Do you use Apple Pay on your watch or your iphone ?

:apple:Pay and Google Wallet are the safest methods of payment available. Here is great explanation of :apple:Pay that will show you that your insecurities are unfounded.

This is the reason I try to use Apple Pay as much as possible. Sadly it's hard to find a place that accepts it. Near my office Pret A Manger claims to accept it, but every time I try to use it at all Pret locations nearby, the cashiers can never get it to work or say that it only works on one register. It's frustrating.

Wow that sucks. I have two Prets I visit regularly and it works flawlessly on my watch and phone.

When I use it it's usually on my watch. It's already out and I just have to double tap a button to get it to come up. I also usually use my watch when paying via Wallet at Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. Half the time they still think I'm handing them money, but I use the polite version of "look at my wrist, bub."

Here's one drawback: Drive-thru places aren't ready for this at all. Oh sure, McDonald's says you can use Apple Pay in the drive-thru. But too many times I've had to explain to them what it is. Then they will act like a newborn deer trying to stand up for the first time just lugging that card swiping box to the window. Then they won't know what button to push. I really don't feel the need to train them every time for something for which management should really train them better. How many people have phones that support Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Android Pay? A LOT.

So what is needed is something I only saw once at a Wendy's of all places. They need a small NFC terminal outside the building that I can reach myself without them needing to do anything different. I think it was bolted onto the brick exterior right next to the window or maybe below it. Worked like a charm. Until then, it will be a pain to use Apple Pay at any drive-thru, which is quite the shame.

I use AP at Whole Foods, Walgreens, and some local grocery stores. I use my Starbucks app often and really wish there was a way to bring it up without opening the wallet app. McDonalds is a different story! The drive thru people have no clue how it works or even what it is whether I try using my watch or phone, one McDonalds manager didn't even have a clue! What do they think all those signs they have up all over the place mean? It's really annoying that I have to educate them over and over about NFC payments when they are advertising that they accept it!

Here in Australia, now that I've got Apple pay with Visa, I have used it for every transaction for the last couple of weeks. I haven't found one place that doesn't accept it.
So lots of use. I've found the phone is easier to use than the watch because you don't have to lean awkwardly over a terminal

Funny thing is that I never remember that I even have Apple Pay until I've already pulled my check card out. At that point, it's just weird to turn back from using the card.

I get too many strange looks when using my Apple Watch to pay, like I'm someone from the future, especially when using my UK card in the eurozone (where there is officially no Apple Pay yet).

Also I like to see the last 10 transactions on the iPhone so I just use the watch as backup when phone is dead (saved my bacon a few times).

Doesn't it seem a bit weird that the watch is so small, sleek and clever ? While the card reader looks like a calculator from the 1980s? I look forward to when both Google pay and Apple Pay become the norm and card machines just become a white square as standard. Probably in future most companies will use an iPad or similar with a till system on it, which connects to an NFC reader over Bluetooth or something to take payment, cash register will not be around in 10 years. Some merchants already don't accept cash, like transport for London.

I don't know if it's my banks' limitations or not but I need to type in a Passcode on AW for Apple Pay. That just plain sucks and is time consuming. I don't use a Passcode for anything. So, I whip out the iPhone and DING! :apple:

Do you guys need to input a Passcode for AW and Apple Pay?

How do you use Apple Pay on the watch? I just started began using it on my iPhone. So I double tap the side button to bring it up and then place my wrist over the terminal?

Regretfully, my Credit Union is not on board with  Pay yet. I have asked them about it but they have not provided any time line. Additionally, few of the places where I shop currently accept it. Would love to be able to take advantage of the system, but it is limited right now.

I used it for a business trip this week. It was also great to have my Southwest boarding passes right on my wrist when boarding the planes.

I'm blown away by the majority figure using AP on the AW as opposed to iPhone. Am I missing something? I tried it but that means having to input a pain in the ass PASSCODE every time you use your AW. Is there a way around it? The iPhone is fingerprint two taps on Home Button and done. I use my AW probably a hundred times a day, doesn't it drive you insane inputting a PASSCODE all those times? I gotta be missing something, or you guys really don't mind PASSCODING dozens, if not hundreds of times, a day? Please tell me I'm doing it wrong and educate me! :)

Do you mean the watch unlock passcode? Or a card specific PIN?

If you mean the watch unlock passcode, I just skip that by putting my watch on in the morning and immediately unlocking my phone with my fingerprint (which also unlocks the watch). After that, I'm good for the day. (Unless I take my watch off - which is rare. In that case, I'll have to unlock it again when I put it back on)

OH!!! I didn't know that! I thought you had to use the Watch Passcode every time you use Apple Pay, let alone every time you simply want to open AW. Gonna give it a try, thank you!!!

All electronic payments carry a security risk. All of them, no matter the vendor/method/service/device. I would think its self explanatory.

Are you saying that swiping a debit or credit card is more secure, despite the all-too common practice of skimming?

If Apple Pay has a security issue, it is with the weak verification process some banks employ when a card is added to Apple Pay. If you are in any danger from someone else adding your card to an electronic payment system, it's because your card info has already been stolen (probably using a skimmer). At the point of sale, Apple Pay is more secure than swiping a card.

No. How did you get that from what I posted?

If there's one thing about the internet that bugs me, it's how its access to all the information in the world doesn't help its lack of short-term memory.

I can't speak for "the Internet", but I specifically remember the article you linked. What was your point?

I'm not receiving Notifications of a purchase to my AW after using Apple Pay with the AW. No big deal but is that just the way it is?
