use it all the time....my gf is currently living o'seas though

apart from that, i've only used it a couple of times with other friends...

What's normal? My 65 year old mother uses Skype quite a bit...she's on her first Mac as well...

Your mother is clearly abnormal. You should report her to the authorities.

My mother bought an iP4 primarily because of the FaceTime feature. She did need a new phone- she had been using the same Razr for around 5 years, waiting for the "right" iPhone to come along (she had been using her iPod touch for a couple of years already). She even waited in line for it.

We use it quite often and love it! My husband travels for work, and can be across the country and still tuck our 8 year old into bed at night or help out with homework. It really helps our son's emotional state knowing that he can see and talk to dad whenever he is missing him.

I've used it quite a bit to communicate with family members who are spread out across the country! For me it's not a gimmick, but rather another useful tool for keeping in touch with people.:)

I actually used it last night at the SF Giants game.

My sister gave me a call and wanted to FT during the game to see our seats and stuff, worked flawlessly!

I use it quite a bit. My wife has an i4 so I use it to call her when I'm in a store looking for something she wants me to pick up and I've never bought it before. I jailbroke my i4 so I use it over 3G. It works very well.

I will probably buy her a Facetime iPod for X-mas so we can make quicker video calls...

Just stop torturing your mother, would you? Give her a normal phone already! ;)

yea I love facetime, like others have said its great when someone is travelling and Im always out of town I really enjoy it.

It will help that ipod touch users now will have it too therefore increasing the user base.

still waiting for iChat equivalent accross all platforms and hope that it becomes as revered as bb messenger.

It's the kind of thing you use once or twice because it seems 'cool' but in day to day life there is really no practical application for it.

Facetime is great

Yes, I use facetime everyday. I like it better than just speaking on the phone.

I am planning to travel soon, it will be very useful to use overseas.

For you no, for me no. But some people in this thread are saying otherwise.

Obviously a general statement applies only generally ;)
A lot of these people will probably stop using it when they get over the novelty of it.
That will differ on an individual basis....and some people will keep using it.

I've never used it but I really want to. My best friend just got an iphone 4 and she's the only friend of mine that has one, so maybe we'll try it soon. I'm trying to talk my boyfriend into upgrading to an iphone 4 since he travels a lot and it would be perfect for us.
