Why locking into ecosystem? The only part of Apple ecosystem I’m in is iMessage. Photos, calendar, contacts etc etc I don’t even use Safari. I’m on Google because it’s cross platform.

Step out of the ecosystem and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

Everyone has their preference but it boggles my mind why you wouldn’t like a smaller phone than the SE 2020 BUT with a larger screen.

Well, going to the SE 2020 was already a change coming from the 11, and all the + size phones before the XR and 11. It was a welcome change for sure, as I was tired of big phones. Honestly, I think the size is great. I actually would prefer the 11 pro size - it would likely be my ideal if it wasn’t still pretty heavy, and also didn’t have OLED (another reason I’m not sure if I can get any of the phones this year).

I just don’t really have a desire to go even smaller, and, as someone else mentioned, I have struggled typing on the smaller screen, although zoom has helped a lot.

I’m not ruling it out - just gonna wait and see.

I think there is/was a lot of lent up demand for a smaller phone with newer tech. That is a reason why the 2020 SE has sold so well. A 5.4” iPhone 12 is going to build in that. I upgraded to the 2020 SE, but I’ll get the 5.4” iPhone 12 if the rumors pan out. I want the best iPhone I can comfortably use one handed.

Yes.
I switch from 11P to SE2020.

I like the size and weight much better, the camera is good, battery... soso.

But to be honest I’m a little tired of the design, is the same since the 6 series.

I think the 5,4 is going to be great. Also the Pro if they apply the ipad look with flat edges, but 6,1 is going to be big and heavy like the 11P or more so I’ll go with the 5,4.

Shortcomings - small display, small battery, 4GB RAM.

But the 5.4" will sell because of price, just like the SE2. As a 6.5" user, it's hard for me to go back to 5.8" much less 5.4"

I think it’ll sell well mainly because of its size, not cost. We don’t know the cost of any of these iPhones yet, however the 5.4” has by far the most buzz around it on most places I’ve seen it discussed. There is evidently big demand for smaller phones and I know plenty of people personally who will get this phone purely because it’s smaller than an iPhone XR.

That was the rumoured price of the 12 Max last time I looked?

From Tom’s Guide website

“The iPhone 12 price seems to be a moving target. The most recent leak from @komiya_kj on Twitter says that the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 will start at $699 for 64GB. The 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max have a $799 price for the same amount of storage.

However, it's possible that the pricing could be cheaper should Apple decide to sell 4G versions. The above pricing is for 5G models of the iPhone 12.

Previously, analyst Jon Prosser said that the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 with two rear cameras will start at $649, which would be quite affordable at $50 less than the iPhone 11. The iPhone 12 Max with a 6.1-inch screen would cost $749.

Yet another report based on an analyst note from Jeff Pu says that the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 will start at $749. This would be $50 more than the iPhone 11 and, presumably, without a charger or EarPods in the box.”

Here’s a video comparing the iPhone 12 5.4 vs the iPhone SE 2020. Looks like it’s going to be slightly larger in length and width than the SE 2020.

Not much in length and about .25” wider than the SE 2020

That would be a great size, but that’s not what the dummy units have shown. I guess we won’t know for sure until this thing is released.

In this image, the proposed 5.4 looks noticeably smaller.

Well if most dummy units are showing that size to me it’s pretty much a done deal.

I’ll have to play with it. It’s going to be insignificantly taller to not make a difference BUT about .24” wider which is sounds like a lot.

The dummy doesn’t look wider to me, but there’s definitely no guarantees at this point. Honestly, if your video was correct, I’d probably be quite pleased (except for that weight difference - seems like kind of a lot for a small phone). Since I really love the size of the 11 pro (except for the weight), I’d be okay with something slightly bigger than the SE2, although I think more people are looking forward to smaller.

It’s definitely got my interest though - I’m anxious to see the final product.

Im hoping that 12 Max isn’t now looking likes it’s £799 as that is pushing my morals in terms of what I think an iPhone is worth. I’m not bothered about 5G so kind of hoping they don’t have it this year if it keeps the cost down. At this rate I can see myself settling for an 11 Pro on a deal.

I am very happy with my 2nd gen SE, but will upgrade to the 5.4” iphone 12. The smaller size based on the models, and larger screen will be perfect for me. Also will have 2200 mh battery which should give me a bit more usage, although i currently get 2 days between charges on my SE. Face id and the notch is not ideal but can live with it, especially to get that beautiful flat edge design like the iconic iphone 4 and 5 models.

edit - there is also rumours of an even cheaper 4g model with an lcd screen’ which i will get if true. I do appreciate oled, but prefer apples lcd screens, call me weird but i just prefer more natural images rather than the over saturated look on oled. Also dark scenes are just too dark!!!

BRING BACK THE 4.7" !!
WHERE HAS MINIATURIZATION GONE LATELY !?!?

I forgot about Face ID only. Too bad it doesn’t have Touch ID as well. I never thought I would be happy to see Touch ID again with my SE 2020. I use my iPad Pro at work and it is a slight inconvenience to remove my mask several times while using the iPad. I really like the Face ID on the iPad Pro.

LCD might seal the deal for me, but I haven’t seen that rumor.

It’s interesting how the model and dummies are showing it to be smaller, but there are also these images of it being slightly larger. I guess we will know next month for sure.

I have been using a 6s Plus for five years now, and am ready to replace it. The 6s Plus has a 5.5 inch screen. The idea of getting a screen that is nearly the same size as my current Plus phone in a body smaller than my wife’s SE 2020 is very attractive.

I will wait to find out about the camera, though. I have been frustrated with the limited zoom and poor dim-light capabilities of the 6s Plus’ camera. I’m hoping that the ultra-wide lens and night mode will be the same on the 5.4 and the Pro, even if the Pro has an extra lens and (useless) LIDAR.
