My sexy computer is using me not the other way around...

The MBP or any Mac is definitely cooler and sexier. I do agree that I use it for its looks, but also because of the features like many of you guys have mentioned.

As a college student, its funny to see how in my lecture halls of over 400 people, I can see the presence of hundereds of white apples when i turn my head back. Heck all my professors have MBPs and even iphones.

I love how useful the iPhone is too, sync calendars directly to and from my mac, write on the "notes", use maps to locate lecture halls, 720p, awesome fb integration, iPod, have my school and personal email accounts under "mail", and countless of other stuff. gosh... what would i do w/o my apple products lol

I really don't know anything about computers, I had a friend go to the store w/ me who knows more about computers than I do but he doesn't know that much.

I just didn't really understand what all the specs meant. To me it was, buy a pc for half the price and have tons of spending money or spend it all on a Mac.

I went w/ the MBP 13" b/c it's all I could afford and it would do it's job for just surfing the web and checking emails.

But I do love how simple and easy it is to use after a week or so getting use to it. I love all the features it has and specially the track pad w/ it's different finger options on moving the screen.

Hopefully I'll learn more about my Mac and computers in general.

Oh, and it does REALLY help that it's one sexy lookin computer!!

Obviously, when most people in the room have the same computer, there is nothing sexy about it. You are simply being just the like guy next to you. That's how things stop being sexy and become boring.

none of these features are exclusive to the iphone.
My ugly old BB does all that. Though to be honest, If I didnt hate AT&T so much I'd be iPhoned as well.
But more on topic, I kind of resent when friends or family will imply I bought my MBP for looks. Sure every now and then I go gee, this is a swell laptop. But then I get more little flutters in my heart from the nice Weller soldering iron my uncle sent me!

I'll admit....I am almost embarrassed sometimes to use my MBP. I dont like to draw attention, I dont like people asking me questions, but....truth of the matter is that my MBP just works....actually everything I have apple just works...is it perfect? No....but even at work I use my MBP, and it is much faster than our stock "Dell" issued computers. people look at me at work, people ask me questions and it bothers me, but since I know the guys in IT they were able to hook me up on my company's network so I take the advantage........

So yes it looks cool and yes its sexy, but overall, I use it because it just works!

Lol I love macbooks too but I never understand when people say that it simply works. Windows computers work too ya know. I had a dell that worked for 5+ years. I know plenty of people whose windows machines worked. Hell my dell is still working strong, wanna retire the poor thing and get a sexy mbp to take to school though :D

The "sexiness" and coolness of the macbook air certainly pushed me towards my decision to buy it, but it is a BIG upgrade form my 2007 black macbook also. It has a nice blend of style and functionality. :)

I recently got a Macbook Pro 13" (about 2 months ago now).

The reasons I got it were primarily:

1) value: it will keep its value far longer than any dell/hp/etc laptop
2) reliability/customer service: I have the unfortunate experience of trying to use HP's customer service a few times in the past...
3) quality: I really like the unibody design and how it feels solid (even if it wasn't any more solid, it definitely feels that way - but it is, too)
4) trackpad: it's the best of any laptop, period

Since having it, I have come to realize I enjoy using my computer. The overall experience of using my laptop is just more enjoyable. So more or less, I guess I do use it for those reasons primarily.

To quote my friend 'Ill buy anything if it's shiny and made by Apple'

This was definitely a quote from an Onion video about the Macbook Wheel ;)

He still uses it ;)

Hmmm...I wonder if your GF is jealous of you calling an inanimate object sexy??? Lol

Well I guess that would depend on the person but I think everyone that owns some type of luxory item has a percentage of why they use it:

for example person 1:
25% for looking cool and impressing others/being arrogant
75% function

person 2:
25% function
75% arrogance

I'd imagine its very similar to why people buy BMW's, I personally admire the art in Apples computers as well as BMW's and enjoy there premium quality. As I type this on my MacBook my old windows laptop is next to me, it feels like crap, not dissing windows I still like windows but the build quality of these budget laptops suck hard. You get what you pay for and that will always be the case, I'm pretty sure (or at least hoping) that if you drop $1500 on a laptop its going to function and hold up better than a $500 laptop...Just saying.

I had used Windows machines since Windows 95. I switched in 2007 soon after the iPhone was released. I love the power that Mac OS X has. Applications just work. Finding useful software for free is the standard on a Mac. Try searching for freeware on Windows. Only thing you'll find is Winamp.

i am a mac fan.. but i also use windows.. but what u just said is complete BS.

I don't need to babysit it like my old Win box.

+1
In all honesty, we have 3 pc desktops here. Between my husband and daughter using it, the maintainence is quite crazy.
When I first got my iMac, life got so much simpler, very low maintainence.
So, I went to iMac, to MacBook pro, and iPad. We're very satisfied. The design on these are just an added bonus.

I didn't *get* Apple for a long time. I got a shuffle when those first came out way back when, and I liked it. Then about a year or two later I got a nano. And I liked it.

Then a friend got an iPhone, and it was all downhill from there. :)

I got my iPhone 3G last November, and I just fell in love with it. It just worked so easily and had this awesome battery and the apps. And it was sexy, but more than that, it worked, and I became a Steve Jobs-ophile. I got my first MBP in April of this year and loved the way it just works. The iPad came in June. :D

I grew up on Windows. My dad was an IBM salesman for years and years and we had computers in every room before home computers were really a thing. I'm not a programmer by any means and there is still a ton I don't really understand, but I have been around computers long enough to recognize one that requires very little of me. It really is a dream to use. I love the trackpad. The wireless is a simple click now where it was a nightmare to get my pc laptop to connect to the school's wireless. Little things like that are why I'm so in love with my MBP.

It is very pleasing to see that many of people use Macs for functionality where looks are bonus . They are reliable and powerful . I think they save money at the end .

I agree; I would say the overwhelming majority of users utilize their MBP for performance. With that said, a large amount of buyers (including myself) considered computer styling as important. After you buy it however, you then get to experience first hand the magic of Mac and only then can you appreciate its capability by experiencing it first hand.

As far as saving money, I agree 100%. If anything, they make money as having a reliable and modern laptop is hugely important for success in both academia and the professional world. I use my personal MBP for all of my office work and it's ability to help me make the best documents has made me money. If it broke or was stolen today, I would be at Apple at 9AM first thing tomorrow to buy another.
