logos, I've always felt that its not something I'd want to do. For instance, back in the 90s and early 2000's I was probably more of an apple fanboy, I really like the whole Apple environment and culture it brought together. Now years later, I think they're great tools but I also think many PCs fall under that category as well. Basically, my opinion of Apple changed from a cool company to just another multibillion corporations. I totally don't understand people putting the monster drink logo on their skin - that's something I'm completely missing.

or celebrity you never met.
That's actually kind of unnerving in a sense.

Op - if 'stay hungry, stay foolish' reflects your personal philosophy and you like it then great. If I saw that tattoo on someone I wouldn't recognize it as a Job's quote. I'd probably just think to myself: ok and roll my eyes. But I am an admitted ******.

My daughter tattooed this on me while I napped on the couch. image.jpeg

Stay hungry, stay foolish is probably the quote I would choose if I had to pick. I don't need to have such a long quote on my body when nicknames of me or names of my loved ones are much shorter.

Tattoos I will avoid -
Celebrities (dead or alive)
Characters in movies. Like I really need a Yoda tattoo?
Product logos
Long quotes
Swastikas

Tattoos I don't mind -
Name of my loved ones (blood relative)
Forms of symbolism that isn't racist
Maybe something written in Kanji

Dragons? Too typical especially on Asians like the Triads. I really not into celebrity worship. I rarely get starstruck. False gods and idols to me. Similar to never putting a girlfriend or wife's name as a tattoo. Bad luck on the relationship. Don't stay that foolish! Happened to Angelina Jolie when she had tats for Billy Bob.

A Steve Jobs quote? Nah. Just put that quote as your wallpaper on your desktop or phone. You can always replace it once you get bored with it. I have thought about getting a tattoos for years. I never mind them since chicks I've dated had multiple ones. One had a tramp stamp. Since I am fair skin, I decided not to bother with tats. I have sensitive skin and would dislike the dark ink on my body. Fair skin is looked upon highly in my country.

Ear piercings, been there, done that. Tats? Nah. I had an acne problem as a teenager. It was easier spotted on me than my darker cousins. It was cleared up by my early-20's, so I don't need to dilute my clean skin with any ink. I want the innocent, Harry Potter look. Chicks love that here. Trying to look cool and thuggish scares those chicks. So I go for the sweet, innocent, harmless, nerdy look to weasel my way. If they only knew better. Giggity. ;)
